The 3 is my first headset and experience with VR so I don't have anything to compare it against. I haven't run any games on it natively since I have a 2080 Super in my PC so I can't speak for the processor either. That being said... The headset has some quirks and sometimes buggy behavior but overall I think it's an excellent investment. I use mine mainly for fitness and playing Synthriders but other games have been fun and interesting. I don't think VR really NEEDS super advanced displays because as Nintendo has shown, graphic fidelity doesn't drive sales. Good games do. It's very easy to ignore jagged edges or bad textures because being IN the space is more important than looking perfectly realistic. I wouldn't wait another year + if I was currently shopping for one. Especially since there might be Black Friday deals soon. It's also impossible to know if the new features of the 4 would be worth the wait or worth upgrading for. Ultimately I think movement and lack of any infinity treadmill options is the biggest downfall to VR immersion.
But the new screens are so much clearer and crisper especially with the pancake lenses instead of those old outdated fresnel lenses…Worthwhile trade off IMO and the contrast ratio is pretty damn good for an LCD. Just got my Quest 3 and am very happy with it.
I guess I’ll just get the Quest 3 then as the 4 is likely to be at least a year away.

There's no way I'm downgrading to an lcd screen after the oled of quest 1
