A recipe book! I couldn't keep track of the spices in that great looking meal...you make such high end, flavorful homecooked meals...and so does Brooke...I hope yinz are keeping track like Brian does with the boat expenses...btw, Brian has a great spirit, really cool guy, Hey Brian 👋. You and Brooke are really good at fish identification in your vids. Which is lacking in several Florida youtubers vids. I haven't seen yinz post any poisonous fish... I caught 2 my last trip in the keys a month ago ( not counting the lionfish) one was a spanish something or other and the other a blue marra? I believe..it had a thorn/stinger near its tail with a neon blue oval around it. So a fish identification video would be really useful. And I've come across alot of fishermen that can't identify the species they're catching. Can you bring back tackle box talks? Twice a year would be cool. Tight lines 😎
All kinds of species challenge..something different that people usually don't go for..would be sweet happy new year to you as well my friend..happy fishing ;~}`
Sweetest? They pissed of the captain do much he grabbed a spear gun and shot it also we lost 50$ in hooks trying get them away my dad had a orange snapper or red snapper hooked and the barracuda bit it in half then ate the head after my dad put the line back in.
@@ahmednuman5258 no they’re not ive been eating them since I was a kid. Only the deep sea ones may be poisonous. If it doesn’t fight back it’s poisonous but if it’s fighting it’s good
Once again you guys killed it I'm from Boston originally never ate Barracuda there and when we move to California they used to tell us don't eat that fish you'll get sick being from Boston in Italian I had to prove it to myself and been eating it ever since I find Barracuda delicious but the way you cooked it in that curry sauce made me drool ... love you guys God bless and a very special happy New Year
depends on the area you catch them in becase sometimes they can be in areas with high levels of red tide which they absorb the toxins from dinoflagellate algae which will make you sick and the more neurological symptoms can persist for years after you get the acute food poisoning like symptoms.
This is the first time watching your channel and I love it. I am from the Caribbean,Jamaica to be precise and most of us love curry. I usually season whatever I am going to curry with natural seasoning particularly escallion or scallion, thyme, pimento, garlic and of course the curry powder. We would then burn the curry a little in the oil and add a piece of garlic, thyme and pimento. Place the (previously seasoned) fish in the pot and in a short time our version of curried fish is ready. Oh by the way the fish you prepared looks delicious.
Thank you Viktor for making this video and all the others. I no longer fish because I get sea sick, but I remembered the same comments that you heard about barracuda(and bonita). A friend of mine taught me to fish and he would book us on local fishing boats. We are So Cal anglers. He and the other guys would tell me to throw the barracuda back into the ocean because they were not good for eating. I ignored them and took them home to try for myself. I thought they tasted fine. The strange thing is that they would tell me the same thing about mackerel. If mackerel is a junk fish, then why do I pay a lot of money in a sushi restaurant for it? I am glad that you are out there busting these myths about junk fish. Keep up the great work!
Respect the lack of waste! subscribed. The first time I ate barracuda was a decade ago in Panama and I had no idea. I was pissed, thought it was going to kill me. I just had it again in Cuba on purpose and it was pretty good. I may keep one on a slow day. There aren’t nearly as many as there used to be so keep that in mind.
I’ve heard for years that barracuda was a great tasting fish. Growing up in Hawaii, people always kept the barracuda they caught! Really enjoyed the content, and look forward to your next video!
We never fry fish without the spices coating it and glad that you introducing it to a wider audience. We love barracuda in South Africa 🇿🇦 but because of its dryness prefer to cook it in the curry
I love your channel lol I always learn something new every time I watch your vids. I live in Anclote and have always loved fishing. Keep up the good work
Heck yeah!!!!! Barracuda looks and (smells)? Definitely delicious. The blend of all types of seasonings really sets out the flavors. The sauce is simply explicit. Thanks for the good video brooke @ vic
that's the correct way to cook barracuda. here in sri lanka barracuda is a delicacy and the way you make the curry is quite similar to the way we making it.
@@Halusafishingprofessional that would be awesome specially for me that i'm taking RUclips more seriously now, i have much respect for Victor i really enjoy hes videos, I know Heiko for a while now even before i knew he had a youtube channel we used to talk a lot on fb, he is a freaking awesome guy, but i'm to little now maybe eventually when my channel grow more(if it grow) i would have something to return right now i'm a baby channel lol,,, Thanks bro !!!!!!
They’re known to taste super good, the reason they have a bad rep is the ciguatera found in the larger ones. Because they hang around wrecks and eat small disease carrying reef fish and contract it themselves. My dad has gotten ciguatera multiple times and now tells me to never eat a barracuda because it’s just not worth the risk.
Like your channel..great to see you like The Arlington Brothers..DMFD and BlueGabe... Thanks for the Tip on corrianda/Solantro.. Looking forward to all your Videos..cheers
I am from and currently living in India and my favorite fish to catch are Barracudas. Here we target them at dusk with poppers from the beach. That's a fine curry you made. We don't use as much coconut where I'm from, but I've had that style curry in Kerala which is known for its for sea food. I suggest that you skip that corn starch the next time when you pan fry barracuda steaks (in low heat).
In addition to above, reduce the amount of spices u used for the amount of curry you made. Like red pepper powder it was alot i can ruin dinner. And reduce all other spices to quarter of a spoon, coconut is optional. Also garlic and ginger it shoul be 2 table spoon for this pan max. Overall nice video as always and my mouth was watering watching u ppl eat. God Bless.
To everyone talking about ciguatera. Idk how true, but I’ve heard it’s ok to eat them if they fight strong, have straight teeth, and as few as possible of those black dots.
Great video! Barracuda is underrated because of the ciguatera poisoning but the younger ones are amazing to eat! We eat them fro,m the mangroves in the Caribbean all the time! Would be nice if you can do a yellowtail or lane snappper pan fried meal.
Great video and I imagine someone mentioned it already but I pretty sure cilantro is the leaf part of the herb and coriander is the seed both from the same plant though.
That's how we Indians make curry..A little tip..peel the skin of the tomatoes and add to the onions and sprinkle salt over it.. That softens the tomatoes and onions quickly.. Happy New year 👌
Love your videos bud. Best ccc vids out there I am thinking of starting a vlog and cooking channel. I like you come up with a lot of stuff off the top of my head
Thanks for the rigging tutorial. I'm a new follower from Kansas, this is all new to me. Would like to know why you chose the spot you did, water depth, rock sand.... And what type of rod and reel you are using as well as the weight of line on the reel. Thank You Victor.
I hear all these bad things about the barracuda having Ciguatera poison in them but from the way it looks and how the Bahamians love it In starting to believe the risk is lower than people make it sound! Great video, made me really hungry 😁😁
Viktor, you do have to watch it with the Barracuda due to extremely high mercury levels and something called Cigutera. From internet: "Ciguatera fish poisoning (CFP), also known simply as ciguatera, is a foodborne illness caused ... The fish most often implicated include barracuda, grouper, moray eel, amberjack, sea bass, and sturgeon." So eat it in moderation from time to time but not frequently so you stay well.

Hey Brook I'd love to see a catch and cook using the Instant Pot on your (or hubby) channel if you could please!
Have y'all ever got poison from Barracuda?
This Girl loves Landshark more than us tbh.
ugh I love and adore Brooke's mom at how soft-spoken and calm she is, she is humbling to me. I know I always say this about her but I mean it haha
Her moms voice is so soft you can tell she’s a nice person
No trash fish just trash cooks👏👏👏👏😂😂👏👏
Agreed
Proceeds to put chilli powder and curry on the fish
I don't use curry or chili on my fish
Ok, I challenge anyone to make a bowfin taste appealing. Fun to catch, though.
Your parents raised you well my friend.
Keep it up! Stay safe out there.
Brook's smile always makes the video. Always happy and joyful. I love it. Good vibes only

A crushed clove and a small stick of cinamon helps a curry along if you want a nice contrast to the fish.
