This is an independently produced music video by a collective of artists coming together from multiple art practises and disciplines, celebrating this beautiful song that aims at spreading a common message of love and care beyond all barriers of superstition and divides.

The nazm was composed as a medium of protest against Zia Ul Haq's oppressive regime. It gained a rapid cult-following as a song of resistance and defiance, after a public rendition by Iqbal Bano at Alhamra Arts Council on 13 February 1986, ignoring the ban on Faiz's poetry.

Black colour is the colour of resistance. In classical dance forms, it severely discouraged to wear black colour during a performance. Yet Srabanti bhattacharya has intentionally started wearing black sarees during her performances, to express her dissent against the theo-political ideologies in current times.
