Taking the punk stance on the stage with the banjo too. One of the best songs/recordings I have ever seen. You never stop to amaze me Tim Eriksen. What a song!
I took that same ferry (2:45am from Pembroke Dock in Wales, to Wexford in Ireland) many years ago. But I can't sing like Tim Eriksen can. No one can, really. He has one of the all-time great voices.
Bravo gentlemen! Beautiful ensemble, not ego driven, IMO. Mr. Eriksen sings with a constant restrained passion. He doesn't "do" anything to the music, it just flows through him.
*~*~* three stars my little whispering to me with those 3 stars your love you know strikes me with a pain that felt so good I promise love never will go.
Really enjoyed this, probably one of those chance meeting kind of things. I would like a version without the cit-chat at the start so I can enjoy it on loop but the acoustics in this building are too awesome.I feel like there is a bit of discipline going into holding back and keeping it on point nice one.
I'm trying to work out the verses to this. anybody have what I'm missing (or corrections if I'm not hearing something right)? You'll see the judge descending on that great day You'll see the dead arising on that great day You'll hear the saints rejoicing on that great day Oh the stars will be a-folding on that great day Oh the earth will be a-bleeding on that great day The seas will be a-rolling (boiling?) on that great day Oh sisters, are you ready for that great day? Oh brothers, are you ready for that great day? May we all sing together on that great day Let the circle be unbroken on that great day
I suspect he's singing "the MOON will be a-bleeding" not "the earth." There's a famous verse in the bible about how the moon will turn to blood before the "great and terrible day of the Lord."
I know this was four years ago, but as someone who's obsessed with Tim's rendition of this song, I've compiled the verses. Note that since every couplet ends with "on that great day" I'm going to omit that portion from all but the first line. Tim notes in a different video that this song (and others like it) would often be improvised, so there is no definitive set of lyrics, and his own versions have varied over the years, in wording, verses, order, etc. As such, I'll add parentheses around verses that aren't included in this version: You'll see the judge descending on that great day You'll see the dead a-rising... You'll hear the saints rejoicing... (You'll hear poor sinners crying...) Oh the stars will be a-falling... Oh the moon will(/shall) be a-bleeding... The seas will be a-boiling... (We'll know as we all know...) Oh sisters, are you ready *for* that great day? Oh brothers, are you ready *for* that great day? (Alternate: Oh sisters/brothers, do get ready...) We'll love as we are loved...) May we all sing together... Let the circle be unbroken... (Alternate: Oh/Lord may the circle be unbroken...)
this is what I hear: You'll see the judge descending on that great day You'll see the dead arising on that great day You'll hear the saints rejoicing on that great day Oh the stars will be a-folding on that great day Oh the earth will be a-bleeding on that great day The seas will be a-rolling (boiling?) on that great day Oh sisters, are you ready for that great day? I return here every so often to remind myself of true fantastic music
1:53 is where the song proper starts, after the charming spoken intro, for those obsessed with listening again and again.
Spiritual ecstacy in a song! Well sung and played, couldnt be better, raw and authentic🙏

You'll see the judge descending on that great day
You'll see the dead arising on that great day

Oh brothers, are you ready for that great day?

Let the circle be unbroken on that great day
It's "stars will be a-falling..."
and "the seas will be a-boiling..."
Otherwise correct.

Does anyone have lyrics/chords to this version? it's awesome, but I can't hear everything and can't find it elsewhere on the internet
this is what I hear:
You'll see the judge descending on that great day
You'll see the dead arising on that great day
You'll hear the saints rejoicing on that great day

Aren't some of these lyrics in the Sacred Harp?
+justforever96 I don't think so. There are a couple tunes in the Sacred Harp with words from other spirituals, though.
sorry 'to'
Creepiest gospel song ive ever heard lol. Its like the tune of the pied piper
