At just 16 I think he might be the most mature player of the tournament. Spain have been the best footballing team at this tournament and once they beat Germany they don't have any rivals who have played better. It is also very attractive football with the emphasis on attacking. I love watching Nico Williams take on players!!! I think this is the frustration for England fans, is that they would really like them to play this type of football and they have players capable of it. But GS has a completely different model of playing. The clash is between his more defensive style and the fans' desire for a type of play that reflects the current EPL @adamclery - are you a former player?
They focused on Mbappé immediately after Yamal's goal and the expression on his face seemed to indicate "Nice goal". Priceless. You could probably use that in future videos. Another great video. 😁
Ah, was wondering why you were doing your best impression of The Dude from The Big Lebowski. 🤣🤣 Lamine Yamal is a gem of a player also because of his mental and emotional maturity in games. Pressure doesn't seem to faze him. Almost always makes the right decision when it comes to passing, dribbling, crossing or cutting back. Drops back to cover his defender. Hopefully he stays scary as he matures.
Top 3 best things from 2024 Euros so far: 3. Yamal's semi final goal 2. Bellingham's 90+ minute bicycle kick to keep England in the tournament 1. Adam's post-match analysis videos
Rodri praised Yamal not because his amazing goal, but because his willingness to track back and defend. This is what Spain needed against Mbappe, who by the way, is totally missing in Yamal's goal. Mbappe likes to score, but he is only half a player compared to Yamal.
😂😂😂 Congrats Spain, Four-Four-Two didn't have to become stressed to break this match down. But tomorrow, Four-Four-two will be "tweaking" while watching England vs Netherlands, good luck England.😂😂😂
Yamal is just that special player. I have noticed that there is a rise in this generation of players, including yamal, Maiono, Gernacho, among others. The next decade of football is gonna be special.
RODRI after the match (tldr: everyone will remember the goal, but his defensive work was outstanding): “People will hold on to the goal, that sudden starring moment from a kid who is 16. And you have to have enormous quality to be able to do that, and doing it in a semi-final speaks to the player he is, the incredible future he has. Very few players can do that,” Rodri insisted. “But I hold on to his defensive commitment, the support he gave teammates, how he closed off spaces, the oxygen he gave us. How complete his game was … and I told him that personally … chapeau.”
Oh, for god sake, thank you so much! I'm not really keen on football although sometimes I'm interested in, but I didn't understand how consistent and strong was the approach to the match from Spain until your brilliant explanation. Thank you again for explaining the foundations of the successful play of Spain Team because it takes this brilliant but individual goals further than the inspiration of a single player.
For me Rodri not having many passes forward is more due to Spain chososing to keep possession over really attacking especially on the break during the 2nd half in particular, they were basically killing off the game by keeping the ball, thus the many sideway rodri passes.
No wonder there are lots of own goals recently, the fact that these days a shot deflection immediately counted as own goal, really makes the own goal very common now.

@FourFourTwo I wonder what your thoughts are on Muani getting subbed out. Felt to me like France was losing a "target player" (at least that what we'd call him in German, that is: someone who is an aerial threat) for players that wouldn't be able to fill that role. Giroud came in late to fill that void, but for about 20 minutes France didn't have a clear path towards scoring a goal, at least not similar to what you outlined for their only one in the game (or so it seemed to my amateurish eye).
