Only thing you can be sure is that Steve is gonna give the guy a bill when he leaves....LOL charge more if he watches you
That was funny !
That guy sounded like a teenager making every excuse not to clean his room about going in the attic to change the filter.
@Gianni Isaac definitely, I have been using InstaFlixxer for years myself :D
Good enough for this neighborhood. "Now go change your filter"...... Still scratching my head about propane being clean and a air filter change.
"So the filter ... is clean?" "Wellllll!! .... it's tough!!! .... It's in the attic.... have to get a ladder and walk on a board." That's like your high school prom date saying .... if only you had a condom? Oh darn, I'd have to drive all the way to the drug store, go inside, pay for a condom..... Really? I'm not a detective, but!!! If I could read between the lines .... I have no doubt this will be a frequent flyer. $$$$$ Mr. Customer, have a family member, neighbor or pay some entrepreneurial motivated kid to change the filter on a regular basis.
I love watching you solder things Steve! You make it look easy.
That propane is some clean stuff mama 😆👌
😂. I did a face palm when he said that
Propane is clean, just expensive.
This customer makes you think of additional uses for a wrench.
Lol
My favorites when they say “I’m just here just in case you need a hand” no thanks
Ms Molly is Working Again! Thanks Steve! 👍
I wish I still had hair like her!!
That guy is so annoying
He is not very smart.
He will pay. Stoopid people shit their money over and over again.
The sails person or the home owner the sails person is forcing the home owner to go into the attic where he feels in danger buisness prime focus is buisness and not you
He a helicopter type mama!
Miss molly loving this warm weather!!
I remember working on this line of Lennox I like the fact they made those panels easily removable to wash the condenser
Place I work at has one going out! Compressor running no fan! I cut the power to avoid thermal overload
Hey Steve, what kind of shape was the filter in ? Cracks me up, these people want the system working, but are too lazy to keep the filter clean.
Steve and Miss Molly...a great team!
Great repair Steve 👍👍
Just go change that darn filter already!
I have to wonder how that filter/dryer got so rusty. Maybe it predates the unit?
You want me to get my hands dirty climbing into a dirty attic and change filters? Not in this lifetime! 🤦🏻♂️😂😂😂😂
I guess their homes their Furnish is in the attic
Hola amigo increible ese filtro no lo cambiaron nunca ,buen trabajo saludos desde Argentina ,Abrazo grande y a las buenas practicas ...
Miss Molly, sure likes driving in that truck🐶
She’s a keeper Mama
So I think that when those filter drivers get brazed in almost nobody actually wraps it in a wet rag. So the paint gets burnt off during brazing then over time the paint fails and it rusted out since it’s steel. When I braze then in I don’t wrap them either but I like to spray paint them afterwards. This is only if it’s outside tho, which I always try to put it indoors anyway
This guy reminded me of my teenage son every excuse not to clean his room or throw out the garbage!!!
Think that customer really did NOT wanna go change that filter? 😂 1 helicopter surcharge coming up!
thanks for showing the whole process. I still haven't had to braze any parts in on the job yet and it's still a bit of an intimidating prospect.
Get some pipe and practice in a controlled environment... Practice makes perfect. Practice where you can mess up amd improve, not where a mess up costs you money
Never solder it can't hold the pressure
Fumblin with the service wrench mama!
I paint my filter/dryer with zinc paint. The original one got a leak due to rust and had to be replaced at around 12 years.
Stay Brite, no nitrogen purge, micron gauge located at the vacuum pump, no pressure test after opening the system. Good enough for New Bedford. Customer too lazy to check his filter.
Used stay brite 8 on 1000’s of 410 systems my hand to god never had a problem at a joint.
I thought solder didn't need nitrogen purge because it doesn't get hot enough .
Nate Peterson that’s correct, no nitrogen needed on any low temp soft solder
i thought you had to braze all A/C lines...no???
@@mikekohne9354 No they don't even braze condensers at the factory anymore
Good enough for this neighborhood.
Great Video. Happy Weekend . Thank you for sharing ^_^
Do those dryers generally last the life of the system?
Should have checked the evap coil first. I condemned 5 last week!
Hey Steve love the videos you make I need to learn how to tell the customers how it is like you do gave a question what did you use to braze/solder the filter dryer I burnt a few brazing with the normal sticks we use thanks again for the videos
Hey Steve I had an airease heat pump installed on my house in 2011 from day 1 I had trouble with it. 1 week ago 2 weeks ago I had a Freon leak they came out there and recharged and checked for leaks it leaks on the outside coil and down by the reversal valve unit is 9 years under a parts warranty they told it cost 3000$ labor to repair it the Freon charge lasted for a week it leaked back out. I decided to replace the unit. I had a lot of trouble with the airease heat pump I didn’t want put anymore money in to it. I replaced with a Trane
Not easy being cheesy!
It's not easy being chessy momma! Good enough for that neighborhood! 😎🔧
Great job and video like always ( Steven )
I thought Steve was mean, but I was wrong. He is spot on.
What are you using to solder the filter dryer ?
Would it of been a better idea to braze the joints instead of soldering with higher pressure from the 410a
Why can't people just leave you alone and let you do your job, your not being paid to be there friendly neighbor
I couldn't agree more as a tech myself.
@@Jon-hx7pe no good tradesperson shoild ever be upset.
Most excellent dog choice...I love the Chihuahua!!
Do you not provide estimates before you complete the work?
So is the nitrogen pressure test unnecessary?
How do you keep your beloved doggy cool when your servicing the customer ac. You got a great little dog. It’s part of the show.
I have a question I just had a Lennox elite series air handler and heat pump installed last week and the system requires r410a which is really not that cold of a refrigerant compared too r404a refrigerant could r404a take the place of r410a
Hey buddy how lovely is that having your doggy next you .
Only guarantee is I’m gonna give you a bill when I leave. Love it. I’m gonna use that one.
I had my outside unit replaced 2 years ago it’s a 407c, I don’t got one of those on my line. The original didn’t either, is it supposed to? I see them on a lot of other units.
If it's a Goodman unit it's inside the unit you can look through the top and see it
My '02 R22 Trane A/C doesn't have that inline dryer. Is that only required for R410a systems?
We definitely appreciate all your videos Steve, guys like you that are willing to teach at no cost are very hard to find! Also, that guys sounds like an Asshat.
That guy was a pain in the ass
lmfao i wish i could speak to homeowners the way steven does. my hero haha. "that's bullshit, they're just sayin that cause they don't wanna go up there" lol.
Just curious, why do you solder and not braze?
Love that stay-brite8.
Hello i been watching your videos. What kind of brazing sticks you use? It looks like it works. Very good in the roll
Steve i install Lennox haha way to go buddy nice video
This homeowner has no clue. Steve needed to school him a bit.
Why do you put your gauges on while the system is on ? Specially on 410 A !
You hand write your bills or are they electronic
Steve stopped charging at 5.8 deg. Subcooling. Where did he get that as the target subcooling???
Steve tried to get the guy to go back in the house, the guy tried to get Steve in the house!? Circus! LOL
haha - A Real S**tShow mama.
The control in that 46 year old Sears unit, was a riostat for the condenser fan motor. Old school head pressure controller.
Only thing guaranteed is thst big ass bill I am gonna hit you with before I leave...😆 😆 😆 classic!
By the way that rusted out filter looked, yep I’d say it is a problem. I just discovered as I hadn’t before looked at the outside unit in my townhouse and the date on the unit is 08/96. How that thing is still going who knows but there isn’t any rust on it...betting the entire unit has been babied by the old people who lived there before me. Glad I’m moving though after 4 years because I’m sure that unit will need replacing soon!
Thought I heard some pressure release when you took that suction valve cap off......
10:28 Translation: Stop staring at me!!!!! I hate when someones over my shoulder the whole damn time!!!!
Hi Steve, sounds like the truck has a charge air leak, which is that hissing noise you hear. Maybe one of the turbo or intercooler connections when they replaced the injectors. If resolved, you should pick up some power and mileage.
I was thinking this same thing.
That's why I prefer to install a filter/drier indoors.
Interesting... I'm not an A/C tech, but have only seen them outdoors, great idea!
Don’t most Lenox units have a drier in them from the factory...that drier looked much older than that unit
D W it did look damn old for that unit. He may live right on the coast with the salt air, or the installer may have burned a lot of paint off’ who knows. But is certainly could have been someone who didn’t bother to change it.
You would think that they would make the filter out of some better material being that it is outside all year long?
thanks for this nice video, has anyone noticed the soldering process, did steven use regular copper solder or those special high pressure copper phosphrous silver brazing rod ? thanks
Stay Bright 8
Stabrite 8 and has a higher tensile strength than silver brazing requires a special refrgerant flux..
She is ready to drive the truck!
That system looks neglected. I'm surprised that it still works for 10 to 12 years for a modern Lennox unit. I have a Lennox system from 1998 (23 years old) and still running strong.
How come u don't use silfos I was taught solder cant hold pressures
I dunno....maybe it's my lack of experience, but, I didn't trust that guy...Of course, I am sure Steve knew what to do as he's the one doing the work and getting paid....Tell ya one thing, Steve's skills are through the roof and when he dials it up, I completely trust the pro. Hi Molly!
Steve, if you flux the female sweat fittings on the filter drier, isn't there a chance of the acidic flux getting into the system?
Who cares that's a job for the next tech 😹
Listening to that guy, I bet dollars to donuts, he never changes the filter.
Another different video. Thanks Steve! Nice catch on the leak. Still on July 1st? Wow, you got swamped after lockdown.
how to change a drier in 15 mins, fucken mint bro love it.
How does a homeowner know if the drier filter is dirty? Mine is inside the outdoor unit?
Im in Illinois and i always install the filter dryer inside near the metering device. Being in Massachusetts i would imagine that dryers leak alot due to the Atlantic ocean if left outside
where at in IL? i'm in northern IL
@@neal5186 im nw of chi town in the burbs

@@neal5186 oh yeah your west of me
Island lake illinois and I'm a HVAC installer working for a terrible company out of wauconda IL.
One good thing there a Lennox dealer and there service part of the company will do things right .
Molly is the Captain on the ship, mama!
I don’t have an eye for the complex machines but I didn’t notice a leak in the rusty filter dryer. The solution sprayed on it had its own bubbles so I couldn’t tell even when he pointed to the leak. ☹️
Hey Steve, just curious, does the AC guru have AC in his truck? No problem if you don't, just curious.
I was waiting for Stevo to put his knee in that thorny weed, or tell the clueless office guy to trim the crap around the compressor
It's to hard Steve.... I have to get a ladder and climb... my goodness
2:10
Homeowner is close
Filter in house is for the"inside" of the house. Not combustion/burner area
I respect your work but I heard soldering copper pipes on high refrigerant pressures isn't good, you need brazing rods instead to hold the pieces together at that kind of pressure am I right or wrong? again that's what I heard
How much is 410A vs R22 per pound? I'm gonna need some R22 here in CT.
I charge 100 bucks a lb. for R22 in Virginia. I am sure it's more upstate.
@@thomasc5817 thanks! I havent checked the charge since 2007. Lol. Froze up last night. Crap.
Steve was charging $100 per pound
THOMAS C ..... damn. That’s around $2600 profit off a 30lb tank of R22 gas. But if you’re like most techs, you round up the actual amount of gas used or even flat out lie and cheat the customer. So your making $3500-$4,000 off a tank of gas. If you ever wonder why your customers helicopter and hover while you work, it’s because we don’t trust you. The HVAC repair industry is flooded with hacks and con men. Thankfully more and more people are learning how to DIY their a/c so that will weed out the sleazy type techs that overcharge their customers. But there will always be a need for smart honest and honorable HVAC mechanics.
Swich to 407c
Nice to see a leaka mama she's a leaka. Nothing that Steve and Ms Molly can't fix.
We just got a new Lennox 5 ton unit. We have a two story home and the upstairs cools down great, but the downstairs stays hot, no matter how I adjust the temperature. What could it be?
call back the installed to figure the problem out .
That's why I put the dryer inside near the coil
She's a leaker!
I try to put the liquid line dryers indoors because rust just eats them up outdoors.
That’s why you pain it with rustolium paint and also ensure your condenser is under a deck, but with enough air to breath.
Why did u stop adding refrigerant when the panel said 5 lbs 6 0z and u said u added 4.5 lbs
So why is that filter drier cartridge rustier than anything else around it? Is the casing made of steel? Why not make it with an alloy that won't rust? And if it's only designed to be installed inside where it will rust slower, why did the installer place it outside?
Good score on freon. Lol.
I want to know what he showed you inside the house
These type of customers always annoyed me... who wants to bet, he still hasn't changed that filter?
Yup! There sure is a leak in that there filter/dryer
We got a leaker!
Don't see many videos with Steve on a Lennox unit.
What type of solder did you use?
Stay Brite 8 Silver solder
Should be 15% silver brazing rod for high pressure R-410a refrigerant.
it's crazy they allow solder on 410A systems.
Get the shavings out of the pipe. Also where is the wet towel or gel for the valve cap?
