I think we are all in shock at the quality of the Evernight book!! It is stunning! I’ve just received my Evernight and Afterlight box and the Evernight box is SO much better than any Afterlight box I’ve had! I’m also so excited to see what Evernight release in October!!

Illumicrate really smashed the first book! The silver, the quality edges, the endpapers and THE FOILING ✨ honestly so good, the attention to detail. It all works so well. Illumicrate really are giving other book subs a run for their money. I just hope they can keep up with this standard across the board. Like others have said, Afterlight has taken a long time to come into its own. We’re starting to see redesigned covers and beautiful edges though so I’m hoping this is now getting the love it deserves too (the items maybe take up some budget). It’ll be a good end of the year/2024 if IC produce books like this across all 3 subs!❤

I agree that the afterlight box has been really underwhelming! I think their pick of authors like Ali Hazelwood is the only thing keeping me subscribed at the moment. I don’t think any of the items haven’t wowed me either. The only thing I’ve used is the pink bullet journal/notepad that we got months ago 😂

The symbol embossed on the cover is the Helm of Awe, which is from Norse mythology. I currently have a monthly horror subscription with the Abominable Book Club, which I have been with for 2 years. The books are just standard hardbacks or paperbacks, but are often signed and you get extra stuff too!

I got the twister retreat subscription horror box for pretty much the same reason, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. I have to omit I’ve only read one book that I’ve gotten so far from the box but I did really enjoy it. It’s just hard to pick up a horror book when I have so many sci-fi and fantasy books on my shelf.

I’ve only got afterlight and they only started stepping up their customisations with the May and July books but everything else before that was quite plain so exciting to see evernight is getting the full treatment straight away!

I’m somewhat disappointed I didn’t get this one when I got the waitlist email but I’m generally not a horror reader. However, I’m a little annoyed with Illumicrate for how much they done for Evernight compared to what they are doing with Afterlight. The customisations for Afterlight are very limited compared to this, and it’s sad that the company seems not to value Afterlight as much (plus the items this month were pretty rubbish).
I've had so many comments about Afterlight this month but I can't find any unboxing videos, are you able to link me to one so I can have a look to compare?

I start to think that they take the money from the regular/ya boxes and they put more budget in these book only boxes, like this and the adult box of fairyloot. Really. This book have much more quality than the monthly box was, and fairyloot every time present a ver very good and stuning adult book, the ya monthly box become meh 😅 or I see too much in this?
@@Wanderness Maybe, but then at least they should make sure the book’s quality is remain the same. I’m not sure what the ya book only subscribers will feel when they get the july book, with the cheap dustjacket. And some of them pay even more based on where they live
Yeah I hated that box but surprisingly got a lot of comments saying I was too negative, even though I said the decline in quality was understandable due to increased production costs, so I think mostly people are OK with it
