    This is a wonderful description of Critical path! Excellent. It is truly one of the best explanations of critical path that can be found. I have one request. I have the volume turned up all the way on my PC would it be possible for you to speak louder or to turn up the volume on your microphone. The course is excellent. Thank you.

    Nice and good video for beginner. I tried to recreate the project, however I got a question on minutes 3:27 why Task 7,8,9,10 not included as critical path as they are directly linked together with the Task 13 and Task 14. Appreciate your response. Thanks btw

    Hi Mr Christian Alt, I would like to follow EVERY your MS project tutorials, however the numbering of your videos is bit confusing. Like I can not find #10, tutorials after #11 have clear track number, but I am struggle to locate from #1 to #10. Do you have link of COMPLETE ms project tutorial series? I do not want to miss anything. Currently we as company are using BIM and interactive 3d pdf to completely revolutionize construction documenting from working drawing, bill of quantity, CMP- construction management plan is the last piece..thank you!

    Bonjour Monsieur ! Connaissez-vous une méthode de montrer de multiples chemns critiques grâce à MS Project?

    • @vision6D
      @vision6D  2 года назад

      Bonjour,
      Etes-vous bien sûr d'avoir de multiples chemins critiques dans le même projet?
      Ms Project ne vous montrera qu'un chemin critique car à ma connaissance il n'y en a qu'un. Si je peux me permettre je soupçonne une erreur d'interprétation.
      Bonnes salutations.

    Hi do you know to exclude son task from critical path? lets say I have 2 chains of task, but the longest one is not real critical path. how can I show the shortest one as a critical path?

    • @vision6D
      @vision6D  3 года назад

      Thank you for your question. Do we agree that the critical path shows all the tasks that must be done on time in order to finish the project on schedule?
      Then some of the tasks in the longest path are surely on the critical path. So no you cannot exclude them.
      What is for you the importance/ priority of the two chains of tasks?
      Have a great day.

    Can someone help? I have a number of stand alone workshops which have to be completed on specific dates. If I use predecessor it throws out the critical path and the completion dates for the workshops. They don't really have a predecessor. Any idea how I can represent the workshops without messing up the schedule?

      @@vision6D Thank you for responding. I've tried both manual and auto tasks and both seem to make a mess of the CP and the schedule in general. I'm lost ( and a bit hopeless!)

    Hi Christian
    My project is mid way and I had to insert some additional tasks to it. Then I had some resource over-allocation issue. I did resource level all and resolved it . But after the leveling all my previous critical tasks are no longer critical anymore as all of them had Total Slack=1. There was one task that was critical with a duration of 2 days. But project summary shows my project duration is 109 days over a period of 5 months.
    My question is how MS Project is calculating the project duration as 109 days when my Gantt charts shows there is only one critical task in red of duration 2 days? My understanding is the longest path is the critical path and that also determines the earliest date project finishes. Now I have only one critical task left with a 2 days duration. Surely this cannot be my longest path? Puzzled?
    This issue happen only after I did the resource leveling before that all my critical path task were in red with Total slack=0.
    Hope to hear from you with regard to this strange issue.
    Best Rgds

      Hello,
      For me it is really difficult to give you a correct answer without the files from before and after. But I can give you some thoughts.
      Levelling resources is something that I use rarely because we do not know what really happens.
      For me it is better to understand why the file contains over allocation, once I really understand it I use levelling, or I do it manually.
      On duration calculation Ms project is calculating the time between start of first task and end of last task.
      For the critical path, I would look if you have margins, this removes the critical path.
      Otherwise I noticed that total calculation by Ms Project is sometimes strange, but I do not have explanations on this.
      All this does not really correct your issues, but take them as directions I would dig.
      Have a great day.

      @@vision6D I understand your approach of doing it manually but is this a standard approach? Most of the literature in books and videos it always shown to use the Resource Level all i.e. letting the system do it for you. Then u don't know what the system does but is one way convenient. I will send my mpp file and you will what I mean with regard to my issue. Thanks again to your kind respond

    • @vision6D

      @@kishranai6262 books and videos have to describe the feature. It is better to understand the issue before to launch the levelling function.

      The file has been corrected and sent to you. One of your task was set as a margin (44). I added an additional link and now you see all the tasks on the critical path.

      Margins, margins, margins in resources, materials and finances. Since I do not know how your project is planned, this is what I would advise to check. Of course I can add that you are happy with the costs, delays and deliverables.
      In the video below I give some additionnal informations about margins and slack:
