Note - I did indeed test between no drivers, and there was two or three drivers that I had on hand that I went through. Most times the drivers didn't change much performance wise, but the turnip drivers would crash the device constantly - no drivers was the most stable. (even my livestream showed the hard crashes) But my video definitely isn't meant to be the gospel or definitive experience - just mine. I'm confident there's people out there that will try a million different combinations of drivers + firmware + emulator versions + more to make each game playable or better, but I'm not that person. Just wanted to get this video out to showcase Switch since everyone seems to be so scared nowadays.
Thanks for the great coverage of the Retroid 5, Joey! You mentioned you used the Turnip drivers, I found on both my Odin Pro (SD845) and Pimax Portal (SD865+) that Turnip drivers rarely helped and usually made things worse in Yuzu. Instead you can try using the Pojav/Qualcomm v0615vxx driver's in Yuzu/Sudachi for best results if you haven't already, it makes a massive difference.
Currently I have an Odin 2 Pro, and even with that i had to make several tweaks to get things running right. Having the right emulator and drivers helps. For instance sudachi didnt work well for me, but yuzu did. The regular qualcomm drivers helped but then i also use turnip driver 24.1.0 Test R18 version and assigned the drivers on a per game settings. For the RP5, you will definitely need to do a lot of tweaks to get things running right.
I own the odin 2 (base) and yeah switch emulation is a pain in the @ss with all those tweaking ..the best way to play switch games is to the console itself💯
@@simmzfour uh... no lol. Because with THIS title and THOSE opening titles in the video that is enough for a copyright strike. 3 strikes on his channel and RUclips removes it. But ok we should stop telling people not to do that because it annoys you.

I feel like this would be a downgrade coming from an Odin 2. It's why I preordered the Odin Portal. That said for the price and what you're getting Retroid knocked it out of the park.
Of course it's a downgrade, the Odin is just shy of Steamdeck money, this is clearly aimed at luring in budget minded consumers who want something that's not as much of a risk to take outside, I have to say it's working.
