    I have a Harley Fatboy and like an idiot a walked it back into the front bumper of my daughter's car in the driveway just not paying attention and did significant damage that was gonna take some body work to fix. After getting a can of paint from a seller on ebay that was way off on the color I found Scratches Happen online and they had a bunch of positive reviews, but what caught my eye first was how much cheaper they were than everyone else. So I took the rear fender off my bike did the body work the best I can which was good enough and had them send me two cans of aerosol paint and a can of clearcoat. It was an absolute perfect match. With most other sellers you have to find out your manufacturer's paint code and provide it but with their system all you have to do is enter your year, make and model and they give you all the choices of color for that vehicle to choose from it was super easy. I just ordered a small bottle to fix a few small scratches I made putting the fender back on I should've got someone to help me it was a two man job, unless you have four hands. So I came here to see if they are as accurate with their liquid paints. Nice video thanks for posting.

      Great comments and follow up. Glad it worked out. 💪 yes. If I had 4 hands 🙌 🙌 It would make so many jobs easier.

      Isn't that the truth. Well I received my little bottle the other day and just like the rattle cans it is a perfect match.
      And hey bro I am no expert this was my very first time doing body work or paint but if you wanted to touch up your fender a little, (or a lot) better you can get the spray and tape the area off about an inch or so all the way around the scratch, scuff up the taped off area with some 600 or 800 grit and spray it with color then spray it with clear. There are many videos out there by professionals that helped me a great deal. Good luck if you go for it.

      @@scottmccandless8111I just can't do my most trusted methods with water based paints. At least I don't think I can. I rely on the solvent basecoat to melt into the existing... especially if I burned through the clear coat and have to deal with a halo effect

      @@Rabbit.760 You'd be surprised. I had no idea what I was doing I just knew I had to do something couldn't leave it all smashed in like it was so either pay someone or try to fix it myself and figured if I screw it up I'm no worse off still have to pay someone. So for less than 100 bucks in materials incl. paint, primer, clearcoat, spot filler and sandpaper I'm satisfied with the results.
      It's not perfect I did not wet sand after clearcoat I was too scared so I just hand rubbed with buffing compound then polishing compound got out a lot of the orange peel not all but I'm happy with it. The most amazing thing was the color match which is what this posting is really all about, it was spot on. And they sell color match primer too which I wish I had known that. I already had it fixed and sprayed with primer from the local parts store when I ordered the rattle cans of paint and clear from ScratchesHappen.com. I wish I could upload a couple photos a before and an after to show how perfect the color match is. Maybe I'll do a little video of my own idk but take my word for it I did my whole rear fender not just a small area I didn't trust I could blend it and make it look right never having done it before.

    If any area or small chip is rusted, you can try a Permatex product that arrests the rust. Good stuff. And we were happy with the Scratches Happen products too 👍

    Make sure any rust is removed before you apply as well.

    Thanks for sharing this. Does the paint seem like it will last and not dry out in the jar for future applications?

      Yes it does! Honestly, I have not done many touch ups (clear from my shaky hands) This one was BAD. Being on a crease and deep, I knew it wouldn't be perfect. I am happy with the product, matching, and it does hide the "boo boo" that was left from the shopping cart (I am thinking that was what did it). I have washed it a few times and run it through the auto wash and it seems like it will last the life of the car. Would recommend it and will buy again for other cars.

    Does paint match

    • @TheHappyHootie
      @TheHappyHootie  10 месяцев назад +2

      In my case I found it to be an acceptable match. With tri-coat paint and doing multiple layers it is impossible to get an “exact” match, but I found their product to be of good quality and color matching was as on point as I could expect. It just takes patience and a steady hand. Practice obviously helps… and the complexity of the damage to be corrected. Being as this damage was on a crease, different angles, different depths and part of it in a vertical surface… I would say it was a harder correction than …. Let’s say …. A chip in your paint on the hood? Hope this helps.

    Is Primer necessary? Or can you get away with just using the paint and clear coat?

    • @TheHappyHootie
      @TheHappyHootie  6 месяцев назад +1

      It comes with primer , paint and clear coat in the kits. If you have a difficult paint to match it is absolutely necessary to get the base layer down. Everything you need comes in this kit.

      Would this product be a good idea to touch up on some rust spots on my hood over the years? If you rock chips in fact. Got an 05 civic & don’t really feel the need for full paint job as most car still has OEM paint on it. Also, got few spots chipped/chipping from my spoiler in back. Would this product touch them up as well? Thanks

      @@eligreg99 I got rust spots on my inner trunk well & few chips on spoiler with the hood. Would this hold up the same as..let's say a restoleum spray can with the anti rust properties? Thanks cause I'm not trying to spend $700 for a maaco job for a 20yr old honda civic with 243k miles :)

    • @eligreg99

      @@dbzownz12345 If it has rust you obviously have to clean it first with some alcohol and then use primer to cover the rust spots but yes this should hold up. Just do not forget to put on a clear coat I don’t think people emphasize this enough. It won’t stay without it or the primer if the scratch is down to the metal.
