That's a different projector :/
Who’s here after seeing they just won the award for best projector.
Me 😅
When I first looked into UST projectors, Vava was all the rage. Most reviews were very positive and many reviewers said it was the best. So I ended up buying one. Seems like a bad mistake as it had two upgrades and barely an improvement. Now it is placing last in a recent test of UST projectors. This kind of thing doesn't give us viewers much confidence. The Facebook Vava group is constantly receiving complaints. I know this Formovie just won first place in a recent test, so hopefully, it is the best one. Good job.
I have the vava 4k and bought it on sale last Black Friday for $2100. I like the brightness and color of it but I’m going to pull the trigger and buy a HD fury vertex 2. If I like the LLDV conversion then I’ll keep it. If not I’ll sell it for Pennys on the dollar and get this projector. It’s on sale for $3000
This was the winner of the Projector Central UST showdown! It even costs almost $3k less than the other USTs at the competition! Amazing UST here!
very thorough, useful, and helpful review. Thank you.
I've got a dedicated movie room. What screen would you recommend? Other than ALR? For best blacks.
Good review. I do wonder why top corner focus is an issue and that panning stutter looked bad before MEMC. My years old 1080p UST didnt have those problems so why does this? Is it lamp versus laser?
Will the 150 inch screen be good to get? Or which is your best quality size screen to use? TY I subscribed
What Screen do you use? Thanks for the review.
The sound benefits to eARC are amazing. But the device to device handshake handling makes HDMI CEC and some of those universal remotes people have been hanging on to obsolete.
Do you know if outputting sound via 3.5mm or optical turn off the soundbar? I'd like to add a small powered subwoofer while keeping the speakers on. Thanks.
Can you mount it on the ceiling ? Thanks
I wonder how does it compare to hisense px1-pro in term of picture quality.
Does this theater model has support for ceiling mount?
hi, how does this Formovie compare to the Xigimi you had before? (I have been using an Xgimi 4K Lune for 3 years, found it ok but would love for it to produce better black level/contrast performance) Thanks
Have you tried mounting this upside down on the ceiling?
Sort of new projectors how is this one on the switching from 2.35:1 to 16:9 I'm looking at getting a 2.35:1 screen
Great review. Yes, I'm interested in purchasing it. What I don't seem to see anywhere is how high or how low from the projector should you install the screen. Is there a norm or something? Thank you.
Yes, I‘m interested in. I want to use it to project Backgrounds for my live streams. I hate green screen. The live filters are too bad, so I hope to get better or more natural results. What do you think, would this work?
You'd want to go with an epson because you'll never get rainbow effect with a 3LCD vs any of the laser based UST's.
@@KyleGallagher , Thx for your suggestion. Is there a particular model I should test?
That's kind of overkill.
looks good. I would wait till it goes on sale. Black Friday. If nothing else comes out and tops this before I decide.
Is this available in UK?
yep planning to get this. just having issue deciding where to place it.
wait till blk friday .. might get it for $2500...better an wait then sorry
another hand is toooo f*n new & unknown brand , gonna wait for year or 2 to getting this , they get rid of all the bugs & improve pic quality & feathers abit better , get it all right , looks like needs to work on it is not a really done deal yet!
The toilet is a great place to place it
is this really worth the upgrade over the T1, are is it essentially the same thing ?
US Amazon had it avail just yesterday but shows out of stock today.
How's this compare to the formovie 4k max ? The one with 4500 lumens
Hi, i had encountered a fan error and the projector is auto shut down ...any idea ? Thanks
Does Formovie is better than Xgimi Aura.?
Hi, have you encountered problems regarding fan error? Mine says "Fan error. Projector will automatically turn off on 5 seconds so as to protect itself". Any idea how to rectify?
how does this compare to traditional long throw projectors, more specifically the LS12000?
No idea, but here's a few differences between the two:
Formovie: DLP chip, 60 hz, 2800 lumens, 3k:1 contrast ratio, Dolby Vision, nice built in speakers.
Epson: 3 chip LCD, 120hz, 2700 lumens, 3k:1 contrast (base) & 2,500,000:1 with 'dynamic iris', no Dolby Vision, no built-in speakers.
-Sharpness: DLP is almost always sharper than LCD, and the fact these are both pixel shifting 4k projectors, Formovie is likely a little sharper.
-Contrast: DLP almost always has worse black levels vs LCD, and the fact Epson is known for its excellent blacks, comes with a dynamic iris (working much more efficiently now with the laser light engine), & also their TrueBlack filter, Epson will have much better contrast & immersive image.
-Gaming: both are low latency projectors, so will have minimal input lag, but Epson has double the refresh rate, so gaming will be smoother on the Epson.
-Picture/colors/HDR: both are likely very similar in colors and brightness once calibrated. The Formovie has Dolby Vision, so can take advantage of the sources that have it (like the Xbox series X), so this is a slight boon in its favor, but the fact the Epson will have better black lvls and also supports HDR 10/10+, you're likely not going to miss it too much.
-Sound: Formovie obviously wins here, but if you're getting a projector, you likely have a sound system already that always beats something built-in like this. This also means all the rnd that went into the Epson was applied to the projector...
Winner (imo): Epson LS
Have you don't a video on your fav. UST projector? I'm thinking of the XGIMI Aura. I have a Sony VLP40 dlp projector now, will I be disappointed going to a UST? On the Formovie, $3500 and no 3D, hell no.
Amazing review. What would you recommend? Fengmi formovie theatre vs Xgimi aura vs Optoma p2? Im confused between these three and need some advice
Fengmi gives more accurate picture 100%
Hey How is it for gaming?? Is the input lag bad?? Does is support PS5 or Xbox gaming demands? Connecting a sound at easy??? Does it support a wireless sound system?
Also what ALR Screen did you pair it with?
about 35ms in global ver. and 45ms t1 chinese ver. input lag. its not bad, but not super perfect, like monitor or some tv with fast modes, but its pretty good and xbox series x games looks amazing. Sound u can use internal, or throw external amp throw hdmi or optical output, thats not hard to configure it. Also u can use Bluetooth
How far from the wall for 120” screen? No one seems to ever give this info, I think it can be a deal breaker
It's exactly 1 ft.
@@justinbeamon6624 wow, that’s really quite far out. That’s out for me then
Awesome! The Amazon link is to the nebula. Please can you post the correct link 👍
Think It is a location thing, are you from the UK? Not sure if its on UK amazon yet so its just pulling up something related
@@ItsSamuelJones ah maybe, I'm in Ireland. Thanks for the amazing review👍
Thanks! Should be available in next few months I think..
Links to a different projector?
Can this be ceiling mounted?
Yes
Did you see the rainbow effect?
Can it be mounted in the ceiling?
No
They actually are all HDMI 2.1 ports BUT sadly not 4k120 so they might as well be HDMI 2.0 😞
fengmi t1 or xiaomi cinema 2 ???
Definitely Formovie Theater
You can get the bomaker Polaris for $1700 nearly half the price. I have that one and for the money it's hard to beat it.
$3,499 USD. I'm going to have to pass on this one, it's a little (way) outside my budget.
Yeah great, not a single unit is available, completely sold out.
No netflix. Diabolical Awful
Weird my comment has been deleted… I was just pointing out false statement in your video. If you don’t like critics don’t publish videos on YT
I didn't delete your comment? Not in my "held for review" either what was it. I'm always keen for feedback!
You just talk to much with minimal information.
When you lie down and go to sleep at night in your star wars pyjamas... i assume alone. How much does the formovie logo bother you then?
😂 I might ask my wife to get me some star wars pj's for Christmas.
