I've got a 2015 and for the past 3 years had absolutely no issues with it (knock on wood). As long as you perform regular maintenance and clean out the hybrid battery fan behind the back seat at least once in 2 years this car may literally outlast you lol. The main reason why someone would buy a Prius is usually to get good gas Milledge but this should be the LAST reason why you should consider one. Here's why... 1. Priuses are 100% made in JAPAN! (Most Toyota's are manufactured in the USA so check if your VIN number starts with a "J" ) Priuses are sold in millions across the world (I've always noticed a Prius in any country I visit) which tells you how dependable and reliable these cars are made with exceptional quality. 2. There is no Alternator, power steering belt, AC belt, etc. as they are all electronic so there are less moving parts that can break down. 3. It uses Magnets along with break pads to help you slow down and it rejuvenates that energy to charge the batteries (smart) so your break pads may last up to around 130k miles. 4. This car is perfect if you are stuck in traffic or sitting in a parking lot because you can run your heater or A/C without using a single DROP of gas! (this is why Uber/Lyft drivers love hybrids) reason = the battery can move the vehicle up to 30MPH and if it runs out of juice the engine kicks on to charge the battery (smart again) 5. Here's a big one, it's got only ONE gear! And it's electronic! so you don't have to worry about transmission issues. 6. You don't ever need to worry about the start/stop technology in a Prius cos it's got NO STARTER! like traditional vehicles. It uses the Inverter to do this job so no need to worry about replacing starters. 7. This car uses a timing chine and has no timing belt so you would never need to replace it. 8. This car has 0.25/6 of drag core efficiency which means it's literally more aerodynamic than a Bugatti Veyron (think about that) 9. It's got plastic under panels for aerodynamics but this also protects the undercarriage from dirt, dust so it's less likely to rust in areas where there is salt or snow (I installed a cat shield as well on mine) 10. Driving a Prius can be more interesting than driving a sports car (trust me I owned one) It's like playing a video game... I try to stay as much as possible on the battery power at slow speeds then when the engine kicks in I maintain the throttle above the 50mpg bar on the screen. I coast when possible on downhills and start breaking from a distance before coming to a stop to generate as much charge for the battery. 11. Lastly, you can get up to 50-55MPG if you drive on ECO mode plus it only has a 9 gallon tank so you don't pay much at the pump either (I travelled from NYC to Canada in just one tank and I remember paying 22-25USD (I was shocked myself lol)… So there you go... be smart and buy a Toyota/Lexus Hybrid as your next vehicle. stay safe out there!
Just bought a 2015 PLUG IN, but the car didn't cone with a charger, do you know where I could find a charger for around the 300$ the dealer told me they were worth?
I have the 2012 prius with the half leather interior. I already drove 200.000 km with it. Didn’t have any problems with the car. Is it boring? O yes! Is it good? Yes!
Even with the screen, it's pretty much dated now. I had one, but some of the buttons didn't work right, so I just upgraded to an aftermarket stereo with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. The hardest thing was retaining the factory backup camera.
2010 Prius owner. 154,000 miles. ONE brake change, ONE battery change… that’s IT. (Regular battery, NOT the hybrid ones)
STILL gets close to 50 MPG!!

People always hate on these cars but I actually like it
Yeah, they're fun to meme on, but as a daily commuter, my god are they perfect. The car actively tries to encourage you to drive efficiently XD

Should have mot covered the air vent on the edge of the back seat
picking up my 2010 Prius in a few days! managed to find one with 110,000 kilometers :)
You’ll enjoy the gas mileage!
Milton Miles Did you had any issues? Any major repair?
Awesome mileage vehicle
Just bought one for 8,000 with 148k miles in very good condition both mechanically and cosmetically. Did I get ripped off?
I bought one last year for about $7k with 168k miles on it. I was wondering the same thing since used car prices just started rising back then.
It kinda sucks that specific model has no screen on it

he sounds like Joe from family guy
You’re funny.
