I love Yugioh abridged quote. Yami: "You know Weevil, it's real a shame that yugi isnt here right now. Because if he was here.... He would've stopped me from doing THIS."
I'd always figured Yami/Atem can pretty much stack his deck with ancient magic if you piss him off enough. So he was possibly just forcing monster draws (likely after he won, Atem has a thing about his victory's being fair and poetic since the manga) to keep hitting him?
@@ryanjones_rheios I mean, it was revealed that the power of the Millennium Puzzle is the ability to literally bend luck to your will to gain the advantage in games. In this instance, it could be said he not only did that to draw the exact number of monsters in his deck that he needed in a row, but to exceed that number just as an additional "FUCK YOU".
The fun part is due to Yami's secret power to topdeck the cards he needs most, especially under duress, Yugi would have kept drawing monster cards until he had no more left in his deck.
@@evanroldan4270 If Joey were anywhere nearby, sure, but he was dueling in a different place entirely at that time. Maybe Téa would have a deck on her.
@@Animus_Altia imagine Atem asking Tea, Atem : have you brought your deck with you? Tea: Why Yugi? Atem: Can I borrow It? Tea: Sure, here you go Atem: Doro, monsuta cardo!
Fun fact, once Yami reduces weevils life points down to 0. He draws 5 monster cards, which could be symbolic of the 5 pieces of exodia that weevil threw overboard and think about the fact they were all monsters.
Right after Wevill and Rex get accepted into the fold of the Orichalcos, their is a scene where they are brought into a card warehouse and are told to "power-up their decks". My guess is that he simply grabbed another copy of Insect Queen there
I love the implication of Atem warning Weevil about the overpass, because it makes me imagine an alternate duel where he doesn't and Weevil just gets murdered on top of this train
5:46 actually, When Weevil and Rex we're accepted into the orichalcos cult they were giving free cards of every rarity to build a new deck. So technically even if he only had one he could have gotten another.
Not just accepted, they went there with the intent of “getting rare cards” and giggling to themselves that they’re gonna be supervillains of the highest caliber.
Draconic Butterfly: When this monster is summoned to your side of the field you may choose to pay half of your life points, and if you do, destroy all spell and trap cards that your opponent controls. Your opponent then takes 500 points of damage for each card destroyed in this way.
Also Attack Points would be 3200 while Defense becomes 2300 (+500 for both). It remains Wind and an Insect. And the fusion can involve either Timeaus or a Dragon but the other has to be Poison Butterfly.
@@SKMedia252 Eh, kinda prefer my setup given how Amulet Dragon IIRC required Dark Magician and either Timeaus or a Dragon type monster. Though I do know Poison Butterfly requires another monster to special summon it so there is that.
So even though this was filler, this arc made Rex and Weevil into utterly irredeemable people. They were willing to sign up to an apocalypse cult and basically kill people because they were jealous of the champion of a recreational activity they enjoyed.
Let's say they were traumatized by their hefty fall from grace and the mistreatment from their former fans... oh, and the beating they received from the big brother of a little (former) fan they extorted a rare card from... oh, and the friends of said brother. Not just jealousy.
For Weevil to do it, it's not surprising since he was an irredeemable blood-sucking leech from the start and proved it once more when he dueled Joey. But in Rex's case, it was pretty much out of character for him and honestly the filler really did him dirty. Rex was never Weevil's friend or partner, they were simply introduced together as regional champions before they each went their own separate ways and Rex certainly wasn't nearly as bad as Weevil. Yeah he was arrogant and cocky, but he most definitely played fair, was pretty much a man of his word, and had honor as a duelist. And also, he never held any grudge against Joey for beating him and even went as far as to try and warn him about Espa Roba's "psychic powers" when dueling him. Kinda feel bad for him, but then again Rex wasn't the only character who was ruined in this season.
And yet at least during Rex's duel it seemed like they were trying to make Rex sound sympathetic, I actually appreciate that the 4kids dub of Joey in that scene had him reply to Rex's sob story with: "Get a life". The two of them ultimately have themselves to blame for how their lives turned to crap.
Atem really played the "It's over when I say it's over" card. That with his top deck magic, he would have literally drawn every last card he had if Tae had not stopped him
Naw the Seal of Orichalcos seemed to feel just bad enough for Wheevil that it took him before Yami could attack again; even a soul taking card thought it was overkill
I like how nearly every duel in this arc hinges on the antagonists drawing Seal of Orichalcos really early on. Like, imagine if it had been at the bottom of their deck and they just ended up playing a normal card game the whole time.
The only one that didnt play it at all was Valon when he faced Duke and Rebecca. The one who went the longest without activating it was Allister when he pretended to be Pegasus
I'm pretty sure it's assumed that the magic of the Orichalcos makes the card always appear at the top (like how the "Heart of the Cards" always puts a card you need next) or they legit just illegally stack their deck..which to be fair when they first show up in the beginning of this season they do admit they don't exactly play fair
im sure they're all running 3 ofs terraforming and SoO, and have magical bs antagonist powers to guarantee its in their opening hand. That, or they pull the same shit that they do in the digital card games where the Ai has weighted cards that are mathematically more likely to be drawn.
That’s what happens when you abuse the mercy shown to you, namely when it comes from an ancient spirit who had pretty murderous tendencies at the beginning of the series
What get's me about this Duel wasn't Weevil/Haga being the Slimmy little jerk he is(i have a HATRED of the SOB ever since the Kingdom. He gives Insect players a bad name...), it was how Atem went briefly insane and just DESTROYED him in in one turn. I don't think he never played YGO ever again, in point of fact....
I will give credit to the dub, Yami had unique lines when he draws some cards, such as "This just isn't your day" almost like he was enjoying slicing Weevil to bits
Well to be fair, Weevil would have won, had he only waited to activate his trap on his turn. At the end phase Yugi would have lost 500 LP due to Poison Butterfly and Breaker would have had 1600 Att, so he couldn't have activated Berserker's Soul. On Weevils turn he activates his Infestation and wins the game.
Eh, Weevil couldn’t have known that. Weevil doesn’t know what Yugi might do with his monsters after summoning Breaker, he may end up with only 1 or no monsters for all he knows, so although that play could have won it for him, from Weevil’s pov there’s no easy way to tell when it’s best to activate it depending on Yugi’s play, so may as well do it as soon as he can when it’s enough for poison butterfly to do fatal damage So all in all, that play mainly works if he knows what Yugi’s cards are. “But it’s the safe play” but not if Yugi ends up with less monsters before he can play the trap, so that might be why he did it. Just wanted to ensure he could do 200 damage then and there before it was too late.
To be fair, that's kinda the classic dilemma of: Do you wait and see or do you risk it and potentially go for game as quickly as possible? It wasn't neccesarily a misplay on Weevil's part tbh
@@createrz8433 Actually he did. Infestation lowered Breaker's ATK enough to where Yugi could play Berserker Soul. If Weevil never plays that card, he wins the duel.
@@VixYW It doesn't really matter. Basic good card game theory is that the strongest time to play a card is at the last possible optimal moment. This is why you generally play shrink and other atk modifying cards in the damage step, not before your opponent declares attackers. This is especially so in the case of traps because if your opponent doesn't know what it is, it could be anything. In this case, if it doesn't get played, Yugi can do his breaker effect into two attacks. It isn't enough to kill so Weevil doesn't need to use it to reduce damage. Yugi is free to think that he still has a turn left to live. Then Weevil activates it at the end of turn and it is game over. Technically, Weevil actually saves himself the 100 life points he lost from using it before his own creature was destroyed but takes 200 more from the two attacks. Either way, holding this till end of turn lets the opponent believe they have another turn to live so waiting till the end of turn to play it is smart. So there's no way to know what card the opponent had but there's enough reason to make the correct play for other reasons.
Well if he didn’t play infestation then he wouldn’t have had lethal and when yugi drew next turn he could have played berserker on Queens knight instead
Name: Poison dragonfly Effect: this card is always treated as “dragon type” when this card destroys an opponents monster that monster is summoned to your side of the field and you may change it’s type to the type of your choosing; once per turn you can inflict 1000 point of burn damage to opponents life points Super balanced probably wouldn’t see play in the real world but would easily clear yugi of his current predicament
I would say instead of taking the monster maybe do "After destroying a monster your opponent takes damage equal to that monsters attack" then the 2nd effect could be at end of each players turn this card dose 500 points of damage to each player unless they Sacrifice Another insect monster they control."
@@DownhillTabletop I like the always a dragon. I also like your idea but I would modify it to be damage equal to their stance. So if atk ap and if defense dp. Also. End phase Deals 500 damage to the controller of card unless an insect type or this card is tributed. That means no suiciding to get rid of a monster and itself or you still take 1 round of damage
@@DownhillTabletop Or, alternatively, it just inverts the target for Poison Butterfly's effect and possibly increases the burn damage a bit (such as bumping it up from 500 LP per turn to something like 750 LP per turn), so that the burn damage stops hitting Atem and instead begins hitting Weevil, which would then force Weevil into a position of now having to become far more aggressive about winning, as a way to force Weevil out of his relatively "passive" dueling style where he relies more on burn damage and screwing with his opponent's monsters without outright destroying them, and by locking down his opponent's monsters via his DNA Surgery/Insect Barrier combo.
To play a bit of "Devil's Advocate" here, Weevils Insect Deck wasn't badly built and if ANYBODY ELSE had played it, they would've won. The Deck was good,THE PLAYER was a tool that deserved to be completely destroyed....
@@blitz4779 Weevil does terrible because he gets too overconfident with his Insect Barrier and never has backup protection. Both Joey and Yugi showed that it's not enough to simply have one protection.
There was really nothing that could have been done. Weevil plays a good game here. Berserker Soul feels like a cheap win. He's still a tool but not a bad duelist.
I always thought that Atem warning Weevil was just an example that his true nature is a kind and caring man, even for his enemies. This made the unhinging even more significant as he went from someone who was willing to save even his own enemies to suddenly slaughtering them like an actual savage.
Yeah like i've saying this for a while now. People love acting like Atem is evil, but he literally just goes after people when they do something shitty. Then again, i can't really be suprised, i've seen people call Marik evil and citing his murdering of his father who abused his family and forced a 10 year old to get carvings on his back as the reason he's evil, not the fact he took that rage and went off innocent people. But what can you do lol
Weevil may have underhanded tactics, but he's never cheated. In the sub, Pegasus gave Weevil a copy of the rules to use as he wanted. Tossing Exodia happened before the tournament and as for Parasite Paracide, it was Joey's fault for not inspecting his deck prior to dueling, especially after Solomon literally told him it would be a good idea to do so. Not a cheater, more of trickster and sneaky strategist.
@@dbzlover666 Your nearest local tournament probably doesn't have a specific rule against ripping cards out of peoples' hands and tearing them up just before the tournament starts, but go try it and see if they still let you play.
Fun fact. In the sub version, Atem told Haga to "wash his neck and wait." That is an order traditionally given to prisoners about to be executed. He had just flat out declared that he was going to _kill_ Haga.
Despite this being an April Fools episode the fact that you still looked professional the whole time before the very end even tho you had every chance to not take this very seriously is respectable Good job man keep up the good work
All the spells and trap cards in Yugi’s deck magically disappeared, the moment he activated Berserker Soul. I was actually able to get a Berserker like moment on Masterduel, using World Legacy…guy scooped before I could mill him out. Had a full field, so he was locked down completely.
I actually had someone rage-quit on me in Master Duel too....while I was using a variation of the infamously brick-prone Blue-Eyes deck. I played Maiden with Eyes of Blue in face-up attack, and then I set Mirror Force as a backup in case of an emergency, and then I ended my turn. My opponent summons and attacks into my Maiden (basically, they didn't read her effect and simply saw me with a monster in face-up attack with 0 ATK), so I respond by activating her effect to negate the attack, switch her to defense position, and then special summon a BEWD to my side of the field in face-up attack position. As soon as my BEWD hit the field, my opponent rage-quit. Apparently they didn't have an answer for even a single BEWD. I also had another duel where my opponent essentially defeated *THEMSELVES* for me due to a single massive misplay. I go second, and my starting hand consists of Speed Warrior, Monster Reborn, Mirror Force, Bottomless Trap Hole, Destruction Jammer, & Scrap-Iron Scarecrow. I set all of the traps and I set Speed Warrior face-down and end my turn. My opponent's second turn starts and they play Red-Eyes Insight, sending Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning to the graveyard to activate it and add Red-Eyes Fusion to their hand. They then activate Red-Eyes Fusion, sending Gearfriend the Red-Eyes Iron Knight & Red-Eyes Black Dragon to the graveyard to summon Red-Eyes Slash Dragon, and I immediately hit Slash Dragon with Bottomless Trap Hole to remove it from play. They immediately end their turn. My second turn comes around and I draw Cynet Optimization (leaving me with just Cynet Optimization & Monster Reborn in my hand). I play Monster Reborn and snatch my opponent's Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning, and then I set Cynet Optimization (as a bluff to hopefully bait any trap removal towards the spell card rather than my actual traps), and I then attack directly with Red-Eyes Archfiend for 2500 direct damage (I keep Speed Warrior face-down as a bit of extra protection and to keep them guessing as to what my face-down monster actually is) and I end my turn. My opponent then plays Black Dragon Chick and uses it's effect to special summon a Red-Eyes Black Dragon to the field, and then they activate Black Metal Dragon from their hand to equip it to their Red-Eyes Black Dragon, boosting it up to 3000 ATK (making it strong enough to just defeat my Red-Eyes Archfiend straight up....if not for my Mirror Force & Scrap-Iron Scarecrow traps). ....And then they make their misplay that costs them the entire duel. They play the Claw of Hermos, targeting their Red-Eyes Black Dragon with it to fusion summon the Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword (sending the Black Metal Dragon to the graveyard in the process). The problem? They have no monsters face-up on the field anymore except their sword, and it must be equipped to a face-up monster on the field....and I'm the only one with a face-up monster on the field, the Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning, so they are forced to equip MY Archfiend with the Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword, boosting it up to 5500 ATK (the exact amount needed to end the duel with one more direct attack). They have no other options available and they end their turn. My turn comes around and I draw Enemy Controller (this becomes important very soon!). I immediately declare an attack with my Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning for game, and they activate Mirror Force, so I respond by discarding Enemy Controller to activate Destruction Jammer to negate and destroy their Mirror Force, and my direct attack goes through and deals the exact amount of damage needed to reduce them to 0 LP, ending the duel on the spot. I legitimately felt bad for my opponent in that duel. One misplay and they essentially defeated themselves. If they had just been a bit less gung-ho about playing Claw of Hermos, they might have actually found an answer to the lock-down I had them in. Sure, I still had Mirror Force & Scrap-Iron Scarecrow face-down, but they very easily could have had an answer to one or both traps in their hand or deck somewhere.
Back when I still played ygo in the Zexal era and Ele Dragons were at their peak and all still unlimited I milled a guy out. He used all the tokens off Dracossack and the insane hand advantage from super rejuvination to play a huge Slifer. On my turn's standby phase I activated my treeborn frog (was playing a homebrew Chaos Frog Monarch deck, still my favorite deck I ever made to this day) then my oppenent chained Maxx C. I looked at the field for a second and then summoned my treeborn frog in attack instead of defense like normal. He drew a card (mandatory) from Maxx C, and his Slifer triggered, and blew it up. Still my standby phase I resummoned treeborn, draw blow up. Summon, draw, blow up. Repeat ad nauseum and I milled him out in an infinite loop. Felt like justice instagibbing the utterly broken deck that was dragon rulers. Good times.
I had one like that a few years ago. I was playing against a friend (can't remember what they were running but they had a board with Dracossack and two tokens). I was running Cyber Dragons (after Nova, before Infinity). They were about to win and I needed Cyber Valley to survive one more turn. Didn't get it but the one that won me the duel instead, Overload Fusion. Summon a seven material Chimeratech Overdragon, run into Dracossack seven times for 21,000 damage. I had actually completely forgotten I had added Overload Fusion to my deck at the time.
Yugi's deck is fascinating. During the Pegasus arc, Yugi's deck was based around DnD concepts, fantasy and medieval aesthetics hence why it was filled with so many different sword wielders, elves, and magicians. During Battle City, Yugi keeps this aesthetic but optimizes it a little better so he doesnt brick his hand as often as he did during Duelist Kingdom. The only real slight changes we see namely come from what support cards he seems to have in his deck. I can totally buy that a lot of Yugi's more frequently used magic cards like Magical Hats, Mystic Box, Spellbinding Circle and Magic Cylinder were all to lean into the "Dark Magician" support deck that slowly optimizes itself near the end of the series. But then Yugi just seems to have shit in his deck that he just magically has that doesnt aesthetically fit his play style. I get that Yugi has contingency plans for everything and there isnt exactly scenes of Yugi in silent contemplation tweaking his deck between duels but you'd think Yugi was walking around with a deck filled with 5000 cards. It reminds me how during the Semi Final match up between Yugi and Kaiba, when Kaiba played Final Attack orders, Yugi looked like he still had a full deck full of shit he hadnt even begun to play yet until Kaiba told him to brick his deck. So no, I dont think Weevil had a chance in hell to defeat Yugi because him pulling "Berserker Soul" out of the endless card abyss that is Yugi's deck of situational cards is nothing short of an act of god. Yugi's deck is literally a commandment from god.

You can only use the first effect of "Timaeus, The Venom Winged Dragon" once per turn.
Weevil's biggest misplay was on the last turn. And it wasn't just making Atem THAT mad. Had he waited to use Infestation, he could've knocked Yugi's life points to 0 after Poison Butterfly did its damage, and Yugi wouldn't have been able to use Berserker Soul.
I mean, once it reached to his turn, prob. Even if Yugi destroyed insect barrier, Breaker's attack would be barely too high for berserker soul to activate
His biggest missplay was putting a card that inflicts 100 points of damage per monster. The maximum damage this card can inflict is 1000 damage with both fields full. He was given access to Domas card collection, couldn't he at least pick a Hinotama or Meteor of Destroction? Wtf infestation?

Poison butterfly fusing with timaeus effect: during each end phase, inflict 500 damage (maybe 200 if 500 feels unbalanced) to your opponent for each monster you control, and then maybe either some kind of destruction effect like e hero absolute zero where it bombs the field or deals extra damage when it leaves the field. It IS a legendary dragon card still, those have some pretty powerful effects.
I'd like to dub it Behemoth the Poisoned Dragonfly! Why Behemoth? So there is a game called Yugioh Duelist of the Roses. A thing in that game is your name dictates your choice of 3 decks. For some reason when looking at a name listing for the game. The phrase "Behemoth" appears several times. AND yes... I know realize the word "Moth" exists in "Behemoth". ---- Poisoned Butterfly had 2700 attack points... most monster cards get 400-600 attack points as a bonus from The Eye of Timaeus. Imma give it the middle of the road, since Joey's don't change and Kaiba's are based on trap cards with no real attack values. So 3200 seems like a safe bet...

There could've been a way for weevil to win on the final turn, if he had activated infestation after the battle phase ended rather than the start of turn, Yami could not play Berserker soul with Breaker being at 1600 attack and would lose to the burn damage of infestation and poison butterfly.
Yeah it could've but he needs hindsight for it. He doesn't know Yugi had Berserker Soul. Decreasing attack of monsters is a correct play to lessen lifepoint damage.
I'm thinking something like: "Poison Dust Dragon" 2800/2300. Once per turn (Quick Effect): you may discard 1 card from your hand. Target 1 spell/trap on the field. Destroy that target and if you do, Inflict 500 damage to its controller.
Honestly, Weevil’s trying to upset the man who’s literal superpower is “draw what card I need”, is by far the biggest misplay of all time. That rage %100 is what fueled his power to work overtime there.
My only issue was that they show the monster card before Weevil rips it. That could have been some serious viewer stress as well if we really believed him. Either hide the face of the card or even have it be a fake card showing Yugi for the extra drama.

Re: Why Weevil has Insect Queen. I always assumed that since he was able to re-build his deck based on cards owned by Dartz's group, he was able to put it back in his deck from that. But I do like the thought that he had duplicates due to it not being his rarest card.
I legit think this is one of the best duels in the series. Weavil, who's been made a joke of a character up until this point, just runs rings around Yugi up until the end, really ramping up the tension. Everything Yugi tries just fails outright until he manages to take it back at the end with one magnificent play (sure it's a pair of cards he has literally never used before but that's a pretty recurring issue with the series) that really shows off his emotions, because Weavil has been the perfect annoying little shit the entire time. The top of a runaway train is also a suitably dynamic and dramatic location for the duel. I wonder how the Seal of Orichalcos would have reacted had Yugi not warned Weavil and one of the duelists had been brained against a rock mid duel.

If timaeus was to fuse with poison butterfly, in the modern game, it would be Timaeus, the poison fly dragon Atk: 3000 def:3000 insect/fusion/effect fusion materials: poison butterfly+1 or more dragon monsters Effect: While this card is on the field, during each of you standby phases, you can inflict 500 points of damage to the opponent for every dragon type monster used for the fusion summon of this card (If this card was special summoned by the effect of eye of timeas, half your opponents life points instead); Once per turn, you can tribute one card on the field, and if it was a monster, inflict damage to the opponent equal to half that monsters attack.
@@RedDragonForce2 I was thinking a harpies feather duster like effect. Like sent the top card of your deck to the grave, destroy all your opponents spell and trap cards and deal 500 points of damage for each one
@@gperez1521 true, but think OG YuGiOh Terms. Particularly with the wording of the effect (tribute one card on the field). That’s broken in any context of the word.
Damnit you didn’t mention that Weevil would’ve won if he didn’t activate that 1 pointless trap that literally dropped Breaker into the atk point range that Yugi needed him to be.
Considering he didn't know Yami Yugi had Berserker Soul anyone would have used a card to decrease your Monsters' ATK and your opponent's LP, so I can't say that not playing that were a smarter move Maybe playing it during the End Phase would've been smarter but that's only, again, because of Berserker Soul in Yami Yugi's hand
It kind of was. A lot of yu gi oh antagonists will simply activate a trap just slightly too early for the protagonist to win the game. Ex: I remember in zexal when yuma was going up against dijin general (?) and the guy activated a trap before the bp to prevent utopia from attacking that turn, and ep it gets destroyed and 500 dam is inflicted. So what did yuma do? Just chaos xyz evolutioned. Now, this guy of course did not know that yuma had that play, but the point is, had he waited until the bp to activate his trap yuma would have lost. Thus, its the same here. Had weevil just waited at least until m2 he would have won the duel.
@@yaakovsteinberg4128 i feel like that's more hindsight than anything. "how was i supposed to know he'd have that one exact card to win him the duel" isn't exactly a misplay. for all he knew he probably was about to tribute the monsters off for some other effect, which i'd say is more likely than atem having exactly berserker soul, a card that, up to this point in the series, hasn't been played at all.
The fact knowing that the puzzles power is to will whatever card you desperately want/need to the top of the deck and Yami Yugi just went crazy with monster cards says alot
Hmmm, concept for that card: Poison Dragonfly Dragon type When your opponent activates a card effect: your opponent can choose to take 300 points of effect damage, if they don't then negate the card's effect. I don't know the atk/def of Poison Butterfly but probably the same for this

When a card is activated that targets this card: banish an insect monster from your hand or graveyard, negate the activation and destroy that card. This card’s controller takes 500 damage during each of their end phases.
poison dragon butterfly, a level 7 fusion monster with 300 atk and 2400 def, effects: it can only be special summoned by tributing poison butterfly with the eye of timeas, when this card is special summoned, destroy all other monsters on the field who their original type is insect, and if you do, it gains 700 atk for each one destroyed, once per turn, while you control 2 or more insect type monsters (quick effect) negate the effect of any card on the field that negates the attack of a monster on the field who's original type is insect until the end of your opponents turn, if this card is destroyed by a monster who's original type is an insect, you can special summon 1 "perfectly ultimate great moth" from your hand or deck to the field ignoring its summonning condition, you can only activate one of the effects of poision butterfly dragon once per turn.
Weevil was always a canon fodder for me across the entire Yu-Gi-Oh! series and who in their right mind would say he had any chance defeating Yugi Muto/Atem. 😂 I would like a future analysis of either *Jaden Yuki vs Yubel* or *Yusei Fudo vs Jack Atlas.*
He was doing well until he pranked yugi. Of course he still had all of that set out anyway. So there's no real way of knowing if he would have used it. I think Yugi's spirit was about to fizzle out until he got that burst of anger. Lol
I say they call it "poison fang dragonfly" effect-opponet monsters lose 100 atk/def for each of its rank or level. Opponent discards 1 card from hand or deal 500 damage to opponent at end of turn.
Im sure these duel recaps are tough to make already, but I’d like to think this one was a little bit harder, considering it spans over three episodes AND is intercut with Joey’s duel vs Rex. Actually can you do that one next? Rex has a MASSIVE shenanigans moment right at the start
The ending to this duel starting at Weevil tearing the card is hands down one of my favorite moments of the entire series. Never see Yugi so mad and vengeful, it was awesome!!!!
Hey Konami printed Cosmic Blazar Dragon a card that was never seen but mentioned in 5ds. So yeah Konami can definitely print out a poison butterfly Timaeus fusion card.
11:04 Poison butterfly wings Insect/fusion/effect This card must be special summoned by the effects of “eye of Tobias” sacrificing “poison butterfly”. This card gains 500 attack and defense for each insect monster on the field and in both players graveyard. Your opponent must pay 500 life points to activate a card effect or declare an attack. Once per turn; if you receive a direct attack while this card is face up on the field: gain life points equal to double the damage you take. While this card is face up on the field: you take no effect damage.
The Eye of Timeaus can only target cards with Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl in their card names though. Timaeus the United Dragon however could merge with Poison Butterfly
Nice vid though I thought the next duel analysis vid was going to be 5DS considering the series with the most votes was 5DS. My guess is that they’ll be a poll later for us to choose which 5DS duel to cover. I personally would really love the Team Ragnarok duel or Leo, Luna and Jack vs Aporia.
I tried the Team Ragnarok duel but 1 slight problem, we don't know what's the rest of the cards in the decks, the only way I'd imagine Sam does it, is by essentially treating them as each duel is it's own unique, so could've Dragan Beat Jack, Broder beat Crow and Haldor beat Yusei, could it be done by treating it as it's own duel, yes but we don't see them duel before nor after so we can't say for definite what's in the decks
Honestly, I'd love to see that one. That duel makes the Meklord archetype look SOO much cooler then it really is (at least until the new support we got last year, which gave them respectable drawing power, some swarming potential and a new boss monster)
@@varisrevolver4061 The Team Unicorn battle might have a bit more to discuss depending on how Jack or even Akiza played. If they could have beaten Andre (probably not Jack, but maybe he could have set Akiza up better), it would have set up Yusei to be in a much better position. Plus, there's Jack's crash an if fixing that would have gotten Akiza in a better position when she went out, given that she would have had more speed counters and Andre would have had less.
The problem with the Eye of Tamias is that the real world version is explicitly Dark Magician/Dark Magician Girl support. In order for it to be a real world card, there would have to be a specific ruling or some alternate summoning condition to bring out what I would presume to be Poison-Winged Tamias, a monster that I would assume would just deal a flat 1000 damage to the opponent during each end phase and maybe have 3000 ATK baseline. Hard to say, the rules of the legendary dragons and what they bring out (as well as how they bring them out) are weird.
They would either have to remake tamias or make poison butterfly "this card is treated as dark magician" which while funny cuz that means weevil literally put that card in for Yugi it really wouldn't make sense
@@ryuudraco592 The explicit card text on Tamias reads "(This card is also always treated as "Legendary Dragon Timaeus".) Target 1 "Dark Magician" monster you control; Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monsterfrom your Extra Deck that lists that monster on the field as Fusion Material, using it as the Fusion Material. You can only activate 1 "The Eye of Timaeus" per turn." So that means that it would need to have a similar text for it to work.
5:41 As cool as the explanation is, before this duel Rex and Weevil were given access to nearly every card in the game by Dartz once they joined his cult. Weevil probably just got a new one there. That's also most likely where Rex got Tyrant Dragon.
So Timaeus only works with a 'Dark Magician' monster, so maybe something like this: Dark Poison Sage DARK/Spellcaster 3000 ATK/2600 DEF 1 'Dark Magician' monster + 1 Insect-type monster Must first be Fusion Summoned. During each of your End Phases, inflict 500 damage to your opponent, and if you do, all monsters your opponent currently controls lose 500 ATK/DEF. Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; place 1 Poison Counter on it. Monsters with Poison Counters have their effects negated and, during the Battle Phase, lose 1000 ATK/DEF. If this card is sent to the GY by your opponent's card: You can Special Summon 1 'Dark Magician' monster in your GY in Defense Position. Edit: wanted to make sure the effect negation part works all the time and not just in the Battle Phase
5:20 Friendship should be Eternal "Poisonous Scales Dragon"- LV 8 - Dragon-Type - 2800 ATK - 2000 DEF - Fusion/ Effect: 1 Insect-Type monster + 1 Dragon-Type Monster This card Must be First Fusion Summoned or Special Summoned with the effect of "The Eye of Timaeus". You can send to the GY 1 Level 6 or higher Insect-Type monster on your side of the field, discard 1 "The Eye of Timaeus" from your hand and Special Summon this card from your Extra Deck (this is treated as an Special Summon with the effect of "The Eye of Timaeus"). If this card is Summoned from your Extra Deck to your side of the field, you can: Destroy all other Face-up monsters on the field . While this card is Face-Up on the field all others Non Insect-Type monsters face-up on the field have their attack halved and Every Time that a Monster on the Field is destroyed its owner recieves 500 LP of Damage. Its effects are perjudicial for both players cuz the Poison Butterfly its a danger for both players: For you thanks to its effect of dealing 500 LP of damage to you during each of your End Phases, and for the Opponent cuz if they don't have Insect Barrier its basically giving you a 2700 ATK monster
*Poison Dragon* When this card destroys a monster: inflict 500 damage to that monster's controller. 2900/1900 *Butterfly Dragon* This card's controller Gains 500 life points during each of their End Phases. 3000/2100 Based on Poison Moth's ability, I figured it would either deal damage to the opponent (likely upon destroying a monster) or do something to the controller's life points during the End Phase (likely increase them). I also figured the one that deals damage would be weaker in terms of attack points as balance. I wanted to give Butterfly Dragons 3200 atk, but I don't think any dragon was stronger than Blue-Eyes back then (save Ultimate Dragon), so 3000 it was.
I always just assumed that Weevil got the second Insect Queen by Dartz. You know during the scene where Dartz's henchmen took them in a place full of rare cards.
Timaeus Butterfly fusion idea: Poison Moth Dragon WIND, Level 8, Insect/Fusion/Effect, ATK: 3000, DEF: 2000 Effect: Eye of Timaeus + Insect monster "This card gains 500 ATK for each insect monster on the field. During the end phase, if this card did not attack: inflict damage to your opponent equal to half this card's ATK." I really wanted to make it so that this card fits the situation and its Weevil's fault he loses, it gains a bunch of ATK because all the monsters on the field are insects and it deals a ton of damage because it can't attack. It seems like one of those anime bs cards but that's what most of the dragon fusions are anyway.

Dogs were peeing on them ffs
I actually wish they brought back that bully Kaiba OTK with Obelisk the Tormentor, so he could duel Kaiba at the same time.

This is true, weevil definitely got too cocky
Eh, Weevil couldn’t have known that. Weevil doesn’t know what Yugi might do with his monsters after summoning Breaker, he may end up with only 1 or no monsters for all he knows, so although that play could have won it for him, from Weevil’s pov there’s no easy way to tell when it’s best to activate it depending on Yugi’s play, so may as well do it as soon as he can when it’s enough for poison butterfly to do fatal damage
So all in all, that play mainly works if he knows what Yugi’s cards are. “But it’s the safe play” but not if Yugi ends up with less monsters before he can play the trap, so that might be why he did it. Just wanted to ensure he could do 200 damage then and there before it was too late.
He should have defenetly waited to mayby bait out the breaker
To be fair, that's kinda the classic dilemma of:
Do you wait and see or do you risk it and potentially go for game as quickly as possible?

That's exactly what I've always thought.

@@GDExodus He had no way to know Yugi had that card on his hand tho.

There are times even a filler episode can be nice to watch. This is one of them.
Berserker soul! Draw! *MONSTA CARDO!*
I feel like this single episode justifies filler episodes.
Fun fact. In the sub version, Atem told Haga to "wash his neck and wait." That is an order traditionally given to prisoners about to be executed. He had just flat out declared that he was going to _kill_ Haga.

Good job man keep up the good work
I'm kinda sad we didn't get a proper usual wrap up assessment of if he could have won.
Good times.
In the anime, it was an ATK, not burn dmg

Once per turn, banish all Continuous Spell/Traps from both players GY, send cards on the field equal to the amount banished by this effect to the GY until the End Phase.

An interesting thing is that on Yugi's "Natural Selection" card we can see Backup Gardna in the Artwork. Backup Gardna is a Monster that belongs to Raphael, so it's kind of funny Yugi has this card.
6:00 In the episode prior, when Dartz allows Rex and Weevil to join Doma, they are offered the chance to make a completely new deck from every card that has been printed up to this point, since Dartz secretly owns Industrial Illusions, minus the God Cards.

They were real cards; DOMA had already acquired Industrial Illusion from Pegasus and were also rich. It was the Ghouls that counterfeited cards.
Pretty sure Weevil got a new copy of insect queen from that scene as well.
Maybe named Tyrant Dragonfly?
I would say Amethyst Butterfly or Amethyst Dragon since Timeaus is called Amulet Dragon and poison moth has purple so Amethyst would make sense.
I like the name POISON DRAGON might be a better fit...
----
Poisoned Butterfly had 2700 attack points... most monster cards get 400-600 attack points as a bonus from The Eye of Timaeus. Imma give it the middle of the road, since Joey's don't change and Kaiba's are based on trap cards with no real attack values. So 3200 seems like a safe bet...

I call this a season 0 relapse, and I have no sympathy for this moron, especially when Atem showed him mercy earlier by warning him about the overpass
My only issue was that they show the monster card before Weevil rips it. That could have been some serious viewer stress as well if we really believed him. Either hide the face of the card or even have it be a fake card showing Yugi for the extra drama.

Both explanations work so we're set

Maybe playing it during the End Phase would've been smarter but that's only, again, because of Berserker Soul in Yami Yugi's hand

So what did yuma do? Just chaos xyz evolutioned. Now, this guy of course did not know that yuma had that play, but the point is, had he waited until the bp to activate his trap yuma would have lost. @@anthonym840 He summoned a Legule clone. Wouldn't it have been a better play to not summon Insect Queen and just stick with 2 direct attackers?
@@kyuubinaruto17 sure. But u know this is yugioh and everyone has got to play in a way that advances the plot forward.
Yubel vs Jaden duel analysis for sure, and maybe could also have Yubel-Jesse vs Jaden duel in the same video (like the Zane vs Jaden video).
@@Mullet345 You're absolutely right.
LOL best ending to a “Was character about to defeat someone” EVER! I’m over dying that was too much
I love the Dub version of Berserker Barrage from Yugi. "This just isn't your day" as he attacks again! Lol
Hey Konami printed Cosmic Blazar Dragon a card that was never seen but mentioned in 5ds. So yeah Konami can definitely print out a poison butterfly Timaeus fusion card.
When was it mentioned?
@@nicholaspeterman9111 YGO 5ds ep. 149
They also made Destruction Dragon which is another fusion for Critias.
In the words of Atem
Atem: TEA! Did you make sure the viewers saw your butt when you fell
Tea: Yes
Atem: Thank goodness it was vitally necessary

Poison butterfly wings
Insect/fusion/effect
This card must be special summoned by the effects of “eye of Tobias” sacrificing “poison butterfly”.
12:46 The entire way you described this scene was really funny. "Bro. This is Yugi." **Shows children's card**
Okay. Would there be any other WRGP duels that could work like Team Unicorn, Taiyo (one of my favourites) and New World?
Team Unicorn one is easy. Don't attack end turn. Yusei decks out. Dunno about the other 2 yet
@@ryuudraco592 The explicit card text on Tamias reads "(This card is also always treated as "Legendary Dragon Timaeus".)
Target 1 "Dark Magician" monster you control; Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monsterfrom your Extra Deck that lists that monster on the field as Fusion Material, using it as the Fusion Material. You can only activate 1 "The Eye of Timaeus" per turn." So that means that it would need to have a similar text for it to work.
@@dudebladeX Basically Atem misplayed ;)
It’s spelled Timaeus.
5:41 As cool as the explanation is, before this duel Rex and Weevil were given access to nearly every card in the game by Dartz once they joined his cult. Weevil probably just got a new one there. That's also most likely where Rex got Tyrant Dragon.
I always comeback to this vid & have a good laugh😂
Especially when the seal is trying to take this man’s soul & Yami keeps attacking 💀
14:19 DRAW, MONSTA CARDO!
So Timaeus only works with a 'Dark Magician' monster, so maybe something like this:
Dark Poison Sage
DARK/Spellcaster
3000 ATK/2600 DEF
1 'Dark Magician' monster + 1 Insect-type monster
Must first be Fusion Summoned.
Sweet
5:20 is my favorite moment
Perv
5:20 Friendship should be Eternal
"Poisonous Scales Dragon"- LV 8 - Dragon-Type - 2800 ATK - 2000 DEF - Fusion/ Effect:
1 Insect-Type monster + 1 Dragon-Type Monster
This card Must be First Fusion Summoned or Special Summoned with the effect of "The Eye of Timaeus".
Should do the duel that's also going on around the same time. Joey vs Rex
*Poison Dragon*
When this card destroys a monster: inflict 500 damage to that monster's controller.
2900/1900
*Butterfly Dragon*
This card's controller Gains 500 life points during each of their End Phases.
3000/2100
Based on Poison Moth's ability, I figured it would either deal damage to the opponent (likely upon destroying a monster) or do something to the controller's life points during the End Phase (likely increase them).
Hi again, I wouldn't mind seeing the battle in series 5 with Yami Bakura vs Yugi (small one) to see if Bakura could've won against him.
Timaeus Butterfly fusion idea:
Poison Moth Dragon
WIND, Level 8, Insect/Fusion/Effect, ATK: 3000, DEF: 2000
Effect: Eye of Timaeus + Insect monster
"This card gains 500 ATK for each insect monster on the field. During the end phase, if this card did not attack: inflict damage to your opponent equal to half this card's ATK."
I really wanted to make it so that this card fits the situation and its Weevil's fault he loses, it gains a bunch of ATK because all the monsters on the field are insects and it deals a ton of damage because it can't attack. It seems like one of those anime bs cards but that's what most of the dragon fusions are anyway.
6:03 weevil got another insect Queen when he was hired by Dartz
