Glad you guys are getting your 4 meter band. I’m almost certain that Yaesu has ignored our continued requests for 1.25 meter (220) band for USA version radios.
Well, for those calculations about battery life, quite often the receive means that the radio's speaker is working, and the stand-by often means that the receiver is squelched, which is not all that common on SSB...
This looks very interesting, I’ve held off getting the IC705 to replace my 20+ year old FT817 to see what Yaesu would eventually replace that model with.
@@ThinKkBIGG That's what would make sense and look perfect on the shark desk. Just use the FTD X10 chassis make it cover 2 m 70 cm and whatever else you need.
Yes, I’d like a 100 watt version of this new release and a 9700 competitor… we do have the 710, as wonderful as it is, a follow on to the 7300… hmm, does all that show Yaesu are playing catch-up?
I love my 705. It has WiFi, so I can control it remotely via SDR-Control (with built in digital modes). I use my bluetooth earphones when I'm in noisy environment. The battery lasts for hours on SSB, and I can charge it via USB. If I want, I can monitor the temp of the radio, but my 705 has never been close to the redline, not even when doing FT8. So I am not getting on the ftx-1f hype train just yet.
I guess I'm out of that loop: As of September 2014, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) denied a petition to create a 4-meter band in the United States. I'm guessing they have been paid off by the big corp Telecoms.
Hi Peter, I won't be buying the new Yaesu radio. I am very happy with my Icom 705. On the battery I get over 2 hours run time on FT8 with 5 watts. Besides a lot of my friends have brought new Yaesu radio's and have broken down in the first month or so. My own FTDX10 malfunctioned within 3 months and it had to go back for repair. Still it nice we are getting some new models. Although I think they should start making some sub 600 pounds radio for hf to add a little extra choice. All the best David M0DUU
Thank you for the update. As a die-hard QRP op, I'm looking forward to the release date. Currently, I'm using the IC-705 as the portable radio and the FT-710 as the base radio, and I must admit that the FT-710 performs very well. Definitely, I'm placing the pre-order. I'm sure it will be less expensive than the FT-710 ether version. It's time to place the IC-705 on the market, I guess. Many 73,s de M7SZY.
Another new rig - 😵💫 Jazus - There's nearly a new rig for every day of the week nowadays. Where will it all end? Probably in an empty wallet or divorce! 🥸 Nifty looing rig.

Great to see a radio that compliments the range from Yaesu, I agree that low power operating can bring a lot of fun.
Thank You Peter for the update! 73

Yes have no idea what they actually mean.

You just have to wait a little longer for the radio!
I still have my fingers crossed for an IC9700 competitor from Yaesu.
FTDX-10 with VHF/UHF and satelite...

That kenwood looks blooming awful. Ftdx1f should've been 100w,think they missed a trick there

Yes there is a lot se don’t know yet.

Yes I am going to get one myself.
I can't see it being cheaper than the FT-710, I'd be surprised if it's less than £1200.
I'm listening to FM broadcast on my 818 right now. I hope it can do that. I wonder if it was worth the few cents for the extra chip! ? :D
Im thinking it will be a similar proce point to the ic705 ? Maybe touch less to be competitive??.
Yes good news about the inclusion of 4M, but 20W on external power supply would have been much more desirable.
Is this new rig fully Duplex?
I believe so but we need to wait for full published info.
@@watersstanton Do it may be an option for Sat work then. Interesting.
Any idea on the retail price?
I said in the Video there is no price info yet.
Maybe a clip on linear like the old 290/790???
What about the 690?
If it had 100W, they would sell the whole wagon
With the current trend with Propagation I'll be surprised if many will be buying new rigs at the moment?
What! With F layer due to hit high spots in the Autumn and sporadic E already showing itself on 4m and VK at S9 plus last night!
@@watersstanton Just kidding.... 🤣🤣🤣
So 4m was also confirmed for the IC705 👀
0:28 Shortcut to music
0:35 Shortcut to after the music
WiFi enabled would be great
Yes but is full duplex
Please, does anyone know the battery capacity?
5670mAh
Thanks, it was mentioned later in the video! Cheers again.
