Ohh yes Aaliyah is very important. She didn’t get to reach her full potential with her death unfortunately. She has a Oscar nominated song called journey to the past I think that you would really really like. I would react to the video and then the live version. You just can’t go wrong with her.
Diane Warren has written some of the most well-known songs of the 90s: This (1996), “Un Break My Heart” by Tony Braxton, “Because you loved me” by Celine Dion, “Have You Ever?” by Brandy, “I don’t wanna miss a thing” by Aerosmith, “Don’t Turn Around” by Ace of Base, “For You I Will” by Monica, and I could go on and on. She was the top ballad writer. As far as this: So between the album version’s recording (early 1996) and the single’s recording (1997), even though it was a short amount of time, Aaliyah’s voice had matured and evolved a considerable amount, considering she went from being 16/17 to being 18. So she utilized the maturation in her voice and belted in this single version. Other songs that showcase the maturity in her voice: “I Refuse” and “Giving Up” (it was a demo for the movie sparkle)

Of course Aaliyah could belt but she would always say her signature style was the breathy falsetto. She had a mellifluous sound and could really animate or bring a song to life by having her voice and her body (thru dance) ride the beat/melody.

This is definitely one of her more ballad-y type songs. Knowing what we know now about her relationship with R Kelly... The song hits totally different. Aaliyah was Jane Doe #1 in the R Kelly lawsuit. You're so right about her style, Aaliyah even today is still the coolest. Her originality and authenticity still hits over 20 years after her death. A whole generation of artists and people in general were inspired by and still are inspired by Aaliyah. She changed the whole game. The coolest thing about her is that every single person she came into contact with, or worked with, every single person has said such kind things about her. The people she worked with on her final movie were all heartbroken when she died, the cast, the crew, even her voice coach she worked with weekly via phone to come up with how her character would talk in the movie.... They all were heartbroken and all expressed how amazing and how different she was. She was a beautiful, talented, class act through and through.
...her vocal coach was the one that triggered me i have to say.....their relationship was just....next level......how of course he knew her NAME...but had not heard of her music...but his CHILDREN LOST THEIR MINDS WHEN HE TOLD THEM HE WAS GOING TO WORK WITH HER...and how she...and he became so ....essential to each other for a brief and beautiful time.....she was truly unique....
@@CuirPhotodotNet yes!! He wasn't familiar with her work at all and became an instant supporter after working with her. Everyone that worked with her felt this way. I recall seeing so many rock artists doing interviews and being heartbroken over her passing... They all said she came up to me behind the scenes at a show and said omg I love this track, this track, this track... and we fell in love with her. She really was just something super different. And just when you thought you knew who she was, she would come out of left field with something so different than you'd expect. Super dimensional.
Aaliyah could really Sing. But most of her songs weren’t written with alot of Belting that’s why you don’t see it from her a lot . I Care 4 U is another song she sings with a lot of Belting . Plus she’s 16 here .
Diane Warren was one of the very best of ballad writers back then. If you heard a beautiful song it was very often written by Diane Warren (leave out the people who wrote their own).
Favorite Aaliyah song without a doubt... this was incredible. The album version is ok, but this is insanely good. Diane Warren wrote "Run to the Arms" by X-Scape. You can hear the similarities in the two. Great reaction my guy. New sub here.
I think she styled herself really I remember a video on RUclips or something where she said ppl make fun of her cause she dress like a Tom boy 👦 😅😊but she likes her style everything u see and hear is her it’s how she wants it to be ❤
Aaliyah's back on the channel🎉 I know it sucks that her reaction videos get blocked but there is now a c0pyr!g+ lift on her music, it seems. Try reuploading the ones that got blocked & keep the reactions coming💪🏾 Never Givin Up, I Care 4 U, Givin Up, & Street Thing are great songs to react to as well
@@bridgethegapreactionsthank you for showing her love💪🏾 it's up to us, her loyal supporters, to keep her legacy alive💯 hope to see you evolve into one of those. Already can tell you enjoy her👏🏾
I went to the Same School as Aaliyah. She was a Vocal Major and Dance Major. D.S.A In Detroit. Listen to I care 4 you. She's a power house. Her early music sounds like that
Oh this pains me cos it's such a great song and I'm so glad you reacted to it but....and you must have opinions coming at you from all angles,...but who told you the single version was better? Its not. It never is. Trust me. Please do a comparison video ❤
She's vocally Trained, but her confront zone was always trying new things, I never met another Singers who's voice has a Skill alone mixed with Swag. Listen to the versatility, beats, she crossed Generes like Janet jackson with Rick hits, Latin, Hip Hop, rap, blues, the last album gives you were she was going vocally before her death. Mixing melodies with Rao Trap beats from the planet Venus.
Her voice is so unique. I miss her so much even 20 years later...

Diane Warren is amazing, she also did Monica's, 'for you I will' and Brandy's, 'have you ever?' also rnb ballad classics
Well fair enough, maybe I need to educate myself on Diane Warren!
@@bridgethegapreactions I'd start by reacting to those songs. They're great
