@@Farewelltokingz Yes! Funny thing is, I came up with that myself, not knowing others did it. Because, well, my fingers are not very fast. I also went lower down the neck (same pitch) for the second half of that riff, which gave it a juicier sound.
Jason played with a pick, Dave Ellefson too. Actually I counted the songs in rocksmith and more songs in my catalog are played with pick than finger. Even Geezer Butler who is famous for finger pinking used pick on heavier and faster songs like Children of The Grave or Heaven and Hell.
hi Andryi, i have intrusive thoughts about Orion, the more i think about it , the more it sounds like its in a minor instead of e (im talking about this solo and riff afterwards) - if we look at chords as it would've be in e, we will get iv-i-vi, followed by vi-i-iv, with root as pedal note, while in a it would be i-v-iii followed by iii-v--i, with fifth as pedal note, which imo makes more sense, especially that i-v resolution in end of the phrase -also, speaking of pedal note, in e this e-e-f f-f-e phrase would introduce minor second, (while in a both notes would be from natural minor) and tbh i dont quite hear that dark phrygian vibe that minor second introduces, it rather sound space-ish and mysterious to me -and if we look at rhytm, that e chord always falls on offbeat, which further weakens its influence, while a and c are always on beat or maybe thats something like 12 tone described in his wideo about Iron Man, which according to him its in e, but with b as kinda "shadow key" (i dont remember exactly , but something along this lines) what do you think?
I saw that bass at the store today and I fell in love with it and haven't been able to think about anything else today. Now I also see you have it... Shit, that just means I have to get it, doesn't it?
I do not think Rob has played it like that yet and I hope he doesn't. I believe he wanted to play with pick so he could do tremolo on 72 Seasons intro and then that spread to some other songs. Hopefully not Orion
This pick vs finger debate is so old and dead. the only ones keeping it alive are bassists who only use their fingers. Playing the bass is playing the bass. From Sting to Paul McCartney, to David Elefson and Rex Brown of Pantera, it's just a non debate anymore lol. I've been playing bass 30+ years and have yet to come across anything I couldn't play. Except when you get to Dream Theater level, but that's just hard. Has nothing to do with fingers or a pick.
I play it using one finger as a "pick" it sounds great.
Like flicking geddy technique?

It more about this particular riff, not the technique in general
geezer didnt use pick for children as far as im concerned, although he did it in iron man outro
@@beinmetal I can play it with a pick, no problems. So does James and Kirk.
@@Roberto-nn6kb He did at the California Jam, watch the video.
Geezer also used pick on the end of iron man.

(i couldnt resist)
That’s a fucking sexy bass
I play bass both with fingers and a pick. Depends on what I’m playing. Maiden and stuff like that, I use fingers. But mostly I use a pick

The Cliff Way and the Jason Way !!! 🤟🤟🤟
Jameses way should be considered too.
Orion is meant for fingers and Blackened is meant for picks
Now double thumb it that fast 😈😈😈🐺🐺🐺💯

Tapping with a pick on bass 💀
