This was the first time I'd gotten to see Metallica live. It's fair to say they didn't disappoint. Standing in 37 degree Celsius Australian heat all afternoon was all worth it. I've never smelt worse than after this mosh pit!
They put on a show from hell. James was so on this concert, he nailed everything. He is arguably the best front man of all time🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
The 85,000 crowd was huge. I was lucky enough to get a pick too, still have it. Fuck yeah.

Same for me but I'm Adelaide. Had never seen metallica before until this day. I remember waiting at the one stage trying to survive the heat ahaha, well and truly worth it though! A front row experience I'll never forget! 😁🤘

This was the most surreal part of the concert. It kinda comes across, but as melodic as the crowd singing is, fuck it was loud. I was a few meters from the barrier directly in line with Lars. Well, when the mosh pit wasn't surging side to side haha
@music is timeless They have only played this song 18 times ever! And this show is the only time they have ever played it outside of the black album anniversary concerts.

@jonny j being at this show, i loved it. Throughout the show my dad and I agreed he was definitely enjoying himself. Made the show so much better. I loved it just as much as James did as it was my first time getting to see them!

My wife and I were at that show. By far the best Sound Wave line up ever. Metallica fucking owned that stage. It is still to this day the best gig I've ever been to.

I've seen a LOT of Metallica live performances over the years, and this might be the best of them. From the setlist to the sound setup, it's fucking perfect. What a fucking show this must have been to be at.
It was...still remember how happy James was. And experiencing that crowd divide from my friend of misery was just insannneee. :’(

My mug on the big screen for a solid 10 seconds during MFOM , I'll never forget that. Sweltering hot day, I lined up from early morning to get the barrier in searing heat, no bathroom break for about 10 hours. I don't think the bladder could go through that again. Can't wait to watch this

It was just as hot at the Sydney show. I remember getting hosed down by the guards during Anthrax's performance. I think that was the best metal festival line up that Australia will ever see.

I was here, I watched half this and half The Offspring as they were my childhood band growing up. I remember Dexter was pissed cause he didn't want to play at the same time as metallica as he wanted to watch them, he called us insane and incredible for watching them instead hahahaha. Incredible to look back on! There were atleast 100 thousand people at the festival it was insane. Man I miss Soundwave..
Whoever scheduled that running order should be fired. Both are amazing bands and having lots of mutual fans.
ah man i remember that. I had already seen Metallica before sound wave and wanted to see offspring as i haven't seen them live. They were also one of the anthems of my highschool life. Linkin Park was next to the Metallica stage and we had a head start to get right at front of Metallica stage before they started so my partner and i did that. Still haven't seen Offspring live :-(

This was my first of two Soundwaves. This was such a brilliant day. I got to see SOOOOOOOOOO many awesome bands. Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica, APC, Stonesour, Linkin Park....it was one of the most amazing days EVER!!!

Then just before Creeping Death, the crowd is doing the Oh ee Oh chant from Frayed Ends of Sanity, but that part as we all know really comes from the Wizard of Oz, and they're in Australia aka the land of (Aus) OZ, so I wonder why Metallica didn't play that song.

I will never forget the time my kids and I got to see you guys live, were from San Diego, and well you know . . . cut to 2004 and we were living in Houston and got to FINALLY see you live!!! As the lights went out right as you guys were taking the stage, my ass started crying bc I was flooded with emotions "IM FINALLY GOING TO SEE METALLICA LIVE", cripes if I'm tearing up just remembering that feeling all over again. My kids were teen's and they saw I was crying but never once did they make fun of me, they KNEW what it meant to me to see METALLICA LIVE, after the show these guys stayed for damn near over an hour thanking the fans for being there----NO METALLICA THANK YOU FOR YOUR MUSIC!!! 🖤🖤🤘🤘💯💯🤟🤟
