As we are learning in the evolution of training animals, causing pain may distract a horse but we all know it doesn’t feel good. If a horse suffers from PTSD because of experiencing severe pain due to twitching or some other ‘tool’ used to detain or distract them someone claiming that the experience causes endorphins that calm the horse is a load of horse you-know-what. If it had been calming there is a chance the horse wouldn’t remember a bad experience. Logic. Poor girl and I wonder who the foal’s sire was? Oh well … Love the video, Steve.

I bought a Welsh Cob mare, that came from Wales, and had only been in Sweden ( my home country) fore a few months. She was very nervous and i gave her a alot of time to settle. After a while, i noticed that she became a bit round, and she had i beautiful foul the following year. It took a lot of time and energi with one more horse, and the foal of course needed a friend to play with, and so on...😆 It didnt turned out as planned, but they are still with me, all 3. Her foal is now 7 years old, and a perfect litte ridinghorse. He is s calm and confident, less sensitive and and nervous than hes mother. She is a lot calmer now thought and getting older, spending most of her time in the pasteur, just chilling.
I love how the love and want Susan has for a horses I’m 71 and have the same forever for horses always will Enjoyed this and seeing positive results and Susan doing so well and more confidence❤from the USA
Can I perhaps suggest high vis vest when on the roads for a bit of extra safety. What a beautiful horse and owner. Thanks for everything you do Steve, stay safe
I have had some bad experiences with drivers while horseback riding. So I really appreciate how respectful and considerate those drivers are being by having patience and going slowly.
Susan has done an amazing job with her. You can't fault Susan for being nervous about the road especially with what happened to her, its great you was able to come and help her so she will be able to work with Polly going forwards in a safer way for them both.
I bloody HATE twitching a horse, it's diabolical, so bloody CRUEL. Polly is going to be a wonderful riding horse (when her baby is old enough for Mama to be backed !) Wonderful video, thanks so much x
I saw a controversial practice called ‘laying down ‘on another channel and I couldn’t believe my eyes ,the things humans have learnt to do to short cut training is sickening
Please come to Wisconsin! I couldn't afford you though. I live alone and this rescue horse has knocked me down twice, once injuring my leg quite badly. I learn so much from your videos. Thank you!!!
He dozens of videos on the basic groundwork he does. Watch a bunchof them and start practicing with your horse. That’s what I did and it made a world of difference. Good luck!
How sweet that she’s in foal! I thought there was a lot of improvement! Can’t wait for the update! Lots of luck on the Florida trip! Just sort of step over the debris 😉☺️🫶💕….not to be the bearer of bad news…but there’s another hurricane coming so stay safe💖🎈❤️💕🫶
@sue5242 Hello Sue. Would you mind telling me how much is the dollar cost to become a channel member such as you are ? Is there one set price, or various prices ? Thank you. 🤗 🐴 💕
Lovely horse, lovely owner. Live to someone my age starting a horse! I started my mare at 65! Good luck Susan you are doing brilliantly and reaching out fircsome help is SO smart!!
I'm sorry. I just began screaming in my house about twitching and it makes me feel better that this comment section has a record of it. Apparently. 😁 Thank you Steve and Tanya sooooooooooooooo much. Also i did catch the preggo thing right away. So I'm not completely mad.
No, you’re NOT mad. I had never heard of twitching but I what a horrible, horrible thing to do to another being. If my horse had been twitched I don’t think I’d ever be able to stop kissing them and apologizing for how cruel humans can be. Blech. You are in the right to have such a reaction to torture. Take care.
@@rommadsen6443 Thank you. 😉 I don't know. I was watching a video yesterday in a language i don't speak. It's the father's channel and his young daughter rides Arabians VERY well and they seem very knowledgeable. They posted a short i didn't understand so i began reading comments. To me the horse looked like it was stuck with the door to his stall beneath him. It has an upside down crescent shape(like a bowl) so it didn't seem to be injuring him in the moment. Just a strange position to be stuck in. Anywho, someone came around the corner with a bag and the horse and man startled each other and the horse grabbed the bag with his teeth. Kinda comical now that I'm writing it out. Many commented that the horse was a demon or had rabies. It's very shocking to me. Essentially i don't know how people come up with things and sometimes it seems obviously wrong but it turns out not to be obvious. 😊
Thats a nice horse for a buy one get one free! If the foal is like mum a matching pair for driving eventually. If riding becomes to difficult. Barry Hook is on here with driving training vids, he's another one who's very good at 'bomb proofing' them in such a skilfully way.
❤ this mare! Beautiful nature, gentle spirit. I’d say, she will make a lovely mother to her foal. Saw the owner rub between mare’s ears! Owner is lovely, helping mare to forget trauma of this horrible twitching practice! Thank you Youngman family for dedication to your gifting! Horse power!! ❤ from Ireland 🇮🇪.
I enjoy watching your show .. Have been out of the horses for about 20 years.. But it is absolute pleasure watching your show and your talent for training these horses ..
What a beautiful horse! And good for the owner, she seems like she’s really worked on her before Steve gets there. Lovely to see, I bet they will be great partners. The foal will be a delight to someone.
Has Steve been able to watch the Navajo horse gentler's on the Horse Plus Humane Society RUclips channel. They are amazing, and like you, they have that same quiet gentle manner with horses. Wish you could make a visit to their sanctuary in Tennessee, whilst in the US. Not sure if your trip to Florida will be in jeopardy, due to the hurricanes? Polly is a lovely mare and hope all goes well with her foaling and continued training. ❤
Great video Steve. Currently on a journey with my new ex racer and he's been a dream since he came off the lorry three weeks ago. His kind, good nature helps but your training has been invaluable whilst i wait for him to put a bit more weight on before getting onboard and I don't think either of us can wait, we seem to have such a strong bond already. I'm not being 'tough' enough with the backing up though so that's good to see in this video and also he's not seen traffic so this video is very relevant. Oh and the flag came out for the first time yesterday ... he didn't even bat an eye and i was waving it like a loony in the end but without looking at him he just chilled, watching for when it was going to mean something to him, he's such a dude :) Keep up the great work. Anthony
A stunning horse Polly! And such a lovely owner. So glad she called Steve. Although she is obviously a very knowledgeable and experienced horsewoman she also knows when to ask for help and that’s great. Steve again shows us some valuable lessons in horsemanship and how to do it! ( and how NOT to RE: twitches. I don’t care what anyone says it’s cruel and traumatic and no horse person worth their salt would never descend to that level)Steve uses a gentle mindful approach which has a much more positive outcome. I also noticed that the drivers on the whole were definately more respectful and kept a safe speed and distance.
Susan!!! What an amazing job she has done with Polly so far!! I think she has been the best prepared for your visit, than anyone else i have seen you work with. WELL DONE SUSAN👍👍👍
Fabulous video Steve. I love following your video’s I’m from the NW of uk 🇬🇧 not far from Carlisle, lived in USA 36 1/2yrs old lady 🤣. What a lovely mare she is and will only become even better. The owner is lovely the two (almost 3) make a great match together. Polly is so loving , calm, I would say a loyal companion once the trust is fully bonded. Susan will love Polly’s baby just as much as her mum. Wish Susan a virtual hug 🤗 and lots of love 🥰 from a very loving fan of Polly & her baby foal . 🩷🩷🩷
What a lovely, brave horse and that she was lucky to get an experienced owner and the miracle of Steve Young with you respect and gentle consistent training. A pleasure to watch I hope you show us the foal in spring. Thanks
Beautiful horse. Exposing and desensitizing is so important. I remember our 6 month old auction buy and worked 6 months on showing him everything. Walk down the street, load, unload, had kids throwing newspapers in the wind, walk around the fire pit, crossing the creek many times, laundry on the line, pails and metal noises, gate work, so many things can be done just in ground work long before riding.
Such a sweet horse. I so love watching your videos. My love of horses throughout my life has never faded and the wish I'd experienced a life with one sadly passes me by as I age..... I'm now nearly 60. So I now feed my need through your videos and thank you. I get it. I love it.
What a smart, thoughtful, and all around lovely horse. They will have a wonderful relationship. I can tell that she is going to get right to using all of those instructions. That was a very uplifting video; it would be awesome if we could get an update at some point!
What a lovely property Susan has! So serene. I loved it when she sided up Polly and said she just wanted to jump on her back and Steve didn’t mid a beat and responded, not on my watch! But I don’t blame Susan one bit! I would feel the same way. I wish them all the best with her foal.
What a beautiful horse. Susan is going to have a lovely horse and plus an extra one. This reminds me of many years ago when one of the Pony Club kids leased a pony mare and we would make comments she looked pregnant, but the owner was adamant she was not. The pony was ridden and even jumping the night before she had her foal, which shocked the young girl who was leasing her, but more so the owner, Mare and foal were both ok. What I liked about this video was seeing Steve in slow motion exactly doing. stepping back when backing rasing arm. etc.
From having that injury, if I were you Susan, I would be working with Polly wearing a helmet, ESPECIALLY on / around the road with Traffic xx. Polly is beautiful. Looking forward to progress updates and, of course, the mum and foal updated xx
I loved and was really happy I came across this video. My horse was an conamara. She was very like polly in your video but crossed with the thoroughbred. Such a lovely time to spend watching this in Australia ❤
The horseman I learned from in the 1970's said 'get a twitch on him' when my youngster needed cipping . But then he said 'now you eed to train him, you can't use the twitch every time'. Why not' says I... 'Because they think they're going to die.. the wolves get them by the nose... And they think they see Heaven'. The man was a groping git but something else with horses
I recently saw (on another channel that I quickly unsubscribed from) a disturbing sight it was the trainer “laying down” a mare ,I couldn’t believe my eyes he climbed on top(big big fella) of her after forcing her down with hobbles then started pulling on her tongue, the mare was traumatised and the trainer was very happy with himself …I wish I had not seen it
Oh how lovely the mare is and gorgeous and smart. I would love to see the foal, and I know. The foal will be as smart as mom with the best Owner, trainer. Good Job and Good Luck 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤😊😊
Polly is SO pretty, my favorite colour dapple grey! Wonder what colour her baby will be! Was she purchased accidentally preggers? So is there any way to find out who the baby daddy is?
Great video. Youre methods really do work. My horse has completely changed since implementing your exercises and I am so thankful. Polly is lovely and her and Susan have a very bright future. Thank you Steve for sharing yourself with us! From Sydney, Australia. (we love you here)
Beautiful Polly, ID'S have such nice temperaments. Well done Sue, you've made a great start with her & she already loves you ro bits. Poor love, being ear twitched for God's sake, the only reason they stop moving is cos of the excruciating pain! I did years ago have to hold a couple of horses on nose twitches to be stitched up by vets, but it was in extreme emergency, it is absolutely not a shortcut to decent, humane Training! Looking forward to seeing Polly's foal.
The foal will be a blessing a if she handles the foal from birth well and gently, the mare will gain her trust and by concentrating on a well handled foal, the mare will learn too. She is a beautiful looking mare who has either lacked early handling or was badly started too young. Either way Susan has the opportunity for a new start with this mare if she doesn’t rush it and gives her time to settle. Keep the contact regular between horse and owner…show her lots of affection without necessarily instructing all the time. She is just a green horse, who hasn’t had clear instruction. Good luck. Keep the mare and foal in a small area for awhile until the mare trusts you and looks forward to greeting you at intervals throughout the day. Good Wishes.
Lovely work on the road with the wide variety of autos. When my mare was young, I took Warwick Schiller's suggestion and had her follow my mate's car up and down the road. When she got comfortable with that, I had her walk beside then walk in front of the car. She did very well with this.
Beautiful mare. Humans are so cruel to animals. Imagine how painful twitching is. Thanks for all you do for the horses, Steve. Love and respect from New Zealand 💚 🌿
What a lovely horse. She is quick to learn and wants to be with people. She seems to have a kind nature as well

I love how the love and want Susan has for a horses
I’m 71 and have the same forever for horses always will
Enjoyed this and seeing positive results and Susan doing so well and more confidence❤from the USA
What a great owner ❤
Twitching, disgusting practice.
Agree. It’s lazy.
I was told itz a focus thing. They cant think multi task. So they think of the pain instead of whats being done to them
I saw a controversial practice called ‘laying down ‘on another channel and I couldn’t believe my eyes ,the things humans have learnt to do to short cut training is sickening
Teach the horse that you're going to hurt it and then hurt it for not trusting you. And then say the horse is the problem
Horrifying! 😢
Karma to the lazy monsters for doing this, especially that woman torturing the Arabian.
Polly is a beauty and I believe she will continue to understand more and feel more and more comfortable with her life with Susan. ♥️
Polly is stunning! Congratulations on all the progress you made with this sweet soul!
Wonderful to watch! Hope you have a safe journey next week during Hurricane Season. Thank you Young Family! 🇨🇦🥰Sharon.
What a beautiful horse ,she's definitely got a lovely home
Please come to Wisconsin! I couldn't afford you though. I live alone and this rescue horse has knocked me down twice, once injuring my leg quite badly. I learn so much from your videos. Thank you!!!
He dozens of videos on the basic groundwork he does. Watch a bunchof them and start practicing with your horse. That’s what I did and it made a world of difference. Good luck!
One of the best ways to help a horse get over their fear is to have them follow what scared them. Steve did a wonderful job “chasing” the cars!
Great Work!!! But Susan did a great job bevorehand!!
All the best wishes to her and Polly and the baby and Susan!!!
Beautiful mare ❤️
Polly is gorgeous.
Thank you. 🤗 🐴 💕
@@tiffanyfrehleyyeshuaismy0153 I believe it’s $7.95 per month
Lovely horse, lovely owner.
Live to someone my age starting a horse! I started my mare at 65! Good luck Susan you are doing brilliantly and reaching out fircsome help is SO smart!!
Anther amazing video.Safe travels.
I'm sorry.
I just began screaming in my house about twitching and it makes me feel better that this comment section has a record of it.
Apparently.
😁
Thank you Steve and Tanya sooooooooooooooo much.
Take care.

Thank you.
😉
I don't know.
Seconded for Barry Hook 👍🏻 (BarryHook2 channel on RUclips)
❤ this mare! Beautiful nature, gentle spirit. I’d say, she will make a lovely mother to her foal. Saw the owner rub between mare’s ears! Owner is lovely, helping mare to forget trauma of this horrible twitching practice! Thank you Youngman family for dedication to your gifting! Horse power!! ❤ from Ireland 🇮🇪.
See how quick Polly was to start turning to Steve to ask "what should I do now?"
Beautiful horse, wonderful owner, perfect session! Thank you Steve and Tanya for helping equine and their partners. Again. ❤️🇨🇦
Beautiful mare 😊
Polly is a stunner, lovely owner and a beautiful property. It’ll be great to see the foal.👏🏻
A Feature film in the making:
"Something About Polly".
Yes!! ❤️🔥🫶❤️🔥
lovely mare
I enjoy watching your show .. Have been out of the horses for about 20 years.. But it is absolute pleasure watching your show and your talent for training these horses ..
What a beautiful horse! And good for the owner, she seems like she’s really worked on her before Steve gets there. Lovely to see, I bet they will be great partners. The foal will be a delight to someone.
Steve, I really hope your trip to Florida was not too badly impacted by hurricane Milton. Been hoping you are somewhere safe and cozy. Cheers.
Love the look of this mare! She seems sweet and willing.
Pretty horse in foal
Anthony
Twitcing is horrible, Polly is a beautiful mare, bet she'll have an equally beautiful foal. Another great video Steve, Tanya. I pick up lots of ideas.
Leadership, repetition, and staying relaxed are the things I’ve learned most from you.
Thank you Steve, that was again super exciting , dangerous ans yet very instructive. Hello from germany
What a beautiful horse ♥
What a amazing job has been done by Susan! What a lovely mare❤ Thank you Steve and Tanya for sharing the video! All the best wishes! ❤
Great Teacher and never fails to impress me at how much progress each horse makes with just a couple of hours with Steve... wonderful to watch!
Such a sweet horse. I so love watching your videos. My love of horses throughout my life has never faded and the wish I'd experienced a life with one sadly passes me by as I age..... I'm now nearly 60. So I now feed my need through your videos and thank you. I get it. I love it.
What a beautiful horse, and a lovely owner. Hey Steve, you cannot retire..🙏
Polly is stunning and smart great combo.
Lovely Irish horse, and a lovely foal on the way.
Great video thank you again, and have fun in Florida, ❤❤❤,
What a smart, thoughtful, and all around lovely horse. They will have a wonderful relationship. I can tell that she is going to get right to using all of those instructions. That was a very uplifting video; it would be awesome if we could get an update at some point!
Thanks!
What I liked about this video was seeing Steve in slow motion exactly doing. stepping back when backing rasing arm. etc.
Amazing horse/owner. Wonderful how polite drivers are there.
Beautiful intelligent horse. Susan has a gem. Looking forward to hopefully seeing the foal when she arrives.
Steve makes it look so easy always 😂
I recently saw (on another channel that I quickly unsubscribed from) a disturbing sight it was the trainer “laying down” a mare ,I couldn’t believe my eyes he climbed on top(big big fella) of her after forcing her down with hobbles then started pulling on her tongue, the mare was traumatised and the trainer was very happy with himself …I wish I had not seen it
Beautiful looking Mare and smart.. Well done Susan..
Polly is lovely! Can't wait to see her foal.
(we love you here)
❤ You folk's have such a way with people
As well as animals 😊
She is beautiful and very smart! Well done Steve and Tanya!
What a beautiful horse! Would love to see her foal. Please take care if you are off to Florida! 😊
Beautiful mare.
Humans are so cruel to animals. Imagine how painful twitching is.
Thanks for all you do for the horses, Steve.
Love and respect from New Zealand 💚 🌿
Well done as usual Steve. Another day closer to retirement.! Ha Ha Ha, like Tanya said on the video to Susan, "He say's that all the time..!!!
Love from Elly fore all the great things you do fore the people and the horses ❤
Are drivers always that polite there?
What a lovely horse. Well done Susan 👏 😊
