The only addition what Rakarth needs imo is his (and generic lords) red skill tree line giving bonuses to all monsters instead of only dark elf monster units. Then it would also be possible to boost the stats of non-dark elf monsters as well.
Rakarth also has a special Raiding Stance which doesn't tire his units out, so you can use it all the time without worrying about lowering your combat effectiveness.
I'm sure that others have already said this, but thank you for doing these campaign reviews. You've given me a ton of useful information to use while playing this game. Again Thank you Legend!
Thank you for these videos! I’ve been playing similar lords for quite some time and you’ve motivated me to try some weaker factions thanks to your tips
Thanks Legend; any chance you’ll update your older videos to this better format? Would love to hear more opinions on skills for the earlier lords you did
Considering the upcoming update and how these reviews are getting deeper and better I think that making new reviews for the already reviewed factions looks like a good idea.
Hey Legend, just wanted to mention I absolutely love your reviews of all the legendary lords in Immortal Empires, pure genius. What I’d love to see after all this is your top 5 or top 3 favorite LL campaigns for Immortal Empires. Keep up the good work, cheers mate!
You know, a great capstone for this series would be a teir-list based on faction funness. only 10 - 20 seconds per faction and you can tell people to check out the full review on them if they want more info, but it'd be a great "at a glance" resource for people! Plus it should avoid canabalising views from the reviews because it'll come out after the rest of them!
I had Rome Total war back when it came out on CD I recently got back into the series I have Warhammer II Your streams have been a boon to my learning curve thanks for all the 8 hr. videos I plan on getting WH III but not to soon WH II is a handful for a casual gamer.
One thing that bothers me about Rakarth is that he’s a LL who has access to special units, but then doesn’t buff them that much. From what I can tell his MD buff is very inconsistent. He buffs harpies (their stat bar is green on the recruit screen) but he doesn’t buff -Feral cold ones -Feral mammoth -Feral wyvern -Giant spiders -Bears -Giant wolves -Sabretusks And if the MD buff doesn’t work properly, then the other buffs probably don’t work either. I know that some units don’t really need much of a buff to be strong, but that is a huge portion of units that will be just as powerful 200 turns in as they were on turn 1 and that doesn’t feel right. If we compare him to Dycha, she buffs all wild spirit units to some extent with some skills. Rakarth only buffs some monster pen units with skills and his starting trait is not consistent
They get buffed via the recruit rank. So his tradeoff is that the units will be at peak potential on recruitment (as he captures the strongest specimen he can find), but won't get much stronger beyond that. Makes sense from someone that kidnaps his monsters and see them as tools instead of compatriots.
Attention though. His "harpyclaw bolts" skill is currently bugged. After picking it, you cannot change the attack mode of your reaper bolt throwers, so single bolt mode only after that :(
I know they’ve acknowledged this bug on the forums but I’m not 100% sure whether it’s actually been fixed for 3.0. Really hoping it’ll be resolved by the time the patch is out!
I appreciate you not complaining about the dark elf mechanics, it's understandable that you hate them, but going in depth with the flaws with it every video covering dark elves would just be annoying.
Rakarth is one of the few lords that I actually enjoyed using the raid stance with (I usually prefer the camp stance) because doing so may give you free monsters !
Rakarth might be my favorite IE campaign. You can do different directions and there is a big variance of enemies what ever direction you choose. + Who doesn't love a big mean stack of different monsters.
If you take Karond kar and put a black arc to support the city make sure you do not garrison it. I had alith anar attack a settlement with an army in it and was a really tough fight which I would have won if I had my black arc abilities to clear up the melee blobs but nope. I even pulled it out and made sure it showed as army abilities before ending turn. Derailed the entire progress of the northern campaign.
everytime when legend say something about a trick start and reveal his strat for a smooth start into this campaign I feel forced to play this Campaign again immediately.
I had a super rough time taking on the tomb kings in the south. It seems the ai garrisons its army in the settlement just south of your starting area and only leaves it if the lizardmen come up from the south. It was impossible for me to dislodge them otherwise.
On the second turn I would actually recommend you raid not channel. You still get replenishment, a little bit of loot and a chance to get more monsters in the pen
I loved Rakarth's old start position because you were very close to Ulthuan and could go down and sack a coastal city over and over again to get a huge stack of dragons very early on
I hate fighting this lord. In my Sotek lizard men campaign, this dude always comes down around turn 30, he's level 22 with a full stack of beasts that are stat boosted to the moon.
Actually with Rakarth, you don't even need the short victory condition to recruit monsters at their highest rank. He will provide a total of +7 ranks from his gear and unique skill line, but also, Dark Elven factions (including Rakarth) have a research which increases the r.r. for certain monsters by additional +2. These are Hydra and Charybdis units, which are those that matter. And then you have the usual options like the Draft Master, and Dreaded and Feared, which are a generic blue line skills that every lord has an access to... pretty sweet.
I like how you mentioned the Feral Polar Bears here, but totally skipped them in the Drycha recruitment pool. As well as Ogre Maneaters in Sartossa. - All of the Lords you recently revived had some new units added in WH3.
the game typically has 4 resistances. Physical resistance, magic resistance (now spell resistance), ranged damage resistance and ward save (resistance against all). What he was saying is they simply changed the name of ward save in the case of Rakarth
@@javicoca I think abilities and item actives almost always use Damage resistance while item passives and skill bonuses use ward save. Why? I have no clue.
Thought with his start positions change, the name of the wizard he starts with doesn't make sense anymore (Boudicca was the name of a mythical British figure and Albion is Warhammer Not-Britain, or at least the pre-Middle Age version)
I consistently have issues with Rakarth's special mechanic straight up not working at all. It just never adds anything, ever. Raiding, winning battles, doing missions, nothing gets added.
Two or Three chuckaway free Harpies are good for the early to mid campaign. Just kamikaze blob up enemy missle units, click and then stop worrying about them.
Orks are my favorite campaigns right now. Easy confederation, good economy, strong melee units. Interested to know how fast you can confederate all legendary lord.
You can confederate faster if you ignore game bait. The game baits you to fight an army first, capture a settlement. When I did a Grom run, I just force marched straight for Wurzhag - got him confederated at lvl5 or 6. Didn't even touch the first army.
"JUST head south"...those Khatep Deserters put a damn wall on their city and wouldnt come out. 35 units in total. A absolute son of a bitch as he wouldn't come out so I had to attack and then draw him into a Sally to attack me. Tough fight on a terrible fucking map. My entire side of the map was wooded and downhill. Ended up getting it done but a crucial battle to break free south.
another very big threat is after confederating karond kar and getting rid of alith anar either with cylostras help or by yourself, in my campaign Belakor immediately declared war the turn after i confederated so he will be coming over to kick your ass if you arent prepared
I really love Rakarth but I wish they gave him a better way to get monsters not in your region than the rites. They're too inconsistent and I would rather having trade agreements with someone in the region gives you a chance of obtaining them every turn. Getting ice bears is far too much effort
Remember when they buffed Rakarth’s gaze ability? It’s a good buff! … They forgot to add the new effect to its upgraded version, making it worse This is why I hate that they balance things almost exclusively for multiplayer, they forget dumb stuff like this
This argument is so stale. They balance to make things appropriate for their cost and tier, whether that's reflected in multiplayer or not is kinda irrelevant. Multiplayer people dont really want to affect single player either and the trick to it is....they dont. Yes it sucks that they messed up Rakarth but that's just because they messed up a lot of things in IE, not because there's some secret multiplayer cabal forcing them to do the coding poorly. Having units improperly implemented makes them as useless for MP as it does IE. They also give you lord skills, faction effects, random events, hero skills, auras, equipment, followers and other things that can buff your units in single player. Units having +/- 4 melee attack or defense is really a non factor when the average redline skills can give them twice that much back. If you want things done a specific way, modders are always looking for ideas to make their mods better.
This needs an update because jade dragon comes south and tries to ruin your day. I beat him but my other enemies got me from the other side thx jade dargon😢
Physical resistance isn’t the same as ward save cause you have a chance block all damage from the base number 5-30 and then a a chance to block up to 90% physical resistance only gives you the 15% or whatever it is
Damage resist, the thing he was talking about, is the same as Ward Save, it reduces all incoming damage by that amount up to 90%. I'm like 85% sure. Physical and Damage are two totally different things, they get calculated differently, I know that for sure. It seems to be overly complex sometimes.
