I can't imagine that horse surviving 15 years with such anxiety and frustration that no one was seriously injured horse or human. Thanks to you, Steve. This horse has a chance of living a better life. I do wonder, Steve, if you have thought of doing a training school/mentorship program for future trainers. There is only one Steve Young. It is evident that the equine world is in desperate need of trainers such as you. Happy trails to you and your loved ones.

Steve, this is the best video we didn’t see!! Honestly, your story telling was superb. I didn’t know what to expect, but my heart was racing when he lost the plot and started attacking the wall. Then when you said you touched him on the forehead and he lowered his head, I started to cry. What a story. That horse had his life changed that day and he will probably never forget you. All I can say is someone needs to make a movie about you! Well done mate!!❤

That poor horse!! So much anger, frustration and being misunderstood for 15 years! When all he needed was a show of good leadership. No handfeeding and a different place to be worked on. Well done, Steve!! I hope the owner keeps up all this work. I know that groom will for sure! It makes his life so much easier! Around the part where the horse was gnashing the wall again, no halter on; I was ready to say these owners need to invest in an animal communicator to figure out what it is that is creating this anger and frustration in him. But then you worked your magic once again and freed this poor animal's mind enough to find peace. You are an absolute Godsend Steve. We all learn from these videos (your storytelling was excellent, although I would have loved to witness this one) As another person commented, there is only one Steve Young, and the horse world needs hundreds and hundreds. WOULD you mentor young trainers? You and I are the same age, so unfortunately we're closer to the end than the beginning. When I go, it won't matter. But when you go, the future horses of the world will have lost their best chance at being both well behaved AND comfortably at peace within themselves and with their humans.
Even without the video this was one of the most incredible cases you've dealt with on the channel. Tears in my eyes, of compassion and joy for that horse!!

And then when you talked to the end about how he had started to scrape his teeth against the block wall again, in frustration after you worked with him…. And then how you calmed him….and then touched his forehead and he dropped his head… how he has suffered all these years because there has been no appropriate leadership until you came… the tears are rolling down my cheek cheeks… everyone was so fortunate that day to have you come…. I would have put him in a different stable, tied him up (I hate crossties), fed him in a different place. Anything to break history. Add bravery to your list of skills. I almost cried when you said the horse had come over to you in the stable and gave you his head. This is an amazing story. Thank you for all you do for people and their horses 🐎

What an amazing visit you had. Tanya must have been terrified that you would be hurt and I am relieved to hear that you remained safe. I picked up from your story that you had a real heart connection with this particular horse and could feel how he was feeling. Also, that the horse felt the same connection with you, realised that you were trying to communicate with him and would be the one to trust to make his life better with firm kindness. I was so happy to hear that handling is going better with this horse and that the groom has benefited from seeing a technique that shows mutual respect between human and horse. In my mind this is life changing for this horse and probably you have saved its life over the long term and also saved someone getting badly injured.
I hope you continue to get positive future feedback, also that you will one day see this horse again and be able to judge for yourself that the horse is no longer living a life of fear and stress.
With the signage displayed around the stables I am surprised that you were not asked if you minded being filmed.

Steve, You were godsent for him. His relief is the greatest gift of his life. I will NEVER handfeed again, if the result is imprisoning a horse soul to the depths of hell. Thank you for that lesson.

I sincerely hope so as well. This poor animal has had years of trying to tell them and ended up full of frustration. It is any wonder they didn't have him put down through miss understanding. God bless them for finally reaching out to someone like Steve to help their horse that was actually in need for having his owners retrained. Love to you Steve and to you as well Tanya for allowing him to take on this daunting challenge.

    Story time with Steve ❤
I've taught the basics of horsemanship to quite a few people and I can honesty say the most difficult part is getting people to see things differently and change.
So many believe the horse is the problem when most of the time it's the people changing their behavior that then allows the horse to change, too.

Steve, even without video this is RIVETING! Without the visuals, your process & explanation is front & center. I learned so much from this, even after watching your videos for a couple of years now. Understanding IS communication. There is nothing more important or precious in this world to any creature, than feeling seen & understood. But you have to cut through the distraction first, to be heard (firming up.) Then once you can get attention you can begin the communication part. Your way of working tells the horse, you SEE & UNDERSTAND their frustration &/or pain/fear and go about creating an all NEW scenario of working TOGETHER. A clean slate built of understanding & kindness (no fear.) It's just like dealing with a panicking person: you get them to focus first, allay their fear & only then move on together. Power trumps force every time! Amazing to hear you describe your process without the visuals!

Steve, I have nothing to do with horses but I always tune in to your videos. I could have cried for this poor animal. It was if he had PTSD. I could have cried for all you explained to the people around this horse. His biting the wall, is telling you he doesn't know hOw to cope. I find these explanations can be used even around people who have an inabiltY to express themselves properly. Bless you.
