What a lovely sweet horse she is, and so intelligent! I really enjoy watching Steve patiently & calmly teaching the horse to understand and develop trust and 'language' with him. I couldn't bear to watch the 'twitching' segment and will only watch Steve's beautiful method of training the horse AND human. Thank you Steve & Tanya, you're the best.

Same thing happened with the Gypsy Cob my Mum and Dad bought for my Niece in November last year. They had no idea she was in foal. She gave birth to a lovely Colt back in June. He’s definitely a lovely surprise. We all love him to bits. ❤

I bought a Welsh Cob mare, that came from Wales, and had only been in Sweden ( my home country) fore a few months. She was very nervous and i gave her a alot of time to settle. After a while, i noticed that she became a bit round, and she had i beautiful foul the following year. It took a lot of time and energi with one more horse, and the foal of course needed a friend to play with, and so on...😆 It didnt turned out as planned, but they are still with me, all 3. Her foal is now 7 years old, and a perfect litte ridinghorse. He is s calm and confident, less sensitive and and nervous than hes mother. She is a lot calmer now thought and getting older, spending most of her time in the pasteur, just chilling.

Susan, you are a very talented lady, already starting the training. You have a beautiful mare there. Enjoy. I would be very interested to see what the foal looks like. ❤

Brilliant video! Our horses are due in Tahoe on Thursday
We are in an urban interface area with urbanized bears
We saved the last horse property in our town in 1988
Our 4-H club runs a small stable on the site of a historic pack station
I've worked horses 60+ years and have been learning So Much from your videos!
Our club Mascot is a wild born Chincoteague Pony given to me 5 years old untrained with dangerous behavior
I studied hard and had to change many things that were self taught
I've been to Buck's clinic years ago, but the way you explain what you are doing makes me see the timing much better!
Our horses are coming fresh from the ranch. The Chincoteague Pony and "George" one of the ranches performance bred quarter horses
On his dam's side, he goes back to Man O War in just 8 generations
"Quincy Zan" a foundation Quarter Horse is his sire
He had a successful barrel racing career in CA, NV, OR, WA in the Open division
The National 4-H Motto is "To Make the Best, Better"
    National 4-H Week Oct 6th -12th
I am Excited to see how much my horsemanship has improved
Having the horses come fresh and "George" having never been here before will be a real test of their foundation and give me a chance to come up a level
We are having meetings and demonstrations through 4-H Week
Out of all your videos this one is one that I will use to get the kids started
My co leader is a gal who started in my club at 9, went on to earn her college money as a wrangler and packer
We are poised to reintroduce ourselves to our community
North Lake Tahoe has changed so much, people are Surprised to find horses here
We are the last of the holdouts
I'm Grateful for the work you do and this resource to get the kids properly connected, right at the start
I'll try for some more "Quality & Grace"🐎❤️🐎

As we are learning in the evolution of training animals, causing pain may distract a horse but we all know it doesn’t feel good. If a horse suffers from PTSD because of experiencing severe pain due to twitching or some other ‘tool’ used to detain or distract them someone claiming that the experience causes endorphins that calm the horse is a load of horse you-know-what. If it had been calming there is a chance the horse wouldn’t remember a bad experience. Logic.
Poor girl and I wonder who the foal’s sire was? Oh well … Love the video, Steve.

My word! Why don’t those twitching people try it on themselves and see if it helps them?
Forget that type of pain thinking… use Steve’s methods which guide, and also Congruent communication to solve so many human issues! (My favorite books are the: How To Talk So Kids Will Listen….. books, and they apply to all ages and all situations in their principles!)
Lovely session and awesome how owner and horse both are so open and eager for learning.

Beautiful horse. Exposing and desensitizing is so important. I remember our 6 month old auction buy and worked 6 months on showing him everything. Walk down the street, load, unload, had kids throwing newspapers in the wind, walk around the fire pit, crossing the creek many times, laundry on the line, pails and metal noises, gate work, so many things can be done just in ground work long before riding.

The horseman I learned from in the 1970's said 'get a twitch on him' when my youngster needed cipping . But then he said 'now you eed to train him, you can't use the twitch every time'. Why not' says I... 'Because they think they're going to die.. the wolves get them by the nose... And they think they see Heaven'.

( and how NOT to RE: twitches. I don’t care what anyone says it’s cruel and traumatic and no horse person worth their salt would never descend to that level)Steve uses a gentle mindful approach which has a much more positive outcome.
I also noticed that the drivers on the whole were definately more respectful and kept a safe speed and distance.

I don't know. I was watching a video yesterday in a language i don't speak. It's the father's channel and his young daughter rides Arabians VERY well and they seem very knowledgeable. They posted a short i didn't understand so i began reading comments.
To me the horse looked like it was stuck with the door to his stall beneath him.
It has an upside down crescent shape(like a bowl) so it didn't seem to be injuring him in the moment. Just a strange position to be stuck in.
Anywho, someone came around the corner with a bag and the horse and man startled each other and the horse grabbed the bag with his teeth.
Kinda comical now that I'm writing it out.
Many commented that the horse was a demon or had rabies.
      It's very shocking to me.
Essentially i don't know how people come up with things and sometimes it seems obviously wrong but it turns out not to be obvious.

Great video Steve. Currently on a journey with my new ex racer and he's been a dream since he came off the lorry three weeks ago. His kind, good nature helps but your training has been invaluable whilst i wait for him to put a bit more weight on before getting onboard and I don't think either of us can wait, we seem to have such a strong bond already. I'm not being 'tough' enough with the backing up though so that's good to see in this video and also he's not seen traffic so this video is very relevant. Oh and the flag came out for the first time yesterday ... he didn't even bat an eye and i was waving it like a loony in the end but without looking at him he just chilled, watching for when it was going to mean something to him, he's such a dude :) Keep up the great work. Not being disrespectful, but in "medicine" back in the day, african women (and sometimes "common" women) were expected to not feel so much pain so procedures were done on them (and in some cases still are) without any painkillers or anesthetics. The medical field was dominated by men. Dog training used to be more barbaric with clubs and such, but its been getting better. Here's hoping enlightened ways are taking over all around.

    What’s this … you’re retiring? 😳😢😭 I know what I heard!
Brilliant VLOG … what a beautiful dapple grey mare … and there’s no point in commiserating over the fact she’s in foal. You’re going to have to accept it … and don’t forget she could very well pick up on your displeasure.
I felt she was in foal when I first saw her at the start … and yes I guessed correctly. I would say it’s a Spring foal too. Maybe they bred her and didn’t think she had taken and just thought they’d sell her. Unless, they allow their stallions to run with the mares, in a herd. The fact that she’s five and green, suggests it may have been more of a breeding facility.
As always, ground work is imperative and the start to any training. You could see she had ground work already done. The lining up at the block took her no time at all to master. She’s definitely a bright mare and has a lot going for her!
To the owner … all the best with the foal. You’ll see, it’ll be a blessing in some way and you’ll handle it … don’t stress about it.
Well I hope you both have safe travels coming over here … I’m in the North (🇨🇦) and maybe someday you’ll both come and visit all of us up here!
Happy trails ~ safe travels! 🙏🙌✝️✡️❤️

Polly is SO pretty, my favorite colour dapple grey! Wonder what colour her baby will be! Was she purchased accidentally preggers? So is there any way to find out who the baby daddy is?

Beautiful Polly, ID'S have such nice temperaments. Well done Sue, you've made a great start with her & she already loves you ro bits.
Poor love, being ear twitched for God's sake, the only reason they stop moving is cos of the excruciating pain! I did years ago have to hold a couple of horses on nose twitches to be stitched up by vets, but it was in extreme emergency, it is absolutely not a shortcut to decent, humane Training!
Looking forward to seeing Polly's foal.

Is it Polly or Pauline and I’m glad she’s in foal. And where was she from? Sometimes I can’t catch what you say because of the accent, sorry! Very smart and beautiful horse.

I feel incredibly smug but I took one look at that tum in the intro and thought, oh, she’s pregnant! Sad that the girl has been badly used. I hate twitching. Sad for the owner. And the pregnancy? Foals are a problem if they are not wanted. It’s getting like cats and dogs. Horses are being abandoned due to the costs. I know Sue won’t do that but any foal or indeed, any unwanted animal, is a great shame on humans. But a lovely video. A lovely pretty mare. I’m sure she will do well. Polly would have really have appreciated your kindness Steve.

I think Susan said Polly would be her last horse. Last but one now we know the secret🤣Polly seems a lovely mare, a good partner for Susan. All the best for them both!

I had no idea they twitch ears...what a horrible thing to do. That can do permanent damage to those delicate structures.
