    Maybe an idea would to make dividing walls between the 3 burning that can be slid in and out..That way when you only have a small part, you are only using a third of the space to heat up..Just need to come up with a way to shut off 2 of the burners when you only need one..

    • @RegulerShowTV
      @RegulerShowTV Год назад +1

      just acquire a large microwave oven to use with smaller parts

      @regulershowtv and put metal parts in a microwave?😅

    • @Cummintakeit

      You’d only wire the one burner, and place the thermocouple in that section. It’s a good idea to use way less energy for small parts

    Such a rare bird to be so down to earth and I thank you for it. Refreshing to see. Thanks also for not being afraid of your shadow as everyone else is. Nothing about "don't do this at home" or I'm not a professional or bs like words being afraid of liability or generally chick talk by grown ass men.

    Best DIY cure oven video I've seen yet. I need something bigger than what I already have for powder coating and would like it to double for prepreg carbon fiber curing. With just a few tweaks I can accomplish exactly what I need for a fraction of the price of all the turn-key ovens I've found that just aren't big enough. Thank you! Your design is large enough for me to cure 4 or 5 carbon fiber guitars at a time and cost-effective enough to be worth the build time.

      hello can you guys send me a drawling of the wiring diagram on your powder coat oven cause I’ve bought the same thing I like your build and coping it at my house but need to know how to wire it I don’t know where them black wires run to or where the white wires are going behind that contractor looks like they are grounded but not sure but I have most the wiring figured out just the black wires and white ones

    I had watched a couple of videos of custom builds that were about the size of a dorm refrigerator. I need bigger than that and thought about using metal studs and galvanized metal. I thought I was the smartest guy around and then clicked on your video and found out that I was the second smartest because you beat me to it. Thanks for the video and the info. Subscribe and thumbs up from me.

    Awesome video! Using two house type ovens now due to cost of store bought PC Oven... I'll build one of these now, use parts from the other two, toss them when done and have a permanent oven in their space! Thanks for the video!

  • @leonardwilson980
    @leonardwilson980 2 года назад +7

    You need to add some radiant shields over your elements, just some sheet metal with 3/4 -1' holes, hanging in front of the elements. You may not have had any problems yet but it will if you get some parts to close to the elements. It will actually burn the coating or discolor it . Don't ask me how I know. LOL
    I have two ovens in my shop 7' X 7' X 7' inside measurements and a 4'6" T x 3' W x 32" D inside. I heat mine with LP, I built my own burners and controls myself. The big oven, I can bring from 32* up to 400* in about 9-10 minutes and the little oven about 15 minutes (different type of burner. I don't need to dump 500,000 btu of heat in it.)

      Love the innovation
      I had a small shop in 89 built and installed security doors
      Wet sprayed first then fast dry acrylic
      Then high solids bake
      Finally got into powder
      Lots of work but well worth it
      Had two lines one automated recycled the powder great savings paid for the equipment over time
      one binks 10 x10 sprayed to waste Adding a Fremont phosphate wash was great for pretreatment
      sadly lost it all during the 2008 2011
      Economic meltdown
      Think I’m going to build my own this time
      Thanks for your post

      yeah, definitely! Because that is how an actually oven also is designed! Good observation! The heat may be cutting off before the lower part of the oven reaches the necessary heat for the Powder Coat on the lower part of a frame like they described having done in this thing!

    The coating on galvanized sheet metal starts to brake down and give off toxic zinc fumes at temperatures above 395F, even if the entire oven isn't set to this temperature the areas near the heating elements will certainly be at least that hot.

    beautiful job, gets the job done. Galvanized..?..I personally think its ok, the interior doesn't vent out and the exterior is insulated from reaching above 480. Having said that I woould have used regular sheet metal and used a high heat paint to insulate and protect, but respects for getting it done. the little guy usually doesnt go any where because Abraham Lincoln says we cant:) Wondering if 240v might have been better to drop the emparage..

    Very nice build and well thought out and executed!.......as far as the burner elements, it looks like just 3 household oven elements? Can you just purchase like 3 of the same model replacement elements for a household oven and also what wattage specification elements do you recommend for a box similar in size to what you all have built?? I'm looking to mainly powder automotive parts with probably wheels and subframes/chassis parts being the largest items I will need to put in an oven so that being said a household oven was what I was originally starting to look into putting in my garage and just adding an extra 240V box on its own breaker in my panel and wiring the identical pronged plug that my plasma and welder takes that way I don't have to run it on the compressor outlet and the oven will only need plugged in when in use and all other times will be free for my plasma and welder for fabrication and all of that equipment is in the area I'm going to free up under one of my larger fab benches and build the oven to fit snug under that bench that way if I'm doing something heavy such as an engine block or similar weight I can powder it on a wheeled cart and then roll it right into the oven on the cart and when done wheel it right out instead of lifting heavy items up a few feet into the oven. I want to thank you guys for such a great informative video on your build and also thank you in advance for the information on my questions in the beginning of my comment here! I look forward to chatting with you all soon and until then take care and powder on!!

    • @CGT80
      @CGT80 2 года назад

      I bought a replacement element on amazon and bent it around a cylinder to make my automated bullet casting machine. Compare the size of a household oven to the volume of your oven. It would be easy to add another element later or to unhook one if you are wrong. A few years back it was $17 for the element I bought. You should do a 50 amp circuit and #6 copper wire depending on the length of run for the 6-50 receptacle. Since an oven runs for long periods of time, you want to have good size wire. Plasma cutters and welders can run on smaller wire for shorter periods, but I finally upgraded when I remodeled my garage.

    One question….. you said it runs on 220/240…. So it’s plugged into a 50amp welding plug? (Like a 6-50R?). Is that all you need in terms of circuit to run the oven.

    Just wondering what the transformer is needed for. Use a 4 wire plug like for an electric cook stove and you have a neutral to get your 110v

      Welders use nema 6-50 which does not have the neutral. Old codes let the 120v devices use the ground but that is dangerous but it works...........so I'm told :) I thought many PIDs ran between something like 100v and 277v for the input, but maybe theirs is 120v. I used one that works on 240v and a single oven element wrapped around a steel cylinder for an automated bullet casting machine that I built. My tig welder has a smaller 110v transformer like theirs, since it was made to run on 208-480v single phase.....I think it was built around 1965.
