I have a platform with two fans in it that my laptop computer sits on top of. Powered by a cable plugged in to a USB port on my computer. The port is only active with the PC is on, the forced air cooling platform turns on and off with the PC. I have used this for years, never had an overheating issue.
We just took our pc to free air make sure it wasn't spaying water first using air chuck blow out dust bunnies cleaned around computer on the desk and inside pc.
That's true about temperatures for computers in the summer.
That's why I get fans to end that.
