Used to love watching these guys as kids on the prairies. Every spring they would be out walking around.
They're a fun bird to see, especially when they get flushed out and you had no idea they were there.
Hi Donna 👋 !! Thanks for this visit down at the marsh, very good 👀 !! Very good footage. Great to see the characteristics behaviour of the Killdeer, so interesting 🐦 ✅ !! Cheers, Don 🙋♂️ !!
Thank you so much, Don! I always enjoy spotting these birds in open areas.
Cool footage. Yeah those Killdeer hide their nest really well. We have them here too. Fun to see their wounded diversions. Pretty cool video, Donna. Have a great day.
It is kind of cute and sometimes they can be pretty convincing. Thanks so much for watching!
That's so interesting that she pretends to have a broken wing , very clever ! This was so beautiful and I loved all the sounds and panoramic view. So lovely :) ~ Anna
Thank you so much, Anna! It was a lovely quieter area compared with the noise and bustle of activity by the lake.
Great sharing my friend 🧡
_Congratulations, Friend!_
I Loved it!❤️❤️
*I'll be back soon* 💚💛
Thank you for share it!💙💙
Thank you! Cheers!
so beautiful
Донна, здравствуйте.
Птица 🐦 таким образом уводит опасность от своих детей..
Красивый момент 👍
Thank you so much!
Dear ur reporting is best . I love it ❤.I feel ur sweet voice. Because am a tourist guide on mangrove forest and crocodile in India I gave pleasure to many white tourist in my carrier. Lots ofove from shubhashis from India
Thanks a lot 😊 Hope to see you again!
How did you spot the first one hiding in the grass? These birds are cool, and clever. Never seen one before!
Honestly just luck! I think I was trying to spot birds in among the cattails and just happened to notice her ducking in the shorter grasses. They are fun to watch.
Lk done 💕. Great upload 😘
What a pretty spot
Thank you!
Nice😍😍😍
Beautiful birds thanks for sharing sister God bless you
Thank you, sister! You too!
Awesome presentation, Donna👍
Have a wonderful weekend, Friend 🥰
See you again! Happy valentines!
Very beautiful and interesting observation! Their behaviour is fascinating!
Great observation of the killdeer's nesting behavior Donna. The nests are notoriously hard to spot (for good reason) and their broken wing display is a fascinating strategy. Birds are amazing... Best regards, Cathy
I agree, it's an amazing tactic even though their nests are already hard to find. Thank you so much, Cathy!
Espero que regrese la primavera, gracias por compartir este interesante video.👍
very nice story of a small bird...the subtitles are awesome to explain the entire story...thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead
Thank you so much! And glad to know the subtitles helped.
Never knew that Donna. Great trick! Beautiful marsh too.
Thank you so much, Dave & Kathy! So glad to catch some things that are new to people. I think this will be the last clip from Lake Manitoba for a while. It was nice to use the footage up finally. Have a great weekend!
Really interesting that they use this display to protect their nest! We have them in our area, but I have seen this before. We have seen how they run and stop, run and stop. If I see some again I’ll try to pay a little more attention. Thanks Donna! 👍👍☀️☀️
Hi Jennifer! It's so fun to observe the birds - someone compared it to using a remote control toy with how they run forward and stop! Very accurate description!
@@DonnaTaibossigai Yes, that’s a good comparison!!
Hello, Donna. Interesting observation. I have seen this myself, with the Little ringed plover.
Smart birds. Beautiful captured.
Best wishes for tomorrow.
Kind regards, Knut.
It's amazing how the same tactics are used by birds around the globe, but I guess that means it works well for them! Have a great day, Knut!
Killdeer Broken Wing Display and Returns to Nest.
The long-legged bird returned to its nest on foot instead of flying. I enjoyed watching it (*^^*)
Thank you so much! I quite enjoy spotting these birds and trying to find their nest. I was glad to find this one without disturbing the eggs.
Oh what a great display. I had not heard the name before- so i got curious and looked it up. It was an energetic bird to watch. Great capture Donna. 💖🇳🇿🙋♀🇳🇱
Thank you so much, Anita! It's a very neat bird.
Amazing Donna! You have a gift for narration and showing the beauty of all the wildlife you find. Loved the panoramic shot as well, what a magical place. And the nosies brought such a peaceful presence to the video!
Thank you so much Fredericke! It was a lovely morning getting to spot the different birds in the area. Hope all is well with your artistic challenges!
That was absolutely fascinating. What great tactics to deter others from finding her nest. A bit like in WWII when they turned around roadsigns in some parts of England to confuse the enemy if they managed to invade the country! Lovely footage, Donna 😊
Oh, I hadn't heard about that tactic of turning the signs around. Very cool to learn! Have a great day you two and Happy Valentine's Day!
They are such amazing birds! I love their fearlessness when they're protecting their nests. I watched one face down a bull once and drive it away from its nest!! That poor bull didn't know what trouble he'd gotten into, the Killdeer put him on the run!! Thanks for sharing Donna.
Wow, they really are brave! It's amazing how such small animals can be so protective. Thank you, Becca!
Great capture Donna. It always amazes me how Plovers and other types of birds nest on the ground with little cover
But they’re so beautiful. We have very similar species here
Hi Dave! It's amazing how the same behaviors are present in species around the world, but I guess that means it's a successful trick! I agree, it seems bold nesting in almost completely open areas but I guess it's easier to watch for enemies, too.
I wonder if they are trying to protect their nests from outside enemies by pretending to be injured. Not only the images, but also the birds' songs are beautifully recorded and pleasant. Thank you for the wonderful images.✨
Exactly right, Ramujiro! The birds draw away potential predators from their nests. Thank you for watching!
Such an amazing behaviour of bird, it's great you followed and spotted her nest too.
Thank you so much! It's always neat seeing these birds.
hello dona, This is the first time I know killdeer. I was surprised the way she performed broken wing display to lure you away from her nest
It's a very interesting tactic. Thank you for watching!
Thanks. You know how to make an interesting video. We have been trying to get a shot of a kingfisher 😂 not a chance he is just too quick 🙏👍
Kingfishers are so awesome, and yes, very quick! You might have to spot him/her when they're resting or preening.
That's such a brilliant use of deception! That's a clever bird 👏
I agree - it seems to work well for them. Thank you so much for dropping by!
👍Yes, Killdeer is clever! You are even more clever! I am so amazed at your knowledge and understanding of the behaviours of the bird. 💕🌺🍀🇨🇦
Thank you, Monica! Just years of reading books and watching programs about nature, and now I enjoy seeing all these behaviors in real life.
That is really smart of that beautiful bird, I love how they work super hard to protect their babies.
I agree, they really do put their life on the line for their young. Thank you for watching!
Killdeer used to make nests in our front yard all the time when I was a child. We had to be very careful to not run them over on accident while mowing the lawn.
That is so cool that they nested right in your yard! Thank you for watching!
Oh เป็นนกที่วิ่งเร็วมาก thanks for sharing 👍
That was remarkable to see. And it's a beautiful bird. ❤️
Thank you so much, Nicole! They are pretty striking birds with those neck stripes. Have a great day!
Fascinating. The habits will get her caught. Thanks for the take along
It could for sure! They have another display where they may actually charge at the predator which is even more likely to get her caught. Thank you for watching!
That was pretty cool 😀👍
Glad you liked it!
Oh wow I had no idea about this behavior. Good to know. Thank you for this
You are so welcome! It's amazing how birds have their tricks to help them survive.
A great video, dear Donna.
The nest is really well camouflaged.
I didn't know the bird before. Thank you.
Beautiful bird. Hope she recovered soon. Thank you for sharing, dear Donna. Have a blessed day. Wiseman.
Many thanks, Wiseman!
Hello sir ❤am from India
Sharp eyes Donna. Interesting footage of the bird going back to thier nest. Hope the injured wings will heal quick
Thank you! She's not actually injured - it's an act to encourage predators to follow her away from her nest.
Hi
Beautiful bird view. Enjoyed this so much. Thank you for sharing my friend.
It looks like a remote toy being operated by someone... So cute ...
