The Tribit is a decent sounding speaker, good bass and great VFM. Ive used it solely for outdoors for over 2 months now and its performing more than I hoped for. Scratches everwhere and at least 2 dents near the bottom of the speaker, flung around with no case or bag and I felt nothin. The joys of a cheap good sounding speaker. Batt life is great, it lasted me from 5pm to 7am at 60-80% volume during a drinking session and it sounded better and better as the night went on. 😂😂😂😂😂 Best thing that happened? People nearby were coming over to ask about the Tribit, they said the bass sounded really deep and punchy a few tents away. Lmao! At 180usd, nothing, I mean NOTHING, comes close. W-King, Soundcore, HK, you name it, they have nothing on the Blast in every aspect.
always value your input as I know you are into your audio and frequent all the usual suspects channels 💪 its a great value speaker and i have said as much 😁 however some are claiming it sounds HiFi and i personally wonder what their reference is if they think this is HiFi. Whats your opinion on that? Not sure if its just me but reading your thoughts the first thing that struck me is your drinking sessions are too short 😝
@@alanrossreviews I think why some are calling it 'hifi' because it has somewhat a more refined treble compared to others. Not harsh and kind of sparkly. Not too bad actually, they sound more hifi-ish than Marshalls here. Definitely not for critical listening but as a whole, a good package for its price. Ive tried eq-ing it based on your measurements and eyeballing the true value of each step of frequency in the eq to make as neutral as possible and they sound alright. Not hifi, but better than the MBP. Lol!
@@alanrossreviews as a matter of fact, I noticed something lacking in the mids, something that is making it sound thin and rather V shaped and Im quite certain its not from the 3.5khz to 5.5khz range. Im trying to make it less sound less v shaped by bumping down the lower and higher frequencies and so far its working better (if you want such a sound to begin with). For my specific use which is outdoors, a V shape is what I actually want though. I can imagine that if the dip wasnt there it would sound more edgy and shrill, which can be a bad thing afterall.

I've had the Tribit Stormbox Blast a few days now and it's very impressive. I don't listen to Bass heavy music like EDM or dance music... but I'm happy to report the SBB is a great all rounder speaker that plays Rock, Hard Rock, Metal etc... beautifully with great impact. When I have the speaker in a corner close to walls I turn the Extra Bass off because it's almost too much. The SBB speaker actually sounds fine with the XBass off and still delivers some nice impactful Bass.
Hello Alan, and thanks. I understand all that you say mate. We are pretty much on the same wavelength!!!! I am a bit of a bass-head myself and when you compared the original recording of "Thin Ice", it had traces of lower bass frequencies that even the Blast couldn't produce. Still I have intentions of purchasing 2 Try-Bits (the mechanics of the English language makes it Try Bit because of the presence of 1 B and not 2 B's ) which would still be cheaper here in Canada than purchasing one Boombox. It's great that you added the original track. Now it's easier to hear which box is closer to the original. It's easier to judge the highs, mids and lows now. 👍
In Short, the Tribit Blast IS the best thing since sliced bread. Want to go smaller? It's Monitor Audio S150. Want to go all out? The Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin Air. Speaking as an owner of two JBL Boombox 2's, I can confirm the Blast wipes the proverbial floor when compared with one on its own. BB2's are just so 'Limited' in every sense of the word. Does the Blast Thump just as good? Hell Yeah - it's noticeable better (90 Watts!). Is it more Customisable? For Sure - in every way possible. Is the Light show Gay? Nope. It's a great addition, in fact. All that remains to be said is a) Get your hands on one now and b) Thank Alan Ross profusely. Indeed Tribit have reinvented the proverbial wheel with this one. Just Faultless and Flawless. 10/10 Did I mention the Battery Life is utterly insane (!)
Another great video Alan! I have 2 of the Stormbox Blasts and like the Soundcore Boom, having two makes a big difference. I played around with the eq last weekend and was very curious to see what your eq settings were. Your custom eq is not too far off from mine so I guess I did okay. @@alanrossreviews honestly, I haven't really noticed. I think the XBASS sounds great, but the mids are a little too much for me with that setting. I brought the 800 hz slider down to -2 and both the 400 hz and 1.6k down to 0 in my custom eq setting. My other sliders are similar to yours. The Tribit eq doesn't seem to have as much effect as the Soundcore eq. I returned my two Motion Boom Plus speakers for the two Tribit Stormbox Blasts - too much uncertainty about the PR's in the Boom Plus . You had some influence in that decision, so thank you!
@@bapienjo3835 yes, I'm on 2.2 with no real problems. I did have an issue with the right speaker crackeling every once in a while. I reset both speakers and made sure to set the eq the same on both. Played music through them yesterday for about an hour after doing this and the problem seemed to go away. I also emailed Tribit but haven't heard back yet. I also re-booted my phone in case there was an issue there. I'm using an iPhone 11.
Got my blast yesterday and am VERY impressed!!! More bass and louder than my Sony XG500, unless I plug the Sony in, and then they are comparable. Completely destroys the soundcore motion boom plus.

Alan, I'm so glad you were able to get the Vifa Oslo and compare it to other speakers. I haven't had a chance to compare it to the newer speakers and hearing your perspective is always great. Most of my speakers are getting a little long in the tooth at this point.
yeah i couldnt resist after your comments and because i got a deal, but i have found it requires careful track selection to make it sound fantastic, other tracks can sound really off. might just be my unit 🤷♂️

I currently have the JBL Xtreme 2 and I enjoy the sound, but it seems to have recessed mids and I am not sure it can go as loud as these speakers. Long battery and loud sound are my priority. I need to keep researching which speakers to check out for a beach party. Due to traveling on the train, pairing speakers might not be a good idea unless they are the size of the Soundcore Motion+
The Tribit company is really starting to make a clear statement about what you should expect from a bluetooth speaker in the 2022 and the foreseeable future. This device is designed very very good its hard to not love this tribit stormbox blast.
I really can't wait until they create a partybox size device, and I really wish they will create a new way to partycast or party connect there stormbox devices to on another. Also thanks for the feedback. 👍
Waiting for my sb to arrive. I hope Tribit sees this video. Idk if it’s possible for that dip to be fixed via software. Idk maybe there’s a hardware limitation. But hoping that it can be fixed through software without compromising hardware. It’ll surely be a blast for consumers if this can be tweaked via software.

The Oslo is a more refined speaker to be sure (reflected by its much more refined price 😵). The T9 is OK (probably a better buy than the Boom+ at this point) but I'd rather put my money on the Blast and have impressive bass without having to worry about the exposed port. t9 is very niche, quite unlike w-king and yes ports are rare on speakers like this. i dont think it replaces anything but is a nice quirky option on its own if deep bass is not a requirement
Kind of odd to compare to Oslo. The Tribit is more than double the weight (12 lbs vs 5.3) and nearly twice the size! The Oslo has a more refined and balanced sound with higher quality components. It's in a different league, but is not a party or outdoor speaker, but is wonderful as a more personal speaker. A more fair comparison would have been the Copenhagen 2. Even the HK Go+Play, which can give the Tribit more of a competition from a big bass perspective with its 100 watts is 4.5 lbs lighter. It too is more refined and higher quality. Besides, what is the use case for the Tribit? Indoors you undoubtedly have vastly superior speaker systems. In an outdoors noisy environment there are way better options than the Tribit, and anyways no one would even notice the EQ. For travel you'd need something lighter.
Oluv's tuned Masterpiece is out and abailable on various platforms. (EARFUN UBOOM L). Can you let us all know Alan, when you can drop your critical and comprehensive review on this so we can decide weather to purchase or leave well alone. Please compare with Soundcore Motion+ as Oluv belives its head and shoulders above any Anker offering or JBL or Tribit for that matter! An independent ,critical unbissed review is needed Alan. The T9 is probably the best option if sound quality and warm full stage sound with a lot of bass is more important than water resistance or maximum mobility. Especially since the first update T9-1 and now the T9-2, the W-King sounds a lot better than the other options. There even seems to be a special update available if you ask the support which will change the mix so that it’s even more bass heavy if you want the maximum possible.

Another stellar review Alan! I'll definitely be buying a Stormbox Blast thanks to all your hard work. The only con for this speaker seems to be the 3.5KHz dip. Why do you think that dip exists? Is it a physical design problem that can't be solved with a firmware update? The original track comparison for Thin Ice was great! I was surprised how much of the original track's sound was absent in both speakers.The missing parts seemed to be around the upper-midrange frequencies. Would that be in the dreaded 5.5KHz dip for the Stormbox?
these are simpy Bluetooth speakers, so many variables but fundamentally they are not getting the full information for the track, sbc low bitrate is a bugger. i havent heard anyone else complain so at this point i dont know if that dip is just my unit or they all do this

i havent tried, its not what the channel is about. but to be honest, if you want to reproduce the original track you need to spend way more money and need separates, you will never get that from these budget speakers that cant produce a soundstage anyway because that requires distance between the drivers. depending on your ears they can get close to sheer frequency matching but that does not translate into sounding like the original.

Now here is my question: I listen 99% via Spotify which has a software EQ with a slider on 4kHz and 14kHz. Can I "equalize" some of the 5kHz dip on the blast with this option? 19:30 In the graph, you can see that Oslo is following the original song curve nicely with slight tilt difference (I suspect measurement system is a bit off in tilt actually), tribit clearly introduced anomalies in comparison...
My mic setup? Yeah cant eq out the 5.5khz dip but for me in stock has a little too much sizzle which i wanted to smooth out. My neutral setting shouldn't be too far off the original although its no monitor so never going to be transparent. I agree about the upper bass but its the nature of crowd pleasing eq that they boost that area. So the vifa app will still work? I thought it no longer worked on new speakers?
Ive had the Vifa Copenhagen 2.0 and now i have the Tribit Stormbox Blast and ive had so much more fun listen to the Tribit its quite shocking for me maybe i persuaded myself that i must like the vifa because its "neutral". However im in love with the great sound of the Tribit thanks for your review against the Boombox!
@@alanrossreviews I dont know if i can explain it right (i havent heard it for months on higher volume) i mean im not a audio engineer or something but at low levels the Vifa dont make fun at all in the bass i have an studio monitor (Adam a7x) i dont know how neutral they are against the vifa but somehow they make so much more fun too listen to even at low volume. With higher volume the vifa is ok but i always had the opinion that something is missing in the bass too really have fun too listen to it (maybe because it dont have this "ground shaking bass" which my adams have if you turn them up in my room) I compared them side by side and the Vifa was good in the details (mids & highs) but in the bass the Adams was (in my opinion) so much better. I dont know maybe i dont hear right or its not comparable. Also the battery isnt great on the Vifa my unit had some strange problem that it doesnt play loud at max volume anymore so i got my money back and buyed the tribit.

I know it's crazy i never thought there would be such interest. Now im nervous to eq anything in case i get slaughtered 😂 the truth is the same model speaker varies so much eqs are never a straight drop-in and then you have the issue of different firmwares.
it would be interresting to hear comparision between speakers in similiar price level - 1x Tribit vs 2x Boom. Cost almost this same. Which one device better to buy, to maximize sound quality at home (including bass, mids, treble and overall sound)...?

i had to watch the ALAN ROSS LAB!video again!! i finally got the tribit app on my new phone! i agree!! the equalizer can be a pain in the ass. cant move the sliders very well! soundcore is far better eq. i have not tried to save anything yet. until they fix it???? i just leave it in X BASS. lol!!
its working better now but still flaky. yeah that oslo can hit low but its disjointed bass so only sounds impressive if the track has the bass peak in just the right place 😂
Alan. Really enjoy your reviews. Recently purchased Tribit Blast. Love the speaker, today I saw firmware update to 3.0, I would like your thoughts on it. Since updating speaker sounds much different. I need to turn it up more to achieve same volume as before. Bass not as deep or punch, higher end seems louder. Please do review if you can.
the vifa oslo is not a hifi kind of sound rather its a beginner into audio kind of sound that masks a clearer or brighter kind of sound which in longer listening sessions cause ear fatigue,while the tribit in comparisson has balanced kind of sound more into hifi sound
Nope, actually Oslo has a very slight mid boost overall in neutral mode but it plays much nicer than the Tribit in reality. You can even see it 24:35 look at anomalies that tribit introduces to the sound in comparison to the original song, Oslo is following the curve very closely tho measurements seem to be off here in tilt... I'm not sure what mics does sir Alan use but you can literally do a sine sweep and hear that its not correct, this one is with song of course

@@myplaguesify there is no such thing as a Hifi sound with a hole in its frequency response. I'm talking about That nasty 5khz dip, Hifi speakers don't do that and only Vifa follows what a Hifi speaker should sound and how smooth the transition from bass to treble.
@@myplaguesify also the graph proves it, Vifa Oslo's Response is identical to the Original track, although there is a slight elevation when going into the harmonics, I don't see this as a problem as long as there is no weird peak or dip that may cause ear discomfort at longer listening sessions.

Well the Osla preformed pretty good as far as sound quality for its age but in 2022 for 500$ hell no 😂 still would be interested in seeing other comparisons
there are a lot of speakers from 2016 still doing it today, shows that was a golden period in Bluetooth portables when they really tried to make things better, now its just rehashing old stuff.

Gotta say I love the sound of the Blast - got a Motion Boom and playing them side by side, the Boom now sounds thin (which was earlier a meaty sound to me 😂). yes i have two eqs on my IG. one for a more balanced bass heavy listen which tames that little nasally high it has and also a neutral eq which is how i listen to it indoors now. this thing is probably the best value speaker out their currently i think.
Hi Allan, thanks for all the hard work and honest reviews. I today used your eq settings on the blast but for me it sounded a little bit more closed with your tuning, compared to the music tuning of TRIBIT. Can you relate to this?
yes because i have reduced a little of the upper bass and highs smoothing it out. so if you prefer more sizzle you will find it a bit subdued. im not trying to say use my settings, im just showing what you can do and what i do personally for my own taste. we all have different ears and different tastes and indeed different speakers 😁
Hi Alan, today i received my 2nd Mifa Wildbox and i could not believe how immersive and loud it sounds when its two, and its even still not in real TWS. Almost bought the Stormbox Blast but the size and weight kept me away from it, 2x a Mifa Wildbox is still very comfortable and easy to bring with me to other places outside of home. I Also think it can only get better with the TWS coming up soon and the launch of their app so firmware updates become easier to load (hopefully).

I bought a W-King T9 a few months ago thanks to your recommendation and I really like it. I know you don't like using non-speaker brand EQs but since the W-King T9 generally only lacks deep bass I used a Bass Booster app which I think helped a lot to give it just those frequencies were missing, only subtracting a little maximum volume. It would be very cool if an expert like you tried it to see if it gives good results. 🙈 Just saying
I am suprised that you say the t9 lacks bass when is generally known the be quite strong on the bass side. But probably you used the old original t9 when the updated version are said to sound a lot better then the boom

Sometimes when I watch other reviewers some of them have millions of viewers and there reviews are not as detailed as yours, they tend to just gloss over without going into any depth. Great 2 see the vifa oslo again :) quite some time honestly. However since the death of vifa seems like their speakers have been getting slightly worse kinda, thus adding the fact of its age in history nowadays seems like speakers can be made better for cheaper, however even though expesive the vifa still not only from sound i also like their design and aesthetics, really one of the few companies that had great sound in mind. RIP. About the blast though does reducing its upper bass to 0 cause effect or real boost of deeper sound? I ask this as i do on my diy speakers and without boosting deep bass they sound much tighter instead of bloated for instance.
Yeah its a lifestyle speaker with a big price tag for that. With the right tracks it can sound fantastic but for me it can also sound off if the track doesn't have the bass just where the oslo excels. Do you mean does reducing the upper bass bring the deeper bass into focus as though it had been boosted? If so then yes, i find thats nearly always the case when the speaker itself can truly play deep.
@@alanrossreviews its not perfect the oslo, also can lead to some more distortion even if on neutral eq at max vol, at least it did before, the helsinki is better at that and the treble also imo. Yes i meant reducing it that way indeed, just wanted to find out if it was possible, because its the kind of effect that make my shit, cheap filtered diy speakers alive 😂😂. Also helps out with distortion imo, deep bass, even if increased in place of upper bass causes less distortion however in respect to woofer response i suppose..

I say the vifa helsinki is the best, because of oluvs helsinki but he stated only that one was the perfect one he found, and on his late night vids it sounded interesting in the small room it was, great punch and nice treble only missing dispersion, i got fascinated by it tbh. Can be a hit or miss or else they are ruined for good, by chinese capitalists i say. Fun fact: part of the reason i have the stockwell 2 was kinda because of that, it gave me similiar vibe to the helsinki, although it has blumelin sound quite similar and the looks too. Though for cheaper and well a class below. Keep up the good work, hope ur not tired of me talking about oluv btw..

I personally think the lightshow of the tribit gives it a very cheap look. I know you can deactivate it, but still you see the lightbar which looks childish to me. I would prefer a more mature look. Because of that i bought the Soundcore. Thx for your reviews.
@@FrancisTernero1 I have two Booms already and my 1x Blast will be delivered tomorrow, I wondered about Boom Plus but too many negative reviews so far, but it seems Tribit was not overhyped so will give a try ;). My goal is to have few sets I can choose which will deliver the most accurate sound experience for my friends at outdoor parties. 1x Motion Boom is super light and long battery lasting vs how loud it goes - great if you need to walk a long distance to the party spot. 2x Motion Booms - it's also not a huge problem to carry both in a backpack, or ask a friend to take one ;) - but if mobility is not an issue, I aim to pack a single Blast into my car and deliver that deep bass which is so missing in my Booms. Also, I really need the AUX in case I'd like to play a live set on my DDJ-200, so for the ultimate setup I will try to get a second hand Blast in next weeks/months, to be able to really "Blast" any outdoor parties with either 2x Booms or 2x Blasts, depending on the circumstances and keeping it more immerse than Partybox 110 :) So in my view there is no option to have 1x speaker. I also own a Motion+ and previously had 2x Motion+ but sold one. That's because the clarity on Motion+ is brilliant, but the bass was non-existing comparing to a single Boom, but I still keep it and love for the compact design and it works well in my kitchen when I don't need a deep bass while cooking :D. So really it will always depend what setup will be better, try few, try second hand - sell if you don't like it and keep what works best for you.
@@piotrfrozen The Motion Boom conveniently located (in a corner, better) gives me the bass I need and often impresses friends :) But it is true that it lacks an auxiliary input, although in my case it is something that I do not need. Speaking of the Motion Plus, I also keep two because it was my first TWS, but they never convinced me completely since, although their mids and highs are very good, they suffer from their total absence of deep bass. Dude, I have to tell you that I have kept my Technics modular Hi-Fi system since 1995 and believe me when I say that sometimes I prefer to use my Booms XD

@Alan Does the new 2.2 firmware reduces the bass quicker? I just got the speaker and updated to 2.2 immediatelly. Realized that the bass cuts off quite significantly when you pass around 80% volume.
i havent tried that firmware yet but limiting from 80% is pretty much standard for 85% of bluetooth speakers. its not that bass reduces its that it doesnt increase while mids and highs do for extra volume. but bass wont go past its distortion limit.

What codec does the Tribit have, SBC, AAC, etc. I can’t find it on their website. Also if you could, what about the Soundcore Motion Boom Plus, does it use SBC or AAC. All of the speakers that I have that only use SBC just don’t have the same treble resolution as the ones that have AAC. Thanks!

they are all quite different though everyone is tlaking about motion plus vs uboom l. the motion boom is simply different level for bass, that alone would make it my choice. as im currently testing the other two against each other i will hold my judgement till next week 👍
no you can only have one pound for pound champ, thats what pound for pound means. but the blast is worth 200 bucks for sure, but given its weight and more boombox than hifi nature i cant make it a champ
Thanks for reviewing this device with the wking t9. Also I see the difference between the two. The Tribit is very great at low deep Immersive bass almost like smothering bass. Why the wking is good with sound and with thumping upper bass. If I have to pick between the two i want bass the tribit is the way to go. I'm really starting to love this tribit stormbox blast. Got my 2nd tribit micro just to experience how tws feels. But the new one sounds quite different, slightly less bass and less treble. But the old one is 1.5years old maybe it improved due to burn in🤔. Its shocking how the difference is so noticeable with every music.
you got a second v1? so many variables at play its hard to know what may be the reason. 1.5 years on they are likely not even using the exact same materials as the first ones.
well the boom plus has a place but not for a musical listen indoors. im waiting for the 6khz fix although its not bad but the blast is better but of course much heavier.

The Tribit is a decent sounding speaker, good bass and great VFM. Ive used it solely for outdoors for over 2 months now and its performing more than I hoped for. Scratches everwhere and at least 2 dents near the bottom of the speaker, flung around with no case or bag and I felt nothin. The joys of a cheap good sounding speaker. Batt life is great, it lasted me from 5pm to 7am at 60-80% volume during a drinking session and it sounded better and better as the night went on. 😂😂😂😂😂 Best thing that happened? People nearby were coming over to ask about the Tribit, they said the bass sounded really deep and punchy a few tents away. Lmao! At 180usd, nothing, I mean NOTHING, comes close. W-King, Soundcore, HK, you name it, they have nothing on the Blast in every aspect.

@@alanrossreviews I think why some are calling it 'hifi' because it has somewhat a more refined treble compared to others. Not harsh and kind of sparkly. Not too bad actually, they sound more hifi-ish than Marshalls here. Definitely not for critical listening but as a whole, a good package for its price. Ive tried eq-ing it based on your measurements and eyeballing the true value of each step of frequency in the eq to make as neutral as possible and they sound alright. Not hifi, but better than the MBP. Lol!

@@alanrossreviews as a matter of fact, I noticed something lacking in the mids, something that is making it sound thin and rather V shaped and Im quite certain its not from the 3.5khz to 5.5khz range. Im trying to make it less sound less v shaped by bumping down the lower and higher frequencies and so far its working better (if you want such a sound to begin with). For my specific use which is outdoors, a V shape is what I actually want though. I can imagine that if the dip wasnt there it would sound more edgy and shrill, which can be a bad thing afterall.

I've had the Tribit Stormbox Blast a few days now and it's very impressive. I don't listen to Bass heavy music like EDM or dance music... but I'm happy to report the SBB is a great all rounder speaker that plays Rock, Hard Rock, Metal etc... beautifully with great impact. When I have the speaker in a corner close to walls I turn the Extra Bass off because it's almost too much. The SBB speaker actually sounds fine with the XBass off and still delivers some nice impactful Bass.

I am a bit of a bass-head myself and when you compared the original recording of "Thin Ice", it had traces of lower bass frequencies that even the Blast couldn't produce. Still I have intentions of purchasing 2 Try-Bits (the mechanics of the English language makes it Try Bit because of the presence of 1 B and not 2 B's ) which would still be cheaper here in Canada than purchasing one Boombox. In Short, the Tribit Blast IS the best thing since sliced bread. Want to go smaller? It's Monitor Audio S150. Want to go all out? The Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin Air. Speaking as an owner of two JBL Boombox 2's, I can confirm the Blast wipes the proverbial floor when compared with one on its own. BB2's are just so 'Limited' in every sense of the word. Does the Blast Thump just as good? Hell Yeah - it's noticeable better (90 Watts!). Is it more Customisable? For Sure - in every way possible. Is the Light show Gay? Nope. It's a great addition, in fact. All that remains to be said is a) Get your hands on one now and b) Thank Alan Ross profusely. Indeed Tribit have reinvented the proverbial wheel with this one. Just Faultless and Flawless. 10/10 Did I mention the Battery Life is utterly insane (!)

@@alanrossreviews honestly, I haven't really noticed. I think the XBASS sounds great, but the mids are a little too much for me with that setting. I brought the 800 hz slider down to -2 and both the 400 hz and 1.6k down to 0 in my custom eq setting. My other sliders are similar to yours. The Tribit eq doesn't seem to have as much effect as the Soundcore eq. I returned my two Motion Boom Plus speakers for the two Tribit Stormbox Blasts - too much uncertainty about the PR's in the Boom Plus . You had some influence in that decision, so thank you!
@@bapienjo3835 yes, I'm on 2.2 with no real problems. I did have an issue with the right speaker crackeling every once in a while. I reset both speakers and made sure to set the eq the same on both. Played music through them yesterday for about an hour after doing this and the problem seemed to go away. I also emailed Tribit but haven't heard back yet. I also re-booted my phone in case there was an issue there. I'm using an iPhone 11.

I currently have the JBL Xtreme 2 and I enjoy the sound, but it seems to have recessed mids and I am not sure it can go as loud as these speakers. Long battery and loud sound are my priority. I need to keep researching which speakers to check out for a beach party. Due to traveling on the train, pairing speakers might not be a good idea unless they are the size of the Soundcore Motion+
The Tribit company is really starting to make a clear statement about what you should expect from a bluetooth speaker in the 2022 and the foreseeable future. This device is designed very very good its hard to not love this tribit stormbox blast.

The Oslo is a more refined speaker to be sure (reflected by its much more refined price 😵). The T9 is OK (probably a better buy than the Boom+ at this point) but I'd rather put my money on the Blast and have impressive bass without having to worry about the exposed port. Thank you as always for your outstanding work, Alan! 😁👍👏
t9 is very niche, quite unlike w-king and yes ports are rare on speakers like this. i dont think it replaces anything but is a nice quirky option on its own if deep bass is not a requirement
Kind of odd to compare to Oslo. The Tribit is more than double the weight (12 lbs vs 5.3) and nearly twice the size! The Oslo has a more refined and balanced sound with higher quality components. It's in a different league, but is not a party or outdoor speaker, but is wonderful as a more personal speaker. A more fair comparison would have been the Copenhagen 2. Even the HK Go+Play, which can give the Tribit more of a competition from a big bass perspective with its 100 watts is 4.5 lbs lighter. It too is more refined and higher quality.
Besides, what is the use case for the Tribit? Indoors you undoubtedly have vastly superior speaker systems. In an outdoors noisy environment there are way better options than the Tribit, and anyways no one would even notice the EQ. For travel you'd need something lighter.

it really brings home though how much is missing when you listen to Bluetooth speakers like these in terms of soundstaging and detail though.
The T9 is probably the best option if sound quality and warm full stage sound with a lot of bass is more important than water resistance or maximum mobility.
Especially since the first update T9-1 and now the T9-2, the W-King sounds a lot better than the other options. There even seems to be a special update available if you ask the support which will change the mix so that it’s even more bass heavy if you want the maximum possible.
so the t9-2 sounds different to the original t9?

First day I got it I tried gettin that code prolly 5 to 10 times lol that was at about 6pm woke up next day check my email I had about 5 to 19 emails with codes ahahahaha I'm like wtf ahagahaha but the speaker is awesome. My dest boy who's only 8 we had it in back of paddle boat yesterday while we fishing and it's a treat speaker. The distance to I can leave it from my phone without losing connection is impressive. This and it's twin that should be here thur will be my new set up and sellin all my other stuff. Maybe someday down t h e road when my kids are grown I will start a channel. I truly love watching reviews about speakers to earbuds to iem's!!!!

Another stellar review Alan! I'll definitely be buying a Stormbox Blast thanks to all your hard work. The only con for this speaker seems to be the 3.5KHz dip. Why do you think that dip exists? Is it a physical design problem that can't be solved with a firmware update? The original track comparison for Thin Ice was great! I was surprised how much of the original track's sound was absent in both speakers.The missing parts seemed to be around the upper-midrange frequencies. Would that be in the dreaded 5.5KHz dip for the Stormbox?
these are simpy Bluetooth speakers, so many variables but fundamentally they are not getting the full information for the track, sbc low bitrate is a bugger. i havent heard anyone else complain so at this point i dont know if that dip is just my unit or they all do this

i havent tried, its not what the channel is about. but to be honest, if you want to reproduce the original track you need to spend way more money and need separates, you will never get that from these budget speakers that cant produce a soundstage anyway because that requires distance between the drivers. depending on your ears they can get close to sheer frequency matching but that does not translate into sounding like the original.

Now here is my question: I listen 99% via Spotify which has a software EQ with a slider on 4kHz and 14kHz. Can I "equalize" some of the 5kHz dip on the blast with this option? 19:30 In the graph, you can see that Oslo is following the original song curve nicely with slight tilt difference (I suspect measurement system is a bit off in tilt actually), tribit clearly introduced anomalies in comparison...
My mic setup? Yeah cant eq out the 5.5khz dip but for me in stock has a little too much sizzle which i wanted to smooth out. My neutral setting shouldn't be too far off the original although its no monitor so never going to be transparent. I agree about the upper bass but its the nature of crowd pleasing eq that they boost that area. So the vifa app will still work? I thought it no longer worked on new speakers?

Ive had the Vifa Copenhagen 2.0 and now i have the Tribit Stormbox Blast and ive had so much more fun listen to the Tribit its quite shocking for me maybe i persuaded myself that i must like the vifa because its "neutral".
However im in love with the great sound of the Tribit thanks for your review against the Boombox!

@@alanrossreviews I dont know if i can explain it right (i havent heard it for months on higher volume) i mean im not a audio engineer or something but at low levels the Vifa dont make fun at all in the bass i have an studio monitor (Adam a7x) i dont know how neutral they are against the vifa but somehow they make so much more fun too listen to even at low volume. With higher volume the vifa is ok but i always had the opinion that something is missing in the bass too really have fun too listen to it (maybe because it dont have this "ground shaking bass" which my adams have if you turn them up in my room)
I compared them side by side and the Vifa was good in the details (mids & highs) but in the bass the Adams was (in my opinion) so much better.
I dont know maybe i dont hear right or its not comparable.
Also the battery isnt great on the Vifa my unit had some strange problem that it doesnt play loud at max volume anymore so i got my money back and buyed the tribit.

its funny how your videos are hardy watched but your EQ settings are the reverence in every reddit or forum post about soundcore and tribit speakers.
I know it's crazy i never thought there would be such interest. Now im nervous to eq anything in case i get slaughtered 😂 the truth is the same model speaker varies so much eqs are never a straight drop-in and then you have the issue of different firmwares.

i had to watch the ALAN ROSS LAB!video again!! i finally got the tribit app on my new phone! i agree!! the equalizer can be a pain in the ass. cant move the sliders very well! soundcore is far better eq. i have not tried to save anything yet. until they fix it???? i just leave it in X BASS. lol!!

Alan. Really enjoy your reviews. Recently purchased Tribit Blast. Love the speaker, today I saw firmware update to 3.0, I would like your thoughts on it. Since updating speaker sounds much different. I need to turn it up more to achieve same volume as before. Bass not as deep or punch, higher end seems louder. Please do review if you can.

the vifa oslo is not a hifi kind of sound rather its a beginner into audio kind of sound that masks a clearer or brighter kind of sound which in longer listening sessions cause ear fatigue,while the tribit in comparisson has balanced kind of sound more into hifi sound
Nope, actually Oslo has a very slight mid boost overall in neutral mode but it plays much nicer than the Tribit in reality. You can even see it 24:35 look at anomalies that tribit introduces to the sound in comparison to the original song, Oslo is following the curve very closely tho measurements seem to be off here in tilt...
I'm not sure what mics does sir Alan use but you can literally do a sine sweep and hear that its not correct, this one is with song of course

@@myplaguesify there is no such thing as a Hifi sound with a hole in its frequency response. I'm talking about That nasty 5khz dip, Hifi speakers don't do that and only Vifa follows what a Hifi speaker should sound and how smooth the transition from bass to treble.
@@myplaguesify also the graph proves it, Vifa Oslo's Response is identical to the Original track, although there is a slight elevation when going into the harmonics, I don't see this as a problem as long as there is no weird peak or dip that may cause ear discomfort at longer listening sessions.

there are a lot of speakers from 2016 still doing it today, shows that was a golden period in Bluetooth portables when they really tried to make things better, now its just rehashing old stuff.
Hello Alan, because of you my wallet just got lighter and brought this big boy home. Gotta say I love the sound of the Blast - got a Motion Boom and playing them side by side, the Boom now sounds thin (which was earlier a meaty sound to me 😂). yes i have two eqs on my IG. one for a more balanced bass heavy listen which tames that little nasally high it has and also a neutral eq which is how i listen to it indoors now. this thing is probably the best value speaker out their currently i think.

Hi Allan, thanks for all the hard work and honest reviews. I today used your eq settings on the blast but for me it sounded a little bit more closed with your tuning, compared to the music tuning of TRIBIT. Can you relate to this?
yes because i have reduced a little of the upper bass and highs smoothing it out. so if you prefer more sizzle you will find it a bit subdued. im not trying to say use my settings, im just showing what you can do and what i do personally for my own taste. we all have different ears and different tastes and indeed different speakers 😁
Hi Alan, today i received my 2nd Mifa Wildbox and i could not believe how immersive and loud it sounds when its two, and its even still not in real TWS.
Almost bought the Stormbox Blast but the size and weight kept me away from it, 2x a Mifa Wildbox is still very comfortable and easy to bring with me to other places outside of home.
I Also think it can only get better with the TWS coming up soon and the launch of their app so firmware updates become easier to load (hopefully).

I bought a W-King T9 a few months ago thanks to your recommendation and I really like it. I know you don't like using non-speaker brand EQs but since the W-King T9 generally only lacks deep bass I used a Bass Booster app which I think helped a lot to give it just those frequencies were missing, only subtracting a little maximum volume. It would be very cool if an expert like you tried it to see if it gives good results. 🙈 Just saying

I am suprised that you say the t9 lacks bass when is generally known the be quite strong on the bass side. But probably you used the old original t9 when the updated version are said to sound a lot better then the boom

Great 2 see the vifa oslo again :) quite some time honestly. However since the death of vifa seems like their speakers have been getting slightly worse kinda, thus adding the fact of its age in history nowadays seems like speakers can be made better for cheaper, however even though expesive the vifa still not only from sound i also like their design and aesthetics, really one of the few companies that had great sound in mind. RIP.
About the blast though does reducing its upper bass to 0 cause effect or real boost of deeper sound? I ask this as i do on my diy speakers and without boosting deep bass they sound much tighter instead of bloated for instance.
Yeah its a lifestyle speaker with a big price tag for that. With the right tracks it can sound fantastic but for me it can also sound off if the track doesn't have the bass just where the oslo excels. Do you mean does reducing the upper bass bring the deeper bass into focus as though it had been boosted? If so then yes, i find thats nearly always the case when the speaker itself can truly play deep.
@@alanrossreviews its not perfect the oslo, also can lead to some more distortion even if on neutral eq at max vol, at least it did before, the helsinki is better at that and the treble also imo.
Yes i meant reducing it that way indeed, just wanted to find out if it was possible, because its the kind of effect that make my shit, cheap filtered diy speakers alive 😂😂. Also helps out with distortion imo, deep bass, even if increased in place of upper bass causes less distortion however in respect to woofer response i suppose..

I say the vifa helsinki is the best, because of oluvs helsinki but he stated only that one was the perfect one he found, and on his late night vids it sounded interesting in the small room it was, great punch and nice treble only missing dispersion, i got fascinated by it tbh.
Can be a hit or miss or else they are ruined for good, by chinese capitalists i say.
Fun fact: part of the reason i have the stockwell 2 was kinda because of that, it gave me similiar vibe to the helsinki, although it has blumelin sound quite similar and the looks too. Though for cheaper and well a class below.

I personally think the lightshow of the tribit gives it a very cheap look. I know you can deactivate it, but still you see the lightbar which looks childish to me. I would prefer a more mature look. Because of that i bought the Soundcore. Thx for your reviews.

@@FrancisTernero1 I have two Booms already and my 1x Blast will be delivered tomorrow, I wondered about Boom Plus but too many negative reviews so far, but it seems Tribit was not overhyped so will give a try ;). My goal is to have few sets I can choose which will deliver the most accurate sound experience for my friends at outdoor parties. 1x Motion Boom is super light and long battery lasting vs how loud it goes - great if you need to walk a long distance to the party spot. 2x Motion Booms - it's also not a huge problem to carry both in a backpack, or ask a friend to take one ;) - but if mobility is not an issue, I aim to pack a single Blast into my car and deliver that deep bass which is so missing in my Booms. Also, I really need the AUX in case I'd like to play a live set on my DDJ-200, so for the ultimate setup I will try to get a second hand Blast in next weeks/months, to be able to really "Blast" any outdoor parties with either 2x Booms or 2x Blasts, depending on the circumstances and keeping it more immerse than Partybox 110 :) So in my view there is no option to have 1x speaker. I also own a Motion+ and previously had 2x Motion+ but sold one. That's because the clarity on Motion+ is brilliant, but the bass was non-existing comparing to a single Boom, but I still keep it and love for the compact design and it works well in my kitchen when I don't need a deep bass while cooking :D. So really it will always depend what setup will be better, try few, try second hand - sell if you don't like it and keep what works best for you.
yup the motion plus was not made for bass, but its got great dispersion and a great eq to tailor the sound

But it is true that it lacks an auxiliary input, although in my case it is something that I do not need.
Speaking of the Motion Plus, I also keep two because it was my first TWS, but they never convinced me completely since, although their mids and highs are very good, they suffer from their total absence of deep bass.
Dude, I have to tell you that I have kept my Technics modular Hi-Fi system since 1995 and believe me when I say that sometimes I prefer to use my Booms XD

well i would watch movies with any bluetooth speaker but if you do it will depend if you want to emphasise bass or vocals
@@alanrossreviews yes I get that, I am thinking of connecting it to my laptop with aux, and I feel it has more bass than I would prefer, I like clearer vocals. ( I am quite novice in this, don’t understand much about frequencies etc)
I was pretty much satisfied with it as long as I listened to music only, but for movies I think it is a bit too bassy.

With a budget of 150€ - 200€, what is the best setup for outdoor parties? no need for too much bass but big volume so leaning towards two motion booms (currently 75€ each) but no aux port - not a deal breaker but would be a plus, what you guys think? Tnx!

Does the new 2.2 firmware reduces the bass quicker?
I just got the speaker and updated to 2.2 immediatelly. Realized that the bass cuts off quite significantly when you pass around 80% volume.
i havent tried that firmware yet but limiting from 80% is pretty much standard for 85% of bluetooth speakers. its not that bass reduces its that it doesnt increase while mids and highs do for extra volume. but bass wont go past its distortion limit.

My Dockin D FINE plus did not do that, even though it had a weaker bass in overall because of the size, it kept it in sync to the max volume levels.
It was quite impressive at the time, but now when I hear Stormbox Blast it just blasts it :)

What codec does the Tribit have, SBC, AAC, etc. I can’t find it on their website. Also if you could, what about the Soundcore Motion Boom Plus, does it use SBC or AAC. All of the speakers that I have that only use SBC just don’t have the same treble resolution as the ones that have AAC. Thanks!

yes the eq is embedded into the speaker.

I am asking because there are many opinions that Motion + is better than Motion Boom, so I feel confused... As for UBOOM L, after watching the tests on YT, I am afraid that it has too little bass for electronic music. :/
they are all quite different though everyone is tlaking about motion plus vs uboom l. the motion boom is simply different level for bass, that alone would make it my choice. as im currently testing the other two against each other i will hold my judgement till next week 👍

no you can only have one pound for pound champ, thats what pound for pound means. but the blast is worth 200 bucks for sure, but given its weight and more boombox than hifi nature i cant make it a champ

Thanks for reviewing this device with the wking t9. Also I see the difference between the two. The Tribit is very great at low deep Immersive bass almost like smothering bass. Why the wking is good with sound and with thumping upper bass. If I have to pick between the two i want bass the tribit is the way to go. I'm really starting to love this tribit stormbox blast. Great job to Tribit.
but if you dont listen to bass heavy stuff the t9 is probably a better listen 👍

Got my 2nd tribit micro just to experience how tws feels. But the new one sounds quite different, slightly less bass and less treble. But the old one is 1.5years old maybe it improved due to burn in🤔. Its shocking how the difference is so noticeable with every music.
you got a second v1? so many variables at play its hard to know what may be the reason. 1.5 years on they are likely not even using the exact same materials as the first ones.

Have you done with your motion boom plus?
well the boom plus has a place but not for a musical listen indoors. im waiting for the 6khz fix although its not bad but the blast is better but of course much heavier.
