- Today was a great day and I'm glad to share it with you! We've been eating some tasty food at home and in the Georgian cafe. We've visited the local zoo in our regional Russian city and checked out some snakes there. We found an old car from the Soviet Union era for sale on the street and I had the most wonderful time walking at the late evening around our beautiful city centre with my friend. Hope you'll enjoy this day too!✨

Googled both recipes. The Khachapuri looked scrumptious and the recipe looks easy. I thought you were eating Chinese Dumplings but I found a vegetarian recipe for the Khinkali and now I have to try both😋

In Austin Texas they have a zoo that has only rescue animals in it. It is funded by donations. This is the kind of zoo I like.

I was just in Austin! Where is this zoo? I have to visit on my next trip there!
@@stephaniesebastian8382 Many of the animals at the Austin Zoo were previously owned by individuals as "pets" (often illegally) and underwent abuse. In these cases, the animals were either surrendered or seized by authorities. If a rescue organization like the Austin Zoo hadn't intervened, they would be euthanized. These animals have never lived in the wild and are beyond the point where they can be rehabilitated and released into the wild and have any chance of survival. No, wild animals shouldn't be held in captivity but rescue organizations can provide a chance at a decent life for animals that would otherwise be killed.
Hey vika, as a biologist, I recognise the vital importance of zoos in the matter of keeping endangered species protected from extinction. Zoos algo rescue many individuals from international trafficking, accidents and other terrible conditions. Of course not all of them have the structure and income to assure the best life that these animals deserve, and that’s why we should fight to protect them, not end them. Hence, sea world and this kind of place is just straight up animal abuse, it’s cruel and there’s no concern in their well being. Hope this helps, regards from Brazil ✨
I agree. We have in my country something similar to sea world but parts of the animals there are rescues and they educate people on what they do to keep them healthy. They do have dolfin shows but the enclosures they have are pretty big and still some animal activists want them to close down. I do love animals and know not every zoo is good for the animals but there are plenty of places that are doing their best to not abuse the animals.
There's a real calmness and simplicity to your life that's so attractive. It's like you and your family have figured out how to truly LIVE... which is by not being consumer with possessions, goods or longing for physical things that bring no joy. I feel like I'm stuck in a hamster wheel of consumption.
I’ve noticed from the many Russian accounts I follow on Instagram that the parks and grassy area aren’t manicured like in Europe and the USA. But that’s great! It’s better for the bees!! 🐝

Yes, it is beautiful in the summer. But in the winter and spring it can be kind of grey and gloomy. Or all white and snowy. The nicest Russian months are from May to November.
@@zephyros3039 I think what you are talking about is actually mostly true for Moscow and Petersburg, and Siberia for example is very sunny, brightly white in winter. But: freezing cold, yeah.

What I can say about zoos are, I used to work at the Dallas zoo (Texas) and when I first started there the cages were very small and it was very sad and as a zookeeper you do everything you can to make the animals comfortable, I’m glad that we had some donations come in and were able to make huge areas that were more natural for them so things have changed a lot for some zoos but there are still other zoos that need a lot of work and care.
We don’t have Georgian food anywhere in my area and it looks so good.
Watching little Agatha has me reminiscing about the old days when my daughter was her age. Your city is lovely and green. See you next time.

it was khachapuri Ajarian style (pastry with cheese& liquid yolk centre) and khinkali (dumplings with minced meat).

Vika,im with you about zoos,it makes me sad to seewild animals penned up in cages or small enclosures,i realize its necessary to conserve some endangered species but,like you,i wonder if the animals are treated well. I also love that you put down your phone to devote your attention to Agatha. There are sooo many ppl who are online constantly and seem to resent having to tear themselves away to take care of their families. Thanks for letting us all tag along on your fun outing! Zoos here in Brasil it's like a place for rescued animals, a place that take after for animals that can't live properly in a wild/nature place. In some zoos they also do research about treatment for diseases, and things like that. It's very cool. You and you family are a breath of fresh air, thanks for sharing!

Your channel is such a nice view of a "normal" family in Russia. It's why I've subscribed, I enjoy seeing how others live in the rest of the world (I live in Canada). Thumbs up!
Circus big no, especially in Russia, I saw 2 bears rescued from a russian circus and it was heartbreaking. Zoos not for me, there is the option of sanctuary instead (animals rescued but cannot be released back into the wild for various reasons). Idk if that’s an option in your city but it’s respectful towards the animals and people can still see them in a habitat close to their natural one. Great especially for kids. Another great option for kids-petting zoos with farm animals, lambs, baby goats, cows, piggies, they all enjoy the human attention and children absolutely love it.

The first 2 years of life, there is so much physical growth. 2 to 5ish, you really see the connections and the gears turning in their brains as they figure things out. It's amazing to see. You can see the moment they make the connection in their expression. It happens as they get older, but those first few years, it's really amazing.

Finally, I love your "moral dilemma" comments about zoos, as I feel the same. What decides it for me is when I visit one it's not difficult to tell
if the animals have a high quality of life or not. If yes, then zoos can be beneficial for not just the animals, but to teach humans how important
it is for us to be good stewards of this world.

I think that the animals looked well cared for, the enclosures seemed clean and the whole environment looked good and interesting for the human visitors. Believe me I have seen much worse places.
