    3rd Gens are better looking outside than the 4th Gens. What Toyota should have done was keep the exterior on the 3rd gen into the 4th and just added the 4th Gen interior

      Agree! I have the 2012 hatchback model 5 with the nice rims and I tinted the windows. I know people won’t believe me, but I’ve actually gotten compliments on the looks of the car. Lol Could be they were just surprised that a Prius could look good at all.

  • @smoothvelvetsinger

    The 3rd generation Prius looks awesome. And it's the most sensible choice for intelligent people. Not just fuel efficient, but basically the most reliable vehicle on the market.

    • @no_handle_required
      @no_handle_required 4 года назад +3

      So anybody that doesn't drive the prius isn't intelligent?

    • @DominicI1
      @DominicI1 3 года назад +2

      @@no_handle_required Reading "A Brief History of Time" is by Stephen Hawking is something a lot of intelligent people choose to read. Does that seriously mean that any person who doesn't read the book is not intelligent? What they were talking about is intelligent people would probably choose this car and overlook whatever ugliness and stereotypes are behind it because of the low drag coefficient, high reliability, low price, and extremely good milage. Nothing in their comment stated that anyone who doesn't drive a Prius isn't intelligent. There are also some conditions where a Prius might not be an intelligent choice. Such as for people like me who live bordering Canada. A Prius in my area wouldn't be able to take the snow, and during the winter only 4 wheel and all-wheel-drive vehicles are able to manage. Anything with 15'' wheels like most of the Prius models would be a complete joke in even just a measly 4'' of snow!

    • @DominicI1
      @DominicI1 3 года назад

      @Sue Ellen McGoey Good point. I know the 2nd gen Prius's last forever (not literally). Got a 2008 Prius with 278,000 miles on it and still counting. Can't speak for the 3rd gen though. I heard that the 2010 3rd gen has the most issues, with the 2012 being one of the most reliable of the generation. That's about it.

    • @devoidbmx1
      @devoidbmx1 2 года назад

      I live in Canada well north of the border line where it gets very cold. The Prius is a great choice for a cold place. You do get worse fuel economy in the cold but so does every other vehicle. Prius does great in snow/ice with dedicated winter tires.

    • @Nathan_Jay
      @Nathan_Jay 2 года назад +4

      @@DominicI1 common misconception. 2010, while being the first year, still was very reliable. The only notable issues on the 3rd gen are the head gasket & EGR system, which was a concern on all model years of the 3rd gen. If you get the EGR system cleaned every 80K miles, the head gasket shouldn't go boom. If you don't clean it, you risk blowing the VERY weak OEM head gasket by 150K miles. You can mitigate this by replacing the head gasket with a Fel-Pro head gasket (which is actually designed properly), and just clean the EGR system every 80K miles. The car will run virtually forever with those two items.

    I could not care any less how it looks. I care about fuel efficiency, practicality, reliability, longevity, and comfort. I have a 2010. My wife drives a 2015 Prius v. My son drives a Lexus 300h. His twin drives a 2009 Prius. There are three other Toyota hybrid models in the family... None of us bought them for looks. We bought them because cars are holes in the road we throw money into, so we want to throw the least amount of cash in those holes as we can.

      @@ricardo19851 reason I am sold on Prius is to car camp, maybe even live in car for a while -the fact that you can run AC and Heat off electric engine while parked is amazing!!! Apparently, the gas engine may kick in 20-30 seconds during the night. Other cars/vans to regulate inside require more elaborate setups with solar panels, extra bay batteries and higher capacity inverters to run fans, etc.
      I know how hot it gets inside a car in Florida in summer (and Las Vegas), a USB fan doesn’t seem like it would cut it; especially when you can run the AC, and it burns less than a half gallon of gasoline.

    Prius owners must do lots of city-driving to get the maximum benefit out of the hybrid system. If you don't drive a lot, an even at that mostly go on the highways, the hybrid is not for you. You will find more value in a conventional-gasoline car like the Yaris iA which can get 36-48 mpg in the city (depending on traffic), and 40-44 mpg on the highway going 73-75 mph (Texas highways)

    I'm not a prius fan or lover buy this 3rd gen is nice it's usally used as taxis but great for family car and relible hybrid car this is the last car I would get being particularly Eletric and I would have this if I do food delivery plus use for regular usage but also have a second car somthimg like bmw e46 or older merc just for the engines, these prius are good for efficency im not into these increment stuff too much, I hate these full EV cars and just hideous looking things plus no engine no car, and nor I don't like new prius too this is the last one that looked OK as I said great car I've seen these go over 250k miles, but it's not my main car that I would dream of having as I said I'm not eco person who thinks green every time as I know the reality nothing is green not even fully EVs cars they also use lithium batteries and casuse much more damage, and then new cars are cost cutting which means quality is gone down.
