And now, cats and kittens, here at last to expand your gray matter is that young talent you all came to hear. Smack 'em together and make this a diggable planet for ... Ajax!
I'm getting a tattoo of the last two lines, "And if never to be seen again, you're in my air" in memory of my dad who died when I was a kid. This was his favorite show.
I think it's cute how Duckman immediately grabs Ajax when he thinks he's gonna jump even though he wouldn't be hurt from that height. Also, poor Ajax! He misses his mom and just wants to bond with his dad.
One subtle thing they do that really speaks to me emotionally is have Ajax only read the first two lines of the poem, stopping at “metal detector mornings,” and then cry before finishing. Later, the couple reads the whole poem, revealing the previously unread “and if never to be seen again, you’re in my air.” This show is very underrated.
I remember the original line of what said duck man said while walking into the school was "Bernice said that all the schools were safer now since all the kids have guns."
“Warm hugs straightened my ear muffs and got me through metal detector morning”- metal detector morning is mental detector. Ajax is feeling alone and isolated and can’t fully grasp or express his feeling and can only express them through poetry, but when he writes alone, all his thoughts are collected and makes more sense to duckman, who is the only person that was only once able to see his collected thoughts in poetry. He wants those metal detector mornings to be noticed before there is finally metal detected. Meaning that he wants to know that he’s loved by his father without having to set off metal detectors for it to be noticed. And this sets off a metal detector in duckmans brain and makes him realise that although something may not make sense when presented in front of him he realises the underlying issue is what makes him do these things. What made Ajex want to write poetry. Not all metal detectors come in tool boxes that indicate that there’s metal from viewing and can be seen and stopped, but the ones that we can’t see are hidden well, but expressed through words. But Ajax can’t express those words in person due to “metal detectors” going off and for it to alarm anyone. But duckman realised that one day those metal detectors may go off and he’ll be taken away from him and that will be the final call, so he finally takes him out and understands him and further realises his sons words should be told to others not by his son but by others going through the same situation to make us realised that at lot of people are going through the same thing they just need to know that they are loved

I’m so sorry about your dad dying. I can only hope you two had more great moments together than none. ❤️

I saw this Duckman chapter when I was 13 and this Ajax poetry blow my mind now I am 36 and I think is a piece of art.
No joke the sentiment behind his work is beautiful tho

Poetry does not need to rhyme. It just needs to be heard.
The best kind of English teachers are completely insane.

Now THAT'S comedy!
I'm pretty sure that was in a different episode because I recently rewatched the show over and recognized that line.
If I'm not wrong that's probably Everett Peck reading the letter at the end, it looks like his caricature.
This is the closest thing to AMSR that I will ever admit to liking.
I always think of metal detector mornings whenever I have to go to TSA

I like it Ajax! Bravo!

A show that was actually well written, fun and thought provoking?

How can you hate Bobby?
Dale isn’t stupid he makes poor decisions due his paranoia but he’s not stupid
Bad take on King of the Hill. Bobby isn't stupid at all, he's naive. He's a kid. Dale is a case of paranoia, not stupidity.
I love Dale Gribble.
