It’s refreshing to hear you speak. My husband is having a terrible time resulting from an eye surgery. He’s very tense and short right now. So I decided to take back control of the house, just to keep busy. The more I did, the more I want to do. You’re saying that it helps you find peace was putting into words, exactly what I need. I adore your decorating, but today you helped me in a different way. Gods Blessings to you and your family.
Hi Anne I loved your home tour. My husband said it is one of the Best home tours he has heard . We loved the way you explained everything. It was so peaceful and calming. I Love the way you decorate. Thank you for letting us come in your home . So until next time God Bless you and have a Blessed Weekend.
Anne you have worked your magic again! I LOVE that you added your sister's knitting. What a beautiful reminder of how she invested in others. Thanks for all the teaching that you do in your videos. I have learnt so much. Your home is unique and beautiful and you show us how to embrace that for ourselves.
Thank you Helen - that's my goal - to inspire all of you to do your own thing, and decorate using your own voice! I'm so glad that it comes across!! I love that comment about the knitting being a beautiful reminder of how she invested in others! She REALLY did - she gave and gave and gave. She gave more in her short 53 years than most people do in a lifetime! Thanks for that insight!
I am rewatching this one, which I do often to your videos. 😊 I love how you said you needed to gain some control over your environment in order to feel more at peace. I have so often felt this way...and it is great therapy! 😄
So true Debra!! I'm still gaining control of my environment!! I just finished mopping out the tavern - even though there is no ceiling there, I'm putting the furniture back in! Even though there are dead doorbell and telephone wires hanging down and I'm getting caught in them, I'm bound and determined to get some order back! Glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful! That is a good tip of not decorating the room like a museum. The vintage that you love but also the new! You just have the knack for making it all work! Thanks Anne!
Thanks Sheila! I actually walk through my rooms and when something isn't working for me I realize that the old and new is off balance. Doesn't really mean its a 50/50 split - more that if something is off kilter it feels too contrived! Thanks for that highlight!
Thank you Debra! My sweet little piano. I used to have a nice wood one but we moved so much and it was so inconvenient to move and tune so I ended up buying an electric one.
Thanks Ma. You weren't the first to comment though, someone else beat you to it!! Hopefully by the end of the evening we'll have that ceiling ripped down so that I can at least return the furniture to the room and get the other rooms back in order.
I have to say this is , cozy , peaceful, restful and my heart says lay on the couch in front of the fire and take a nap.. I loved this video.. from Dawn W. :)
Hi there Anne!!! I love the warmth and coziness of your living room. Also, love that you have your sisters knitting displayed. Hope things come together quickly for you, with the tavern. Enjoy your evening! 😘
I love the coziness of your room. Because I am such a sentimental gal, my favorite decor item is the dough bowl with your Sister’s knitting...such a sweet touch!❤️
Hi Anne! You are becoming my decorating guru. "Taking control of your environment" wise words. I need to move away from the chochki clutter and focus on the statement pieces. Thank you for the inspiration. Holly xo from snowy Chicago
Hi Holly - Never, ever did I think I'd hear "decorating guru" in the same sentence - LOL You're too cute! I'm trying to be more deliberate about what I purchase now. I spring for the expensive items that last and try to shy away from the cheaper ones (which is what I tell myself at least). I probably end up with everything! Anyway, stay warm in the windy winter city!!
@@laurah6381 Hi Laura! I know Morris, we were just there for the 3 french hens market, and the husband dragged me to Big R lol..we are in the south suburbs, Orland Park!
Holly K haha Big R is now Stock and Field! Next time you go to the French market be sure to visit Letty Mae’s tea room! I go to Orland mall sometimes for Williams Sonoma and Pottery Barn at Christmas time! I grew up in Darien and my hubby is from Downers Grove.
Hello SARK Anne! I love your perspective on decorating; it is similar to mine. I play the violin! The silver IKEA lamp in my practice space looks UGLY sitting there! I need to find a way to display it or hide it to take away the ugliness. The wall in my practice space is pretty; it displays my Valentine decor. My main colours used are black, red, and white. I strive to live a minimalist life every day. I love how each piece should be able to stand alone. If my items cannot stand alone, I will get rid of them -- maybe!! Happy Winter Valentine! I love your primitive home. You would LOVE reading SARK's books. A good one is Inspiration Sandwich.
I love how much of a SARK fan you are! Can you spray paint your silver lamp black? Would that help it? My brother and sister played the violin - beautiful instrument! I strive for minimalism too -but it's hard when I keep going to all these great stores. :)
Hi Anne and Tom. Don't worry you'll get thee tavern together. I love simplicty and coziness. You have a lovely room.. No my favour seasons are autumn and winter. Your doors are beautiful and thee floors. Have a good evening.
Another beautiful video! The color tones are so calming and perfect for this time of year. I have always called this a sepia time of year, and your color choices definitely reflect that. The black sofa pillows ground the space beautifully. My favorite piece is your sister's knitting, so appropriately displayed in a heart shaped bowl. This room is the perfect spot to sit in front of the fire, and read a good book. You make me wish I was there! 💗
Just happened upon your channel , so happy I did! Loved this video, your home is so cozy and the way you decorate and display your items is 👏 ! I found myself pausing video so I could just look at everything in detail. I clicked subscribe after the first minute😊. Can’t wait to watch all your other videos. Anne Clay Home Decor Tips Hi Anne, I enjoy every season and decorate at the exact dates, right now I’m enjoying winter ❄️ and will decorate for spring till March 21st. I love your heart wood nest and your Frida Khalo book 👍🏽
That's a good way to do it Mari! I decorate when the mood strikes, which seems to be getting more frequent. That heart dough bowl is my favorite, newest aquisition and well Frida Khalo - don't get me started! I'm a total fan!! LOVE her work. LOVE the way she used her painting as self-expression and art therapy.
I've done the same thing in my home. I'm certainly not a minimalist 😁 but I have tucked away alot of my treasures and I like it. Love your video's and look forward to seeing them and you💕
Thanks Rosamond! Isn't it freeing to have less clutter around? I hope to stay pretty minimal through the summer with the exception of the easter bunnies and eggs which will have to make an appearance!
So true Diane - less is more but it's so easy to let it get away from itself like a runaway train. I think it starts in the Fall when all the pumpkins come in and then it escalates with Christmas and then it's hard to go back down after Christmas because we miss the lights and need the blankets.
HAHAHA that's great! I ALMOST put bunnies out the other day - I looked at them and even stroked their little smooth resin selves and then put them back in the cupboard for another day!

I really like it. And although you've removed stuff, it still looks lived in. It's hard for me to minimize because I LOVE my stuff. But I've gotten rid of lots of smaller pictures & am using really large ones now.
Hi Jean! Yes, that's the trick right? Larger items verses small items. Yes, there are so many cool things around it's so easy to fill the house with them! The room there is kind of small so the more I put in it, the more cluttered it becomes and I felt like if I was going to be so bold as to cut the room in half with two large pieces of furniture, I'd have to remove almost everything.
Thanks Susanne! Funny how I just looked at the long bowl and thought "what could I throw in there" and there they were! The tavern mess has been a long time in coming. The plumbing upstairs has been clogged since we moved in and we've experienced at least 3 major leaks so we had to get in there and deal with that. We were just waiting for the holidays to get done so that we'd have a good month or so without any people around to repair it.
