      it's probably just me, but I liked that these reviews were only 2-3 min early on. Short and concise summary of each campaign. Now they are getting more and more verbose and moving more into strategy which was the purpose of the guides, so the reviews have now become faction guides part two.

    @christianehn5495 Год назад +2

    I agree with W. van Burik that the campaign 'guides' are a bad move. I think the problem is even worse than he writes - the play suggestions somtimes don´t actually work or are a bit sloppy. For example, Legend says you have enough movement to attack Laurelorn with Khazrak on turn 1 without mentioning you need to detach the bray-shaman to do that (which IMO means it´s not really intentional for you to do it). As for Azhag, when I play as the video suggests, Ungrim does not force march into my territory, he goes back to Gnashrak´s Lair if you withdraw. (It´s possible I have the army in slightly the wrong position, but it happened more than once). If the video suggests a move it should IMO also show it, and show it working. And in any case, specific suggestions dependent on certain exact movement and recruitment may very well not survive patches.
    Also, personally I don´t WANT tips and tricks in campaign review videos. It reminds me of the Civ 6 fandom site, which is a really bad (read: much much worse) offender when it comes to unsolicited gameplay advice. I want to be able to enjoy a LoTW video without it going "oh and here´s this trick move". Put that stuff in a separate video.
    I think it´s clear that Legend has more fun and it´s less stressful to put out these videos than streams, and it´s nice to see, but I would prefer less pointers.

      I've been waiting for Skrag. It's such a nightmare start until you figure out a solution, curious what Legend did. Mine is to take Belegar's province capital and then trade it back to him for a non aggression pact, otherwise I get crushed by the ordertide.

      @@desfefe I got a bunch of events one game that stacked loads of leadership and had orc boyz with more guts than the stunties, had like 80 odd leadership, they performed surprisingly well. Back in wh2 that would’ve been a detriment cause of how bad being in melee was.

    I am not going to play Azhag until Chaos Dwarfs appear on the map, but still - this is a very good guide for start :)
    Edit (Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs has been released):
    I started the campaign a few times and Legend was right, but it's worth bearing in mind that Ungrim probably didn't watch this review. He chased after my second lord once, but only brought back 2 Slayers. My poor archers had to cut through the armor of the rest of his army. The second time he actually took a lot of Slayers with him, but... he didn't chase my army, after my retreating he just went south. And I thought he was waiting for me in ambush, so I did the same. Very frustrating ;)

    These campaign reviews are becoming more and more like your guides, and to be frank, I don't think this is a development for the better.
    Sure, it's what you are personally good at, but make them campaign guides, not reviews.
    Your initial ones were really good primers: they told you what you get of a campaign, what you get out of it, if it's fun, and maybe what is in need of an update (but that's pushing the limits of what should be in a review). They were short (2 to 4 minutes) and told you what you would get out of playing that particular faction.
    These guides, on the other hand, tell you how you should play. However for a review, such information is superfluous. Reviews tell you about the experience and are descriptive. Campaign guides are about optimization and are prescriptive. A review does not logically contain prescriptive elements, unless it is absolutely essential for the experience, e.g., your entire campaign experience hangs in the balance between good and bad if you play it a certain way. The optimal first turns strategy is not such information. Initial setbacks can be overcome, and the player will easily discover this themselves, so it's unlikely to be relevant in the first place.
    I suggest to drop any campaign guide information, and set a time limit of 4 minutes for these videos. As hard as it is considering where your strengths are, I think the quality of these videos would improve if you make a separate video in which you *do* tell about such video, and then you can refer to that video in your reviews. Think of a video that tells you what the experience is, and if you're interested in this campaign, there's another video they can watch to see how they should get started and an in-depth explanation of the campaign mechanics.
