    Lyrics
There is a woman in Somalia
Scraping for pearls on the roadside
There's a force stronger than nature
    Keeps her will alive
    This is how she's dying
    She's dyin' to survive
Don't know what she's made of
I would like to be that brave
She cries to the heaven above
There is a stone in my heart
She lives a life she didn't choose
And it hurts like brand new shoes
    Hurts like brand new shoes
There is a woman in Somalia
The sun gives her no mercy
The same sky we lay under
    Burns her to the bone
    Long as afternoon shadows
It's gonna take her to get home
    Each grain carefully wrapped up
    Pearls for her little girl
    Hallelujah
    Hallelujah
She cries to the heaven above
There is a stone in my heart
She lives in a world she didn't choose
And it hurts like brand new shoes
    Hurts like brand new shoes

In case anyone might be wondering Pearls represent grains of rice. For the poor people in Somalia rice is precious like pearls. This song is so deep and the visual was mind blowing!!!

Sade is amazing. She sings this song with grace, serenity, and power while expressing the pain of the woman all at the same time. The simplicity and elegance of Sade in front of the sun rising in the beginning and set, in the end, feel so symbolic and fit well. This song feels like it would be in an Oscar-winning documentary or movie about a serious world issue. I feel like watching Sade sing is timeless beauty and talent in motion.

nothing brings human emotion and awareness to the conditions in Somalia like this song. I have always sensed their was difficulty in Somalia but nothing has ever brought me this close to empathy. the mile we might walk in another person shoes. in the arms of the angel was instrumental in bringing our hearts closer to human interaction with animals. How effective this can be in bringing a wider awareness of the survival conditions in Somalia. most of the time we feel the need to keep our focus aiding people in the USA and rightfully so, but there is a broader compassion with other countries bringing unity in heartfelt causes for which we can align ourselves within for bringing positive change in the lives of those suffering undeservedly . may God bring protection to the women and children of Somalia nourish their souls and their bodies and strengthen the men in defending their people. may it be within our universe to aid in the destruction of those who bring harm to them
