My grandmother saw me throwing the fat away and then quickly beat me. I wasted “liquid gold” and apparently committed a sin. Who knew! Roasted potatoes in bacon fat. It’s my guilty pleasure now. Loving the new episodes!
I was cleaning out a drawer the other year, and found a package of McDonald's ketchup that expired over 20 years ago. That was a couple years ago, too. I never even knew that McDonald's stuff had an expiry date.
You have to eat out WAY TOO MUCH to get that. So wasting money by eating out. People who actually struggle can't afford to eat out that much. Maybe once a month... If that
the bacon pasta is soooo good! i made it today for lunch. i'm struggling too hard for parmesan cheese even but the cheap white cheese i have already worked fine. 4 strips of bacon and 150g pasta feeds two people. thank you so much frankie for all these golden ideas.
Protip: If you walk up to the counter you can usually get end piece bacon, which may not look pretty, but is roughly $2-$2.50/lb (roughly 40-50 strips worth!). In comparison, the measely 5 strips of bacon he put on the tray were the same cost as a full pound? You can really save some extra money here. And 0.86 cents for 2 pieces of bread? You can still get a loaf for $1-$1.20 depending on if it's on sale. That comes to 20 cents at most per slice. Lettuce, also much cheaper than listed here... Doing the math, I've come to 75 cents per BLT.
I think it's more of a worse case scenario situation, like he uses the higher end of the spectrum, but know people can typically get it for the same or somewhat cheaper
I absolutely love watching Frankie. Smart, funny, insightful and knowledgeable about cooking. tThank you for your continued entertainment and for being you!
and they're perfect for all sorts of really cheap foods. heck, i'm sure he could fill a whole episode of just slow-cooking beans - how to cook dry beans, bean soup, chili and "refried" beans. and then just measure 1.5 cups of beans (the equivalent of a can) into baggies or containers and freeze. and then, of course, i'm sure frankie wouldn't want to waste the aquafaba (he's already mentioned it in one episode, i think), so there's a whole 'nother episode. :D
Gotta stick this in my “watch later” because being pregnant this sounds absolutely horrendous right now and the thought of watching it makes me feel sick 😂 but I know I’ll enjoy it later in life
Love you. your energy, and all of your videos. Had to finally subscribe because I need you in my life. Keep going !!! Any GOOD elevated recipe ideas using frozen foods ... hmm???
1:02 wow you must eat a lot of take out. : ) thank you for all the great ideas,I will certainly try out the candied bacon and the cookies : ) great show!
Yeah... People in the south have been using bacon fat for a hella long time. It’s very useful not to waste things like food so that’s why southern folks try to use a majority of everything they buy.
Welcome to the reason anyone who grew up learning Pennsylvania Dutch cooking keeps a jar of bacon fat in the fridge. It's also the best for cooking eggs.
where is pasta not $1/pound? it's that much at the Italian grocery by my house, and while the store brand pasta is usually $1 at wegmans, it's on sale right now for 79 cents. sure, if you buy a brand name, or a fancy variety, it's more, but he's just cooking regular penne.
ounce for ounce, the wedge is less expensive and better tasting than pregrated or shelf-stable. Say what you want, but my advice is simply to give you the best {price to taste ratio} - that in the hard Italian cheese department, that's how one achieves the optimal ratio.
@@FrankieCooks Would pecorino be a good relatively inexpensive substitute? (Seeing that it's pretty similar to parmesan, but with a bit more bite to it)
Your channel inspires me so much. I love the video content you bring to the table. You’ve impacted me so much that I’ve started a channel about street food inspired travel. If anybody here likes food and travel come stop by 👍🏽
DO NOT POUR BACON FAT DOWN THE DRAIN!!!
It clogs sewers and all that wasted flavor will make Frankie sad!
we know, that's why i said save it and made a recipe with it.
Tell me about it... I work in sewer line cleaning lol
@@Whiteknuckles20 thank you for your service, a true hero. Bless.
I put mine in an empty can and freeze it to use later
I am only subscribed to Tastemade for “Struggle Meals”

“unique and special just like you “ oh frankie stop hihihi 😊
The only reason I'm still subscribed to Tastemade is Frankie
"1 sandwich (2 servings)"
oh, frankie...
Haha right? Yes no that's not happening xD
R RQ they used all 6 bacon strips on the one sandwich
Love that packet drawer!! lol.. such a great idea. Frankie this is a great show. Thanks for the ideas my friend :)

It seems he uses the more expensive end of most of his ingredients -- maybe he lives in an expensive city.
Expensive is right. Holy moly. No wonder he has to try and eat cheap.
@@AceMcCrank Maybe he listed the price of a whole loaf of bread because you cant buy two pieces in most places
Usually he breaks it down to how much of the product you use though.

Me and my kids LOVE watching these! Sometimes they ask for what you made and I am 100% cool with that because its CHEAP
Bacon + Frankie = 😍. I basted roasted chicken 🐔 in bacon fat last night!
A tip: use bacon grease when cooking up Brussel Sprouts. Really gives some salty sweet flavor to them
I’m so happy that you guys are making Season 2. This is my favourite food show on the internet. Love Frankie’s work 👍
Struggle Meals is the best! Please consider doing an episode on crockpots, they are also the best!

Why? Can't you eat bacon?
I love bacon so much but when I was pregnant the smell of bacon made me so sick. Hormones and no bacon I cried so hard! Lol
Lol I couldn’t eat anything but cereal the first three months or smell anything everything was disgusting lol.
Have you changed your mind???
easily my favourite thing on youtube please make more

I really like your videos and use them a lot for Uni! Just putting it out there, some protein-rich vegetarian recipes would be great!
Frankie said the Piggie Bank was safe. Seconds later he smashes it to pieces.
Talk about betrayal...
I love these videos so much. The recipes allow me to make restaurant quality food that I never would've known how to make
This video changed my life. I saw this years ago and that bacon penne dish has made it into my regular meal rotation!
I really wanted to make the cookies but there wasn’t any measurements anywhere so I’mma wing this... right now. Update soon!
how did the cookies come out? i want to try those cookies too. the recipes are apparently on the app, but i don't install apps :(
Hey Frankie..... I am just learning to cook. How long did you bake the seasoned bacon strips in the oven?
Jar of bacon fat - always on the counter in our kitchen! #LeGourmetTV
Bacon fat also fries up the most amazing pancakes.
It's crazy how butter is literally the most saturated of all the fats. Love it
1:02 wow you must eat a lot of take out. : ) thank you for all the great ideas,I will certainly try out the candied bacon and the cookies : ) great show!
my favourite show on the internet
This is your best show tastemade, keep making it please
I would definitely add peas to the pasta dish. Yum!
I love how he said the pig was safe and like a minute later he smashes it with a meat tenderizer
Bro, you really went all in on the charisma 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
That pasta sauce looks AMAZING.
I love these videos! Frankie is awesome 😎
Great episode
He's so charming 🙈

I liked the pasta recipe!! Didn't think you could just cook with tomato paste!! :-)!!
Mmm this looks really good

Thats funny I love the Awstin Powers movies I have them all on dvd. Lol

How much sugar is in a packet? I buy sugar in bulk
We need struggle meal brand clothing! Id rock that stuff even in the kitchen at work yo!😁
Where can I find the recipes for these?
Thanks❤
Could you do a Struggle Meals show on Sandwich filler ideas?
BACON BACON BCAON... I'm extremely hungry now and craving for bacon.
HES BACK
You guys should add a little notation of how long it takes to make each dish along with the price
don't cook much?
Baking soda more like bacon soda
"You're safe"
proceeds to smash piggie in the intro.
Vinegar will curdle milk without the extra cost of lemon
Your Safe !! And the piggy smiles
Where can we find measurements?
Can you send me this recipe?
You were a valuable asset to people in the Great Depression weren't you?
The recipe for those cookies would be great
Frankie i need you to "struggle" me
😂😂 Me, too! He's such a cutie!!
How do you have a “packet drawer” if you don’t buy take out???
1$ pasta...

more struggle meals please
Is season 2 only 3 episodes??
You da man Frankie!
Great stuff. Check out Food Busker, he's making sum great bacon!
tbh kinda rlly fucking excited for this ep. can't wait to try n make something!
i love you frankie
Is this new?? Or a reupload of the old series?
Christ. I'm glad I'm not the only one that makes *boop* noises when cooking.
Bacon cookies yum
Since I have everything for that pasta dish anyway I guess I know what's for dinner today xD
does anyone else notice the $20 bill when he is mixing the money in the bowl in the intro
No recipes?
What is the struggle really if you can afford a whole wheel of parm!!!
not a wheel - a wheel is hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars. A wedge, which holds for months.
Its just a block. Like a wedge lump. Its still expensive... I just go without.
ounce for ounce, the wedge is less expensive and better tasting than pregrated or shelf-stable. Say what you want, but my advice is simply to give you the best {price to taste ratio} - that in the hard Italian cheese department, that's how one achieves the optimal ratio.
A wedge of parmesan is like... 3 to 4 bucks, tastes great, lasts a long time, and will make your life less sad.

When you said umami I instantly thought of Shokugeki no Soma

Yo like where is the recpie?

HIHIHI WE LOVE BACON
I think bacon is to crunchy but this sounds good
3 recipes in 1 video, damn!
Don't even talk to me about shrinkage
Are these sponsored by Smart and Final? That’s where the bag come from.
can i get the cookie recipe somewhere with actual weights?
A dozen cookies for 1.94...woah
That one sandwich is 2 servings?
FRANKIE
FRANKIES WORLD
WHERE IS ITTTTT 😭
Love the ideas, but the prices are way off.
Bacon is too expensive now...
in the beginning he looks like old tobuscus
Mmm, bacon

I can't find the puttanesca video on YT anymore 😐
we never never never throw away bacon fat.
Don’t pour it down the drain....🤦🏻♂️
