Soviet Cruiser "Dmitri Donskoi" Review - World of Warships Blitz

Since I'm already looking at Soviet cruisers, let's go and check out the T9 on the sort-of-light-cruiser line. It's an interesting change from the excellent Chapayev at tier 8.

Actually awesome other than the size. It does the best when hunting dds since it has that laser accuracy. Just don't pop your head out too much or you'll be returning to port in 2 salvo from any bb.

Absolutely. Now, to be fair, it's the same with Chappy, so the style isn't that different, but the big change / oddity here is that we get the same 6% fire chance on the 180s, with a much slower reload, which means her danger to BBs is actually lower at range than the T8. Learning to use the AP correctly is quite essential, only to be then moved back to an HE spammer with Nevsky.

The T7 and 8 are ur typical long range HE spammer, then comes donskoi which is a budget Hindenburg and then back to another long range HE spammer, except now that one has 8 guns instead of 12. Going to moskva made more sense from chap with Donskoi at T9. Now its more confusion than progression.

My problem with this ship has been that I have chosen to stick with the #1 rule of my old fleet, which was that "you MUST always cap bases"(in center control, domination and epicenter battles). Their rule on capping definitely increases odds of winning battles by points(especially when enemy players dont follow it), but it makes for frustrating and sometimes short games in Donskoi, due to its poor maneuverability and lack of armor.

Great ship. This is not a HE spammer or AA ship. Great ship to have in your team to scout and deter destroyers. It can handle other cruisers quite well. I stay away from BBs unless supported
I would recommend maneuverability set up over concealment. You are spotting and tackling DDs, so you will get spotted anyway

I think it depends on where you're playing. She's fast enough to go with DDs early on, but a single salvo from a T10 BB can take 2/3 of your HP off.
That's why I usually stay at range to support my DDs, but far enough from enemy BBs that I don't get spotted, which is where the concealment comes in. It allows for more forward positioning early on, and better chances at inflicting significant damage on enemy DDs.
In return, it's pretty useless after the opening phase, whereas rudder would be more useful for kiting etc, so I'd say it's an even trade. If you play on more competitive servers, I'd go concealment, otherwise rudder. E.g. on Asia, it was noticeably harder without concealment, whereas on NA, I'd have built for rudder shift. Can't say about EU, since I don't play there 🙂

Good timing, been gradually grinding through the Nevski line - the ships up to Chapayev were great, and found Donskoi a much rougher grind. If a t10 BB as much as looks at you your HP just withers away 😂
As someone who plays mainly solo randoms, the Chappy is a squishy ship but can still carry games with those fast-firing flame throwers. But with the Donskoi you are more reliant on team mates (and preferably using them as meat shields 😂), which makes it a tougher ship to play. Particularly when your team decides cap is lava and you don’t really have the armour or HP to try and do it yourself.
Oh, and another reason BBs like to take out cruisers like the Donskoi is the cruiser kill battle honours - a lot of tech tree BB lines have one state that requires 30 or even 50 cruiser kills, so when BBs see a cruiser they want to sink it. But if you can use that to your advantage and lure them into a cross fire, you can use it to your advantage too. 😂

Is that really reliable to look at turrets direction on enemy ships? I mean, it happened to me soooo many time to see think that am not aimed, and suddenly the turrets instantly turns towards me...
And because am CL player... = Back to port.
I thought it was a matter of graph settings, but with a new phone I run wowb in full specs, and still the same
