3/24/13 - Fontana - Kyle Busch wins, while Logano and Hamlin mix it up

Kyle Busch passes Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano on the last lap of the Auto Club 400 to claim Toyota's first NSCS win in California. The win also marked the first NSCS win at Auto Club Speedway for Joe Gibbs Racing. Denny Hamlin suffered a broken vertebra in his lower back during his last lap crash. Tony Stewart also got into a scuffle with Joey Logano after the race for blocking him on the race's final restart.

I'm not a Denny Hamlin but I hate to see a driver have a serious injury like he did. To me though this was Joey's breakout race even though he didn't win. I think was the metaphorical transition representing end of the Joey Logano we knew from 09-12 to the Joey Logano we know today who runs up front and competes for wins a regular basis.

I really hate it how FOX completely glossed over the finish. Hamlin's wreck looked and was very bad, but c'mon, that was a hell of a finish. Classic, intense racing and a out of nowhere last lap pass from Busch after Logano and Hamlin got contact. I went nuts when they got to Turn 4 on the final lap. Best race in a long time at Auto Club Speedway.

This race had so many similarities in terms of the finish. It was like watching part 2 of the 1979 Daytona 500: Two drivers going for the win, they both wreck, the guy in third wins, there's even a fight after the race (With a different driver of course). Again, for this race being a Deji Vu to the '79 Daytona 500 is crazy!
