Thank you! 🤗 We'll have to see! Shirtless Tom asked me that today - he said "what do you want to do now - create a wood cooking stove out of barrels?" LOL not really but kind of...
As I get deeper into this primitive design - I realize there are many primitive markers that I'm lacking - a BUTTERY was one of them! I'm SOOO happy with the way it turned out! Hope you enjoy it!
I miss my 1799 house so much when I watch you. Although, I a m trying to reproduce the same in my Fl home which is really cute. You can take the girl out of New England but you can't take New England out of the girl.
That would be hard to let an older homestead in New England go! Although when we talk about retirement it’s usually someplace warm like Florida too... too bad we can’t have the best of both worlds!
Are ya kidding? I was thinking, " Look at Anne, she in her zone, just moving this and adding that...spinning her special magic ! I want a buttery now ha!
I enjoyed watching the process as you put the buttery together and like that you explained your reasoning as you worked it out. How fun it must be to have so many cool things on hand that you’ve acquired so that you can change things up on a whim. Thanks for sharing and inspiring!
A old rolling pin and a big jar with metal lid count keep metal cookie cutters inside jar. A bundle of beeswax or hand dipped candles, hung by twine from a bark covered branch above top shelves.

Loved country and primitive even before I knew what "style" that was called lol! If it had a "story" or history to it...I loved it! I love your home and also Cousin Mel's! Best vlogs ever!
Hi Anne... Enjoyed your Buttery video,. It was fun to watch you assemble it, the end result was awesome. Glad to see your feeling better. 👍. Wanted to wish you and Tom a HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉🎉. GOD BLESS 🙏
Anne... It's been awhile... I'm sorry to hear you have had some health issues... Glad to see your doing so much better... I'm also glad to be back watching your beautiful channel again after my health issues had me down for awhile... I'm wondering if you have ever watched a channel called, Townsends? It's about 18th century lifestyle... I believe you would enjoy it alot...
Hi Vicci - yes long time no see. I'm sorry to hear about your health issues too! Man - I REALLY hate health issue! I haven't watched Townsends - I'll check it out thanks! Hope you're feeling better!
Oh Anne i LOVE ,Love, Love this look . I do this with a lot of my shelfs . I have a lot of Antiques. I really enjoyed watching you put your pieces together on your shelfs. You are and excellent decorators.Thank you for taking us along for this Amazing decorating of your shelfs. So until next time God Bless you and your family and have a Blessed Evening and Stay Safe my dear Friend. You are looking good and I pray you feel good. May you and your family have a Healthy and Happy New Year.
Love, love, LOVE this!!! I’m a big fan of “shopping my house”, too! I think the white background makes everything “pop”, but you could always tack up some burlap in the back of the shelves to get that darker look...♥️
So true! I thought of old boards too but burlap would be easier. At this point I'm liking the white too - glad I didn't paint it! I would have had to wait for the paint to dry and when I get something in my mind I like to do it right away!
Love your buttery, you did a great job!! I am changing things here in my apartment since I put away all my Christmas things. Have done kitchen, dining area, living area, and bedroom. The only room left is my 2nd bedroom which is actually my sewing and plant room.
I'm so impressed! It takes me one day per room to get stuff put away, cleaned and then redecorate it. I'm 3 rooms down and 1 more to go - I'm glad that this year I only did those 4 rooms.
I’m probably the only subscriber you have that lives in Florida and in Miami that has a passion and love for primitive /country Decor. For some reason I get embarrassed to tell anyone because they’ll probably look at me like what the?!? You live in Miami... but I have never liked modern.Maybe I were born in another time. 😏
I found the "Buttery" so inspiring! I was able to order a couple of pieces from Etsy. Thank you for the education. Love medieval, monastic and hospitality!
Anne, I think you got it done! Looks great, I try my best to make my home look like its old. You did a great job. Looks like you are feeling better. Thank goodness for that. Happy New Year!!!!
Your buttery looks great, I had one at our old house, we downsized so I put some of my things from my buttery in our Grandkids playhouse to make it look like a little old cabin, even made a fake hanging ham, dried garlic and onions look good hanging also.
Loved this video. Your buttery is precious, Anne. My husband made me a really nice hutch and I had all my Spode dishes on it. But after Christmastime, I'm going to try to do something similar to your buttery. You were trying to get that strainer in and I thought you could hang it on the side. But then I saw you had those birdhouses there and they look adorable. So so cute. And it didn't take you long at all. Do you find yourself staring at what you did while you are sitting nearby and then getting up and moving things around, sometimes weeks later? I do it all the time. My husband laughs at me - the day after Christmas I changed some of my decorations up. LOL.
I do that ALL the time Lisa! Yep - I putz and change things around. I changed my Christmas decoration on Christmas Eve - they needed freshening up. I had him move the mirror back to the bedroom and put up a picture and he just looks at me like I'm crazy.
Utilitarian AND pretty. The dried plants and gourd shapes make the space seem alive somehow. Nice inspiration. Thank you for some history. I have always liked those spaces on Pinterest. Do you have any apothecary ideas in the house? D
I love it! It looks so good. I would love one and a tavern like you have. So cool. I wonder what my hubby would say if I tell him I want to turn our pantry into a buttery. I would much rather have primitive goods in there, much prettier. You are so much fun and have such a cool way of doing things. I can’t wait for a quiet moment to watch your videos.
Ooh my goodness! Anne you totally Captured the buttery look your so creative! And we got alittle history lesson I know I will think of this when I look in my pantry aka buttery
I love your buttery I love how you decorated all of the shelves I get so many great ideas from you I have a step back cupboard in my kitchen it has been the same for a couple of years except when I add new finds but I think I might have to freshen it up by moving things around thank you for the inspiration another great video God bless
Hey Anne, wanted to revisit and cteate a buttery for me too going throufh my stuff. And from your recent Q & A I wanted to see your prairie dress. Lovely!
@@AnneClay Your ideas are inspiring me! You should write that book! Or be a guest wrter to Primitive Place magazine! Hey, why not go for it?! There are other magazines too, like Rustic Country, Country Sampler, etc. I bet you could be a guest writer!
That is a perfect place for a buttery. Since you dont want to paint shelves, you could buy either cheese cloth or burlap at fabric store like Joanne Fabrics and line shelves and even do a tied back calico curtain for a bit of color...use a tablecloth and tie onto cup hooks sprayed black color, using burlap or cheesecloth torn strips as the tieback.

Wow, love this look. I never knew the history of the Buttery, going back to Medieval times, what an interesting bit of history.
