Adam Nolly' Getgood's bass playthrough of Icarus Lives! from the 2010 album, Periphery. Filmed at Guitar Summit 2023. #thehypeisreal #fannedfrets #unparalleledtone
the band's been playing a couple of p1 tracks at live shows too recently. They must have gotten the incling to start playing p1 again cause i know they said they were fucking tired of p1 for a long time
Basically, this a cover on the most adequate instrument, with most adequate tone, by the most qualified person to do so, with pristine video production. So many thing to admire at once and separately.
@@mjstories7181 "most adequate" like in "I find it hard to imagine anything better due to its perfection as it covers all bases in the most perfect way of all ways possible". I do believe we have a slight misunderstanding, which is fine and I don't mind.
Nolly mixing an old Periphery with PV's bass EQ? HELL YESS!!!! I definitely think they need to issue a remaster of the first album with the new EQ. It'll sound even more monstrous.
@@eliminatrix He did a few streams re-recording a couple of songs on guitar. Spencer re-recorded a couple for a vocal course he did, other than that there's really been nothing about it. I don't think he ever worked on or plans to complete a remaster of the first album.
This is the first song I ever heard from periphery and I instantly knew nothing would be the same again. I immediately identified with the sound as being the sound I was looking for my whole life.
Can't get enough of this tone. I literally drop it on any project and it will fit perfectly in a mix. Rock/metal. even some indie rock lmao. Really nice and balance tone.
I was there, damn it was hell of an experience!!!! I'm so glad to see him play, answer my questions and present his tones and ideas. Sheldon was very kind as well, his moderation was also really fun! Thanks for sharing this guys!
Ever since Nolly put out the Prayer Position video, there's been so many people doing the Dingwall + Darkglass combo, but listening to this clip make me realize that Nolly is still my favorite take on that tone.
I love my Dingwall, thank you Nolly and Dingwall for making the NG-3! It's so sparkly and green and chock full of goodness and tone. Best 6 string I've ever had :)
Delonge rejoined Blink 182. Frusciante rejoined RHCP. Portnoy rejoined Dream Theater. Nolly needs to rejoin Periphery or start a new band with Misha. Misha and Nolly were the two most important components of Periphery.
I got to play this exact bass at a clinic. When I asked to get a closer look at he just handed it to me and I literally didn't know what to do with my hands.
Now this is some old-school djent
Djent is not a genre. Wait, is that to be expected?
@@spanneng It's not a genre, it's a way of life
Djent is way too new to be called -oldschool-.
@@eddie4837 Sorry about that. After reviewing the footage carefully, this is clearly vintage djent
@@Paajanenae counting in dog years, definetly 😁😁😁😁
Nolly’s so cool he should join Periphery
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😆
He should on the road, pleeeeeeease 🙏🏻
@@Lodgiefitness cant hear bass live anyways
@@robertdarling8724 Then you have an issue with your hearing
His tone is so pristine I can identify a freaking low G# on my phone speakers. Thats insane
And all you do is hear it. There's no bass to be felt at all - just clang.
@@Jackal_Blitzwell duh, phone speakers don't have much low end by design. You're talking as if that's a disadvantage or something.
@@Jackal_Blitz maybe over a phone, but through legit speakers or amp or in headphones, it's bottom heavy as fuck in a good way
@@Jackal_Blitzuhhh... Through my earphones (which aren't even particularly bass heavy) there's tons of low end!
@@Jackal_Blitz plenty of bass to be felt on real speakers. Sounds great on my monitors!
Nolly making a bass playthrough for an old Periphery's song?!
What year is this?!?!?!?!
Man, those years were the best

I miss the days of him ripping Protest the Hero covers with his Blackmachine and Diezel.
I’ve wanted to hear him play over this song for years!
Glad you like it!
There is a video of him and matt playing it in a clinic from years ago, but it's not quite as good sound quality
@@craigsi16 I think I did see that! I just want more Nolly solo bass stuff in general. Fantastic to watch!
And then Adam Nolly Getgood said, “you’ve dinged your last wall” and everyone clapped. Then he Got Good and walked away, leaving everyone speechless

she ding on my wall I'll I

@@mjstories7181 yeah exactly, but I think Misha and Spencer had plans to as Misha said at the start of that stream
They need to do that, and re-relase the version without Spencer on vocals because he fucking ruins their first album
@@lolh4x His harsh vocals have gotten really good now, and the mix was what ruined P1, not Spencer IMO.
that dang de de dg daaang daaang though
15 years after still love the groove
Man this is sick!!! What a nostalgia trip!
This is the guy that sold me an NG-2 and a Microtubes amp.
I mean it's his signature bass so...
He is sold me Darkglass ADAM and I love it😅
sold me on Parallax, his Archetype plugin and 2 GGD libraries.
I honestly fear this man.
Sold me some bad weed, I’m still trying to get a refund 😂
This dude is the reason I became British
I don't think a better tone for rock and metal bass guitar exists. The clarity is what makes it. Unreal.
finally we can have this godlike playthrough
Love a throwback
Man is that some juicy tone
this is so cool! legend as always
Some of my absolute favorite basses. They just FEEL amazing and sound amazing!
This is the first song I ever heard from periphery and I instantly knew nothing would be the same again. I immediately identified with the sound as being the sound I was looking for my whole life.

Even tho everyone and their mum copies that tone, his somehow still sounds the best by quite a margin.
I never thought I was ever gonna see Nolly play this song, gah damn it's so good
I absolutely adore everything about this
Such a sick pfp bro
I still listen and play along to this song regularly 🔥🔥
nice
Nolly ❤
Very well done. Probably my favorite song from them and I picked up a lot of little nuances from watching this.
What a trip. This was great!
Lol the dudes shopping in the background while Nolly is right next to them tearing it up.
Takes me back to listening to Bulb!
Thank Nolly for this blessing 🙏🏻
Tone and rhythm. My favourite bass playing guitarist.
Nolly is the mad scientist of metal tones
The best bass tone of the world!
Jon Stockman, but this is pretty awesome too

Some of the coolest looking basses I've ever seen!
Dingwall + Darkglass replacing J-Bass + Sansamp for reference metal bass sound is a big win for bassists because now they can actually be heard.
Whoa, amazing tone ❤❤❤❤
Fuuuuucking hell, this is insane. Absolutely love it.
did no expect this, hell yes!
The Nostalgia, had this song on replay while attending art school.
Yeah 🤘
Great throw back
That bass tone is incredible. So Is Nolly too. I'm remember him from the Red seas Fire days.
What a treat :)
The song that makes me fall in love with Dingwall 😍😍I hope to get one soon!
Nolly bass playthroughs hit diff
Best bass tone in the history of the universe. Change my mind!!!

Honestly one of the best bass tones in the business
Periphery should hire this dude to join the band

Wonder how much longer before we see the P1 remaster
Long.
Misha said it's either re-recording P1 or doing new albums. And he would rather commit to new stuff.
