Picked up Scratches Happen paint for some chips for my Pearl 34K White Mazda 3. This video gives me reassurance that it’s a great product, and tips on how to apply it properly.
The fine balance I'm struggling with is when to apply the clear to make sure the repair doesn't end up higher than the surrounding paint. The clear is thick so I'm finding I have to apply the clear before it comes close to looking even with just the touch up paint
It is slightly higher. When you put it on it looks much higher than the end result. After it settles it looks more even however it is slightly higher for myself because I go a little outside the repair area to seal it in. But one coat of base is best. Just do your best to get it in one go. You can always wipe it off and go again. It’s not bad after you figure out the the first spot.
@@JordanMoree, Have you ever compounded or polished afterwards? I'm just super worried about accidently building up too much clear and not being able to fix it. Ending up with a larger jacked up area then when I started. Thanks for responding. It's much appreciated
Yes I did do that on my ST with the duplicator paint pen. I built it up very high not on purpose. I have a video on it. But I used fine grit sand paper and polish to even it out. Same thing still a little higher than the other area around it. It’s never going to be perfect just naked to the eyes from a small distance.
@@JordanMoree, Yeah bro I quicky learned it's a rabbit hole lol. You need to call it good and walk away. There is no getting it perfect unless it's being professionally re-sprayed. I appreciate the replys. I'll check out your other videos. Something kicked up on the highway this week and last a nasty 2 inch gouge on the side of my FK8. I'm losing sleep at night lol. I practiced with some small rock chips today not this is nasty scratch. Thru the paint and clear. Not sure I'm even going to try. I need some more quotes. I got one from a mobile scratch guy and he said $475 which sounds really high for a scratch repair. Maybe to paint the whole door that price would be understandable
@@thinkforyourself5672did you end up getting it professionally fixed? If so did theirs look "perfect"? I don't think even a pro can get "perfect" on a touch up. They need to repaint the whole panel no?
@@tstokemb it’s held up perfect. Still have the car and touch up areas look just like they did when I did it. I’ve actually polished and ceramic coated over everything since.
Per the website and their printable instructions, wait at least 30 min after application but no more than 24 hours. The paint is somewhat porous and the following layers won’t adhere if it’s completely dry.
How do you get a hold of scratches happen, my paint showed up dry and I can’t get a hold of anyone, phone calls (4) emails (3) support email (3), can’t even leave a review 👎
55 degrees is hard to judge. 75-80 degrees I’d say 30 minutes. I’d let it sit for at least an hour if it’s that cold. You could always do a test spot on something and see how long it takes.
"Alright next I'm just going to go ahead and install a swimming pool before I get to the paint touch-up you're here for."
😜 thanks for watching

It’s watery garbage I regret buying this garbage
I feel like white is the easiest to do though. Good job!

Thank you for the review!
My package came with a primer to go under the paint, then paint and clear coat'😎😎
About to try this kit today. Fingers crossed.
Great video and nice evo 😊 just ordered a kit for my 2018 WRX
How has it held up if you still have the car?

So, how long do you wait for base coat to dry before you apply clear coat?

Do you have to put clear coat first then actual paint??
No base coat (paint), then clear coat

They are a crap company my paint was watered down and useless
Looks good
Did you put second coat and clear coat over 1st coat immediately or give drying time?
Definitely let it dry
@@JordanMoree how long? 30 minutes? Will be doing this outdoors in 55 degree temp today. Thanks for such a fast response.
