Wife and I have watched a lot of videos for our upcoming trip to the Tetons and Yellowstone. This was by far the most informative. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this.
I've spent quite a lot of time piecing together info from many places. Your video BLOWS THEM OUT OF THE WATER!!! I am visually disabled and love to play trips for my family. The planning part makes me feel like I'm contributing to the trip since I can't drive. This has helped me so much. Thank you ! Subscribed and grateful
You are welcome!!!! If your visually disabled perhaps you will enjoy my audio guide. I tell stories that help the park come to life. It’s not out yet but stay tuned!!
I am taking my first Yellowstone trip and this video is exactly what I was looking for. Other videos are not as informative or contain this much substance. Great job! I have less anxiety about going to Yellowstone as I know what to expect and what to watch out for. Also taking my bike!
Your videos have helped me immensely in planning my road trip to Yellowstone/Grand Teton. The most informative, helpful, and knowledgeable RUclips videos on the subject! Thank you so much. One qualification I'd like to make to your point regarding the campgrounds: All Grand Teton campgrounds are moving to reservation only beginning with the 2021 season! I only found out through my own research and thought I'd share for others who came to this video.
Loved the video! I’m not a nitpicking person but Jackson is the city and Jackson Hole is the mountain valley most of the front country of the park is in.
Yes thank you very much. We are aware of that, but like you, we aren’t particularly picky and we know that many people tend to use them interchangeably. I do try to use them correctly though. Thanks!
This is exactly the video I was looking for and wanting to find. Although our primary destination is Yellowstone, we're also tacking on several days at Grand Tetons and Glacier National Parks too during July this year. I thought this video was really well organized and informative. Perfect for a first timer to the area. I'm looking forward to watching your Yellowstone and Glacier videos if you get them done in time. Thank you!

@@WereintheRockies, we leaving from Honolulu to Park City for couple days, then to Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and the Bozeman. We were in line for Jenny lake tent campground at 5:00am. That day (2nd week sept 2020) only 11 sites were vacated. We were car #11so we got in! Waiting line was huge! The camp hosts did say that 2021 Jenny Lake might go to a reservation system. The camp ground does have a new shower house that requires tokens bought at the registration booth. I hunk it was 5.00 per Shower. Coulter Bay has a nice large shower facility and laundry facility that do cost, as well as a nice shopette, gas and restaurant. Jenny lake has a small store where you can buy drinks, chips, snacks fruits, sandwiches, and things you might need that you forgot for camping. Also nice bathroom facilities. In Yellow stone you can also find this at Old Faithful, Canyons, And Mammoth. Gasoline is also available at these places in the park. Very fun little gift shops too! Stuff for all ages.

Love you videos! Just one question about taking pets. You mentioned about the restrictions for pets inside the parks. Can you recommend any ideas on boarding options around the area for pets? Or do people leave the pets inside the campers unattended at the campsites while they go camping?
That’s a good question. I suppose you could leave the pet in the campground, but my dad took his dog to Zions campground once and he barked the whole time we were gone, and the campground freaked out on him. Lol. I haven’t looked at boarding options around Jackson, but that might be a good idea.

Hotels near Yellowstone and Grand Teton are open year-round. Campgrounds generally start opening up in May for both but you can reserve campsites 6 months before.
We're going Sept 14th - 18th. Yellowstone being dedicated to 14th and 15th. The 16th will be a full day fly fishing. Is 1 day at Grand Teton doable? What is the biggest bang for the buck for a day trip to Grand Teton? I'm thinking Jenny Lake, Hidden Falls, Inspiration Point and String Lake. I'm trying to experience both places within the same trip so any advice would be helpful.
Good question. Definitely do Jenny/hidden/inspiration first. I think second priority is either string lake or Taggart lake, depending on whether you like swimming (string) or hiking (Taggart). I also think you could fit in a drive to oxbow bend area or to Mormon row to see wildlife. I also think you could fit in schwabacher Landing (in fact, if I were you i would try to do that at sunrise, then head to Jenny). I love your videos!!! My son and I are planning a trip to Grand Teton NP for late June 2021 & will be driving in from Salt Lake City airport. I managed to get a reservation for a tent cabin at Cody Bay Village for our first night so I know we have a place to sleep! I’m going to get up (very) early the next morning, a Sunday, to secure us a tent site for the next five nights. What campground would you recommend I try for? Thanks!
Thanks Cathy! What a cool trip you have planned! I don’t think you can go wrong. I think it would be really cool to stay at Jenny Lake campground, which is tent only. You’re close to Jenny and String Lake. Gros Ventre and Colter Bay are probably about equal. I guess it depends on what you want to see and do. We're in the Rockies , thanks so much for your advice! I’m really hoping for Jenny Lake. I’m just worried that with “only” 50 tent sites we might not get a spot. Otherwise, it looks central to the park & that bike trail seems to start right there. And, of course, hiking trails are just minutes away!!! I’m looking forward to more of your videos!
@@cathythielen3182 Yes, I totally understand about the "50 tent sites." We got there at 4AM only to find out they don't allow trailers. hahaha. So we just went over to Gros Ventre.

We've got two border collies and understand that dogs are not allowed on any of the trails in Teton or Yellowstone. Are there plenty of dog friendly trails outside the parks?
There aren't really shuttles in Grand Teton and the boats are not a place you can take a dog unless it's an ADA animal. A good rule of thumb for Grand Teton is that a dog can go anywhere a car can go.

Take the stress out of planning your trip with our itineraries: wereintherockies.com/store/ Through detailed maps and step by step instructions, we’ll show you the most efficient way to visit the best sights and avoid the crowds to make the most of your vacation.
If I’m going in a group of six adults would it be beneficial for us to get a really large car for all of us to ride together? As it is we have planned out two separate SUVs. What would you recommend?
Rental of bikes at Darnon's is easy... but we had a rental vehicle with no bike rack!!!!! .... so you are forced to start from their place if you want to go for a bike ride if you don't have a way to transport a kayak, canoe or a bike to the site you desired to do these things....
My husband was just told by a coworker that we would need to get a permit just to go into grand Teton or Yellowstone?! Is this true at all? We really love your videos. Super helpful!
No, you don’t need a permit to enter the park. We went to both parks over the last month and we didn’t need permits. They did recently open permit requests for snowmobiling in the winter, so maybe that’s what your husband’s friends was thinking.
Well, you have to buy an entry pass, but you don’t need a permit. I understood the question of permit to be like a reservation (or a lottery). You do still pay an entry fee. It usually costs about $35 per park, but we almost always get the $80 yearly pass which gets us into all the parks for a year. If you’re 62 or older you can buy a senior pass - for $80 you get lifetime access to all the parks. If you have a 4th grader you can get a one-year pass for free!

j great video man very helpful just a friendly advice.. try and keep up to the energy level of your wife , she is so much more bubbly , seems more happy and smiling just more energy and enthusiasm springing out from her ,, you on the other hand not so much. it is very noticeable. cheers
Hahaha. You’re right! Good advice. I’m working on it. Thanks
We've got two border collies and understand that dogs are not allowed on any of the trails in Teton or Yellowstone. Are there plenty of dog friendly trails outside the parks?
Can’t speak for outside the park. Sorry
Are the boat ride dog friendly? Also the shuttles?
There aren't really shuttles in Grand Teton and the boats are not a place you can take a dog unless it's an ADA animal. A good rule of thumb for Grand Teton is that a dog can go anywhere a car can go.
Is there kayak rentals at Lea lake?
Rent from dornans and take them to Leigh

If I’m going in a group of six adults would it be beneficial for us to get a really large car for all of us to ride together? As it is we have planned out two separate SUVs. What would you recommend?
I think you’d be more mobile and find parking easier if you were all in one. That would be my vote, as long as you all get along well. Lol
You mean you don’t pay to visit the parks?
Well, you have to buy an entry pass, but you don’t need a permit. I understood the question of permit to be like a reservation (or a lottery). You do still pay an entry fee. It usually costs about $35 per park, but we almost always get the $80 yearly pass which gets us into all the parks for a year. If you’re 62 or older you can buy a senior pass - for $80 you get lifetime access to all the parks. If you have a 4th grader you can get a one-year pass for free!
I did get the senior pass. One good thing I guess about being 62! Thank you for your response
Lol. It’s a ritual in our family. When someone turns 62, the senior pass is their birthday present.
