  • The Spanish national team is perhaps going under the radar slightly for the Euros this year with the likes of England, France and Germany taking the headlines. However La Roja can never be counted out as they are a perennial powerhouse, boasting a legacy of triumphs and a style of play that captivates fans worldwide. Spain is the land of tiki-taka, silky midfield play, and a golden generation that dominated world football. But the golden generation era has ended, and the Spanish team now faces a stark reality: are they still that team? The talent is still there with plenty of younger talents and world class players and they even have a secret weapon this year. Can they go on to win the European Championship in 2024?

Really good seasson for a 16 years of age in a professional debut.
He made the adult players seem like kids honestly. Was a joy to watch in las palmas. So inteligent tactically with the ball.
Las palmas is a team that used to made great players from canary islands (spain) is the big team in that region of spain.
They made players like Valerón (one of the best talents of spain in history, he was the Idol of David Silva's childhood)
Now they have an economy problem since the 90's, and every time they produced a good player in their academy, the other spanish teams signed them for their youth teams...
Like for example Yeremi Pino (really underrated player of the new gen of spain), who was from las palmas academy but the villareal team signed him with 16 years of age for their academy and he dwbuted with villareal.

huge fan of grimaldo here and i'm not mad at all. while grimaldo seemed like the obvious choice as a starter, i can see why de la fuente went for cucurella instead.
de la fuente’s approach was less focused on individual accolades and more on team dynamics. he prioritized how well players fit into his tactical system over personal statistics. his emphasis was on how well players integrated into the overall team structure and executed his game plan.
cucurella's stronger defensively, excelling at disrupting opposition plays and strengthening spain's defensive solidity, which i believe was their major weakness. he can also play multiple positions including left back, wing back, etc. making him a flexible option. he's been a remarkable surprise and a valuable addition to the squad.

Every la masia attacker for the last 10 years gets called the "next messi", but they all end up in a mid table team in Spain or England sadly, due to the inmense pressure they put on them

By every you mean Ansu Fati and Lamine Yamal. That's pretty much it.

    • @iminspain258
      @iminspain258 3 месяца назад +1

@Nifava Because those are the ones from recent years and are thus easier to remember, but Ansu Fati has already lost that reputation with his move to a mid table team in England, Brighton, where he was a bench warmer, and is now coming back to Barcelona to probably be on the bench too.
Many already forgot about Balde, the "next [insert la masia legend in that position]", and many such cases in the last decade. You can just look it up in Spanish newspapers like Mundo Deportivo with great biases towards Barcelona due to it being a catalan based newspaper.
And the same will happen to Lamine sadly, he's a great player, but Barcelona manages their youngsters horribly, and they get burnt out before even getting a chance at having a career.

We're playing good football, we're playing the football we've always liked but we don't have the individual players to be decisive.
Most of us know (except for the youngest and most inexperienced Spaniards) that there are teams with stronger individualities than ours and that it would be very logical for us not to win this tournament.

To that players, you need to add:
      -Stefan Bajcetic from liverpool.
-Yeremi Pino (he was injured this seasson, but he is SO UNDERRATED Player, he have nothing to be jealous of nico williams, good future if he recovers well from injury)
-Pablo Torre, he is really good but need a good loan from barcelona to a team where he can be the main player.
-Miguel Gutierrez, Left Back from girona this seasson.
-Paulo iago, probably next to yamal as the best spanish talent and potential. 16 years old in real madrid academy, look for videos of him... he is SO GOOD.
-Alberto Moleiro, he is really good but i think he is gonna need a few more years to develop full potential, he is kind of irregular, one good match and 2 not that well. Lets see what future brings to him.
-Enzo Alves, he maybe is too young for mention, 14 years old, but he is in real madrid academy (marcelo's son) and he is a monster striker, scorer machine. Lest see what he can becoma in future. He debuted with 13 years of age with spain sub-15.
      -Pablo barrios from atletico madrid.
      -Samu Omorodion striker from atletico.
-Marc casado from La masia, barcelona.
-Dean Huijsen, 19 years old center back from AS.Roma.
And of course, the rest, balde, gavi, pedri, lamine, cubarsí, fermín, baena etc...
Maybe the second best generation of spain is coming?? If all of them reach the potential they seem to have, we probably are gonna witness the next rulers of the world in nations football....

Most of these "great players" were already in our team in the last World Cup, and they did quite poorly. I don't consider 500 lateral passes to be remarkably good footbal, and I don't think we have any real top quality finishers. Quality finishers make all the difference in these kinds of competitons because national teams are a hodge podge team of players with no chemistry and the real difference maker is usually individual quality, which we don't have. Holding onto the ball for 70% of the time means nothing if you can't score and you're weak in transition.
