You DO NOT talk too much. I knew nothing about horses and have never ridden. But, at the age of 88, I love watching and learning from you. And, I have to tell you, there are lessons in what you do about dealing with problem children too. I hear you about how horses do not reason the way people do, and understand what you are saying. But there is much more to learn from you than just about training horses. Happy New Year and Good Luck in 2025.
You are the most interesting teacher, you DONOT talk to much! I would love to have had you around when I had my horse when I was 16. I had a Tennessee walking horse that was 18 1/2 hands tall! My dad turned me against him scaring me telling me he was going to kill me until I got rid of him! Anyway back to you being patient and kind! I am SO glad you didn’t participate in the beating training! I knew of a big rancher that did that! It was horrible! Thank you for your convictions against that kind of behavior! Best wishes in the new year 2025 !
I work with children who have very little discipline thanks mainly to poor parenting. Lack of clear boundaries, no respect etc. I use very similar techniques to Steve and now even say to kids who get too close "unrequested forward motion!" All his skills diffuse tension. Kindness, firmness, clear boundaries, mutual respect but only one boss! It works for me and the kids I teach. Thank you, Steve for showing us how it's done. X
@ I love it! I bet the children get a kick out of that phrase! All people like clear boundaries to work with. Quicksand is tricky to get stuck in, and one can work out of it, but it takes knowhow and self assurance, and that is not where most children are in their lives. Bravo for your work!
I was intrigued by this horse right from the beginning of the video. He stood at the door and yawned and yawned, releasing his tension. He looked very relaxed and I could see how connected he was to Cameron. Chester needed Steve to teach him how to behave, something he didn't get to learn from his mother. During all the work, Chester would lick and chew when Steve paused, another sign of releasing tension. This horse knows how to let go of tension and anxiety in a good way. I could also see that when Cameron was on Chester's back. Chester stood at the mounting block and licked and chewed. No tension. He so much wants to be a good boy and be connected to his owner. Brilliant work by Steve to bring out the potential of this lovely horse.
Love you so much your gentle ways with horses and firmness with people is so awesome. You gave that family a wonderful gift and a path forward to horse happiness. I love your empathy and your willingness to help and guide so many. You and Tanya are Brilliant.
Super cute lil horse. His face when he's realizing maybe he doesn't have to work so hard. All that pulling away and space invading is actually alot of effort. Definitely sense of relief on his horse face.❤
The ending made me cry. Praise God this young man got help through this horse. They do so much for us. I've had people say to me, "I don't know what you see in it." (having horses) Which instantly sort of hurt, because I learned they don't know me at all. I know you can't expect everyone to understand your connection with horses, but for that moment, I found it insulting. Anyway, thank the Lord, He gave us animals. They help us in countless ways! 🙌 Thank you for these amazing videos!!!
I agree with you. I get told on and off why do I have horses, all they do is cost you money. But as you say they have no idea how they help us when we are down. I have one mare that can pick when I or anyone who goes near them if they are having a difficult time. I would not be without them.
Another amazing story. Tears, tears, tears...both of them did so well. Chester seems to have purpose in his life now and seemed to be at the start of letting his past go to begin new experiences to build into the process of his new Life. Merry Christmas to you and family. Love and Light. And what a gift your brought to both of them. A great Christmas for them.
This video was lovely and I found it very emotional. Green horse and green rider that's how I started you certainly learn a lot quickly. Congratulations on all the successes to Steve and family and all your clients. Blessings for the Christmas season and the year ahead.
Yes, And family, it’s the Steve You g Horsemanship family team that make this all possible! Truly a wonderful coming together of skills, dedication, caring, and education.
Overwhelming. Air. Hair. Skin. Bones. Pain never works. Not only that, it is wrong. Congrats. I have taught my untrained horse with these videos. Thanks.
How precious that Chester and Cameron get to learn how to ride together. That pony just walking the field with Cameron on his back was amazing. Well done all of you.
Firstly….Congratulations on your RUclips milestone!🎉 Secondly, anyone who doesn’t know what you do (horse owner or not) would likely think what you do is magic! Those of us who have needed your instruction (me with my third horse), know it’s pretty darn close to magic. You have the ability to show and describe what you are doing every moment…a lot of trainers can’t articulate what they are seeing in a horse and then doing to fix the problems. You helped me help my current horse more than anyone within 250 miles (or more)of me could have. Lastly, Cameron your love of horses shows in your patience with Chester. Who knows, you might be a trainer someday!! Kudos to you for letting Steve be filmed by Tanya for all of us to learn from!!! Thank you all!!!

Congratulations on your award. You really deserve it! Your videos are wonderful and I love how you work with all the horses. You don't need to inflict pain. This is so refreshing to see. Horses are very intelligent and when they have a leader they can count on, they really can be a joy. I've been a lifelong lover and rider of horses. It strikes me with this video that these troubled horses are probably thinking, “What the heck…”😂😂 And then they say, “Thank you Steve”…. Steve brings peace to a horses’ mind.
Great video, heart warming one as well. Fair play to Cameron, what a great job he has done to get as far as he has with not an easy horse, think you have a protégé in the making there Steve!
Gentle respect, the horse must respect you. But I agree with Steve 100% it should be taught as gentle as possible. The horse must respect you are the leader! Gentle with authority is what I call it! Steve is very good diagnosing problems and getting the horses respect all without harsh treatment!
pain teaches fear which looks like respect ..IT IS NOT RESPECT. Without respect you will train resentment and fear which ultimately kill you OR the horse

Cheered me up what a great partnership in the making.
It's the day after Christmas and I see this beautiful video showing a happy family with their happy and handsome horse. Thank you!
The confidence to not let the horse move you, and the respect and love that flows is inspirational to watch. Many more years of leadership to you and your family. Chester will enrich your lives! Great to see things progress.
Cameron, your story brought a tear to my eye. Persevere, you have done so great. What an inspiration. 💕💕💕

Sounds like Chester was brought into the world to find and save Cameron!

Thank you, what a lovely story, A beautiful horse with wonderful owners. Wishing you and your family, actually I feel your channel is one big happy family, a very Merry Christmas and New Year. I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year x
What an amazing video! So heartwarming and beautiful! Wonderful story and progress ❤️🐎🎄
Good to remember that a horse feels much safer and more settled and secure when the human shows that he can be trusted to keep the horse safe. Otherwise the horse has to be in charge to keep itself safe.
Merry Christmas.Well done Steve....What a gift for Chester having a better relationship.
