I just got my hammock last week and went hammock camping for the first time at the weekend. I had considered trying to get a slightly cheaper suspension setup but so glad I payed a few bucks more than I expected to pay for the suspension and went for dutch straps and beetle buckles. It absolutely poured rain from the moment I arrived at my camp site. I'd never used these buckles before but my "kit" I ordered from Dutch had these beetle buckles and thankfully they were super simple to get set up , so quick and easy to adjust even for a beginner in the middle of a thunderstorm. I was incredibly thankful for these. The added bonus was they acted as a water break from the water running down the strap. My 11' Netless wide hammock stayed bone dry all night. So despite the weather conditions this set up gave me a ton of confidence, I cant wait to go camping again. Thanks for making such a great product.
this has got to be your single best invention yet. a little bit of the old tried and tested with a small adaption. beats whoopies any day and is invinitely more adjustable than anything else
I am not Dutch (don't say it), but I do use the beetle buckles with with DIY Bridge hammock. I just loop each of the dog bone loops over the anchor just like you would the continuous loop, as Dutch demonstrated in the video. They both will fit securely.
Just put this system on my Hennesey Hammock, the only thing I wish is that the straps came in a different colour instead of black and white, drab olive and black would be awesome or just drab olive, basically something that doesn't stand out in the woods.
Hi Thom, it may or may not be an obvious one, but would rather run this by you, if you don't mind that is? Am I right in assuming this will work on a bridge hammock too, where a loops available? I have separation anxiety if I can't be with my beloved Warbonnet Ridgerunner 😉, would live to use this system, and from what I can gather I would attach it where the dogbone is? Remove the webbing & binder it came with, and use this instead. Great ideas as always, I'm starting to feel like the Mr T of Dutchware as can't get enough of your stuff. All the best Kindest regards Dean Wales, UK
You likely already know, but no, Eno ropes are too thick for this application. He sells the Amsteel continuous loops for like $5-7, so you could replace the OEM rope(s) quick and easy. Also, only really need one webbing strap/buckle per hammock. Two won't hurt, but that kind of adjustability is only needed on one end, not both. My gf and I use spreader bars with the same 2 anchors and only have the buckle straps on one end, and the Mantis with connected Amsteel to use with daisy chains on the other end. Getting rid of the carabineers feels SO GOOD and makes for a less lumpy stuff sack. Happy Hammocking!!

three years on and short and sweet still works. I was looking at the beetle buckles on the website and the video explained it all very well.

How would one measure 5 to 10 pounds of tension on the ridge line?
Really nice system! I'm interested!
will the beetle buckle work with the becket straps from warbonnet?
Very cool.:) also are they playing ping pong in the background?
Show us with the spreader bar mod for the 2-person side by side rig Dutch!
How long should i wait till i change out my continues loops, first sign of fray, or will they always fray a small amount?

Will the Beetle Buckles work with the loops that are standard on the ends of Eno hammocks?

we used ours on my sons hennesy hammock but it was pulled so tight we could not loosen it
How strong is this? Would a good knot on the strap work better?
Don't I wish I had these instead of the Dutch buckles. I need an 11 foot hammock too. Hehe. Some day.
Dutch, do you sell just the buckle without the straps?
Yes he does
Yes, and so much more on his site!!
