If your VW has power windows and keyless entry and your park lights are staying on after locking, then read more to save big bucks. With the CCM removed, examine it to see how the cover comes off. You will see a printed circuit board and the thumb sized black boxes are relays. One, mark with V23086-C1002-A402, this on is turned on to flash the lights when locking or unlocking. The contacts are worn and stick. It can be de-soldered and removed from the printed circuit board or also called "PCB". There are videos that show this procedure if you are not comfortable using a solder-suction-bulb, sold at all electronic stores, or woven copper de-soldering wire sold as well and works great. A small soldering iron of 100 watts and small tip. Once the solder is liquid, it can be removed with compressed air and blow gun (Messy but effective), suction bulb, or my favorite the copper mesh de-soldering wire sold on small spools. A company in AZ called "OnlineComponents.com" sells the relay for $3.15 + S&H / tax, but use search feature on page to type in P/N "1-1393280-1" which is new relay number and the old "V" number is shown in the relays info. Solder it onto the board, gently with very little solder as the tabs are pre-tinned which wicks the solder in quickly. Do not get solder on two tabs to make an un-wanted connection. If so, remove it with soldering iron. Re-install the CCM or "Central Control Module" and will work without have to program or re-learn keyless remotes or FOB's. VW dealer will sell the CCM for $400 after they order it. Price maybe different where you live or dealer profit margin. Almost forgot, screw-driver tips required are TORX T20 & T25 for panels, but T30 for CCM module bracket screws. Kit sold at Harbor Freight and most home improvement stores. If you buy the bits only, use a 1/4" 6 point socket, 6" extension and ratchet to fit. ASE Master Tech since 1978 / Retired

Dean Kay this method does not need programming but what if I switch the whole thing? I’m dealing with the same bs of the lights staying on tot he point where I have to disconnect the battery and it won’t go off no matter how many tries.

Stellar post! Someone else commented on this video and said that you will have to re-program the ccm as soon as you have disconnected it. That got me worried. Do you know this not to be the case? UPDATE: It's perfectly safe to remove it. There's no re-programming necessary on re install.

@@Thestripper1 I do not have the diagnostic flow chart used during repairs, but if the controller or actuator is replaced, just make darn sure the actuator is installed so it will not over travel past its normal limits. What happens to most after repair, are fuse(s) are installed and battery is hooked up. At this point, do not touch anything or change any settings. The controller needs to know where the doors for hot/cold, defrost/floor, Bi-level or max is set. Not all actuators have feedback voltage, but many do. The DC motor creates a high/low current thru the little motors, and this is counted by the controller. So, at wide open the count could be 197. It stops, then heads the other direction to close and say it reaches 12. It stops and memories that reading. It's been a busy time and its winter so hope you have it figured out now. Call a shop that specializes in that brand and simply tell them what you are doing. Many may hand up but not all are mean and mad you don't have a bucket of cash to spend on them. I have seen techs take short cuts or over price certain jobs and at dealerships, they used service advisors to make the call with prices. Sometimes a customer passes on most if not all service. I pick up the phone, tell them I am the one doing the repair, and this is what I am seeing. I offer them to stop in but give authorization over the phone. Best of luck!

Holy crap....you just showed me how to replace a CCM that I assumed was the climate control below the radio. I was completely wrong. Thank you for the post. Really helped me out in trying to figure out the issue I have with my B5 wagon....THANK YOU THANK YOU

Thanks for the video. I have a Transporter T4 but this still helped. In my case the CCM box is located behind the instrument dash. Only need to remove the instrument dash and then the box is right there mounted with two screws. Going to de solder and put in a new relay to fix the indicator/locking issue. Thank sagain!
UPDATE: The de-soldering of the realy was a bit tricky. A solder suction plunge did not work and solder wick didn't do a good job at all, not even when using flux. The trick for me was to cut the legs of the relay as short as possible then get some good 60/40 solder on the tip of the iron and then go back and forth over all the three contacts on one side of the relay while gently prying on it from the other side. Once you get the solder on all three legs to melt at the same time you will be able to pull them out a bit. Then do the same on the other side that only has two legs. Then go back and forth until the thing comes of. After that it's easy to clean the holes with the solder plunger and install the new relay.

Thank you for the good video! My 2001 Golf's trunk door and rear windows don't work anymore because the comfort control module has issue, probably due to the VW's leaky sunroof issue back in 2006 . I wanted to replace it myself, but I can't locate it. Many videos for Passat, but not for Golf. Thanks again

Awesome, thanks for the video. Do you have any idea where the CCM is located in a 2012 VW CC? All my dash indicator lights are come on after I noticed a leak in passenger front footwell under glove compartment, sort of where the AC blower motor is. The Bluetooth module is under the passenger front seat, but I can't find the CCM. I'm hoping that's what's causing my airbag, check engine, parking, traction and ABS lights all to light up like Christmas. Something seems to be shorted out from that leak. Thanks again for the video.

My problems are left front indicator constant power right rear no power .rest indicators flash ones in mirrors as well .car indicates rear left ok as nd front right .some one changed lights and other things to make it look like type R .steering changed . But the wiring is in tatters on head light side wires hanging off bare ends some taped up . Oh well thanks for video mate .👍

I have some weird electrical issues with my 2004 Golf Mk4 2.0 GLS where so now and than the car won't start. Door lights as well as the blinkers flicker when key in contact but off, also hear some relay rattling under the dash. When I try to start the dashboard dims. A little later without any intervention it will start again. Also when this issue arises the clock is reset to 12:00 and the trip to 0.
    Could this be the CCM?

@@freeze101man That was a long time ago, if I recall, that was a common problem with the door latch. It has internal wiring that is connected to the alarm system and apparently after repeated slamming of the door, the solder holding the connection can break. I recall taking the door panels off and looking at the wiring and touching the touching / checking the wiring. Never happened again. In the meantime, I'd try removing the fuse that powers the alarm/sound/hazards. It will keep things quiet until you can figure out the exact issue. Good luck.
