Dude, if they make a 40XX SP I might actually buy it, especially if it has a better internal design, better hinge and a stick. Just to replace the 35XX H that I already have.
@waldamy Honestly man, I have no allegiance to miyoo. Just want a gba sp with analogs capable of n64. Someone just do it already. I'll even buy an overpriced ayaneo sp if they make it.
@@B0ARL0RD same man, same. I just want a GBA SP form factor device, and a 3DS form factor device - no need for 2 screens, just give me a clamshell. Retroid Pocket Flip was almost the one, just a bit more power. If they release a Flip 2, I'm buying it straight away.
I know it has been a point of contention but I actually do like the analog sticks on the Miyoo Flip because it makes it open to more PS1 and Portmaster games and the idea of just walking around with a portable Stardew Valley in my pants makes me feel giddy. So yeah, hoping that it turns out well hardware-wise. If the software sucked then I could always count on the community to fix it down the line. Also, I REALLY hope Miyoo took notes from the Annernic Flip's battery placement problem.
depending on the price, I may get the miyoo flip at launch and then deal with the inevitable issues until they are fixed and continue to use my RG35XXSP if it's really bad... The main reason I want the Miyoo flip is for the analogue sticks for added system compatibility compared to the SP and that is still relevant.
Out of all the retro gaming channels gotta say Joey is the most soothing relaxing to watch love the guides too detailed and concise 👍🏼oh and ordered the 16gb 1tb black Evo £491 inc shipping
I am on the fence to getting the flip, depends on how powerful it is. My only retro handheld is the MM+ and its still plenty good for what i use it for. It would either have to be a significant upgrade to screen quality, buttons, or ability to play n64 games with some level of true competency
I ordered the Evo, it sounds like my perfect device. More power than Odin, full size sticks, better screen. I can’t use X86 handhelds because of the fan noise and power inefficiency so an endgame Android device like this is perfect
5:41 - I fully agree about the EVO. Looks like nice hardware and I like with both the Pocket Air and EVO, Aya Neo has reused working x86 designs and just dropped an ARM chipset. The sticks, screen, and cooling should be top quality. Only issue I have is with the price and Canadian shipping/customs/additional taxes along with the 8GB of RAM for the lower spec. If they could've hit 12GB of RAM and an AMOLED screen for the price today, at least for the early backers, I think that would've helped seal the deal for many. Overall, that's a minor gripe. Guess the other only issues would be sound, fan noise at the higher cooling and back triggers but most of those are less of an issue with headphones. Really Aya Neo has delivered on what some of us wanted with the Odin 2 and the Odin 2 with the IPS screen is available for a cheaper price. Win - win for all.
Man i JUST ordered the Anbernic SP. so ofc nowwww there's a small hint of Miyoo flip news. After I been thinking whether I should get an SP or not after a couple months of back and forth waiting for Miyoo to update us on anything. Also the news style segment is pretty rad. Lol should I cancel my order for the Anbernic SP? Ahhhh!
RIP "Game Informer". I'm part of the problem; I haven't read them in years. I hope it doesn't end up like Deadspin, which was a great sports + culture website owned by Gawker and eventually was nuked to oblivion before being brought back to life as a shambling zombie by G/O Media. I could totally see GameStop selling off the "Game Informer" name to some outfit who turns it into a Retro Dodo style SEO fest or maybe they go hardcore into AI generated articles. I'm not excited for the Miyoo Flip. I like it better than the Anbernic SP though. I don't see why people dislike the presence of sticks. They're low profile so they'll stay out of the way and they give you an option if you do want to play certain PS1 games. It's not like they'd meaningfully lower the price of the handheld if they removed them. I just don't get the angst. It's because I'm out of touch.
The thing for me about the Miyoo Flip is that it feels like a design that's clashing with itself. Having both sticks isn't really useful outside higher tier systems, which the chipset likely isn't going to support. Additionally, it's a small design, so the sticks don't get placed in a more "natural" spot, so they look like they'd be awkward to use overall. And worst of all, at this point, the RG35xx SP came out and ate the Flip's lunch. What is the target audience for the device at this point? Like the niche is basically people who want Onion OS, on a SP style clamshell, with both analog sticks, and can accept that the systems that use said analog sticks may not work well. I basically kinda expected Miyoo to just have binned the device at this point, but here we are I suppose.
I'm so torn on the Ayaneo Evo. I really want the bezelless OLED screen, but the device itself is too big for my liking. I just got my Odin 2 Mini as well. If that had a 6" bezelless OLED screen it would be my endgame handheld. Now these two devices are just sitting right at the edge of each side of that territory. I definitely don't need two devices that do the same thing. I guess I'll just wait until Ayn releases an Odin 3 mini and trade up my O2M...
After seeing the specs of some of these $300-400 handhelds it makes me realize that Nintendo have no excuse not to supercharge their next handheld. (And hopefully allow us to play older games).
Pocket Evo ticks many boxes for premium retro experience; 120Hz for BFI, OLED=higher nits to make up for that, strong chip for more advanced CRT shaders. Curious to see how it would work out on Android.
Does anyone use BFI on their handhelds? I understand it's useful on a larger OLED screens and x86 hardware but I can't find much information about using it on an AMOLED phone display. Didn't the Android version of retroarch hide the BFI options because people with 60hz phones were turning it on? Then Android can sometimes have sync issues which cause stuttering? Maybe that's changed in that past few years.
I am not interested in the miyoo flip, infact i think I'll flip them off, but saying that i loved the miyoo mini plus.. helps with bordom when i need to be in hospital.
Do you know if RUclipsrs (maybe even you yourself) will get these for testing purposes before the IGG campaign ends? I'd love to see some real comparisons to the Odin 2 or the Mini.
I was really looking forward to the flip but they've taken soooo long and the failiure of the a30 really turned me off from them. I also read on some comments that miyoo was trying to get people to take down their bad reviews of the a30? definitely not cool. I love the flip form factor but the sticks just use terrible to use. these companies need to use those new sticks. The a30 is still tempting at the $30 price point but still, my mini v3 may be my last miyoo device. i hope magicx really brings some heat. would love a 4'' 4x3 device from them
I'm on the fence about the Miyoo Flip. I like the usual quality that Miyoo devices have and LOVE onion OS but I already have a RG35xxsp and have gotten it to the point where its my most used device so I dont really have a need for another SP type device so... unless Miyoo makes a 10/10 device I don't think I'll buy it

Pocket Evo is bonkers. Just doesn't make sense. For the money you can get an ASUS ROG Ally (they're all over the used market with people buying the Ally X) and get a gorgeous 1080P 120Hz screen for all the game streaming you could want, PLUS everything a PC handheld can do. You'll still have good-ish battery life for in-home remote play if that's your use case. Android handhelds make sense when they're more compact and cheaper than PC handhelds. When they get big and expensive, they stop making sense.
There will be a 40xxsp before the flip comes out.😂

I mean it plays ps1 pretty well you can use the joysticks in a lot of things
ill get the miyoo flip after a month too make sure they are no issues or not to many issues
That's some good news right there
Joey I bought the Aya Neo Pocket Evo as well! Excited for it to arrive :-)
Do you think the Evo will have good ergonomics? Comparable to the Odin 2 for example
Don't think I'll be able to resist buying the flip on day 1.
I pre-ordered 3 AYANEO EVO 24GB 1TB model. I’m thinking pre-ordering 1 or two more since the pre-order price is good.
Was excited for Flip, not anymore. At this point they'll release it when I'm gonna be fully invested in Switch 2 release
I'll probably be skipping the Miyoo Flip Flop. Unless it's compatible with existing cfw it'll be useless.
I am going to wait for the Flip to be fixed but I think like the Mini Plus it will be the device to get
If the miyoo flip can come with enough power for decent ps2 i will consider it
thanks for another update joey - is the fix for the rg556 sticks automatic in an update?
Negative, you'll have to install GammaOS.
