Meaning 1: The Emancipation of Mimi Squared Meaning 2: A formula on making pop music/albums Meaning 3: Precursor of Mariah Carey Cannon (Mc2) Meaning 4: Her downfall only seemed dire because of her initial success (relativity) The title is my favorite part of the album. She has some gems on here too.
My favourite album. E-MC2 is so complex and powerful, not just the vocals, but the lyrics are all so deep and drawn from her life around her. Absolutely loved it. I Wish You Well is one of the most powerful of hers. She hits like an E7 in whistle notes up there, its incredible. This is her 2000's prime for me.
What a great treat 🥂✨✨ 2 reactions in a week. This was as she put it, Emancipation to the 2nd power hence E=MC². I agree ahe kept her vocal range within a certain pocket in order to accommodate the flow of the album because of fhe various sounds and styles of beats used & also the features. Got this at Virgin Megastore in Times Square (OMG over 15 years ago 🤯😭) This one Grew on me over time and is now a fave of mine because of the departure from the expected and her norm. Now on to the BTS. This is when she officially became Mrs. Mariah Carey Cannon . The video shoot for Bye Bye was filmed in the Caribbean , so They invited close friends to join them on Vacay while they filmed the MV. Once wrapped, They surprised everyone with their Wedding. Some stuff is documented in the MV for Bye Bye. Nick also directed the MV for, I Stay in Love. The album was well received, However what was at the Forefront and dominating the headlines was the Surprise Marriage. Everyone was like How TF did he land Mariah 🤔🤔🤷🤭. This was when I started to notice the effort she was using to deliver the songs. She could still do it all however That Effortlessness with which she would deliver those songs in her 1st decade was a bit less assured.
It is true this album has A LOT to take in, but honestly for me this shows how versatile she is. This album has 2 of the most personal songs from Mariah IMO, Side Effects, about her relationship with TM, and Bye Bye, about losing her dad. It is so touching when she says; "you never got to see me back at number one, I wish you were here to celebrate together. Thanks for taking the time to do this!!
One thing that contributed to Mariah's restraint vocally was the fact that music had changed by then. Vocalists were being replaced by entertainers with catchy, easy-to-sing-along songs. Reaggeton had taken over, etc. Eversince teenagers and children dictate who's famous, vocals have taken a backseat to fun, 2-and-a-half-min songs. Current urban music made the regular, ordinary and simple mainstream, it became the standard and we have stayed there forever. Not saying it's bad, but it's reality.
When I first listened to this album I wasn’t impressed but I still liked it. Over the years it’s really grown on me and now it’s one of the albums I like to bump when I’m pumping top-down down to Sunday brunch. 🥰
This album has some gems: Migrate, Touch My Body, I Stay In Love, I'm That Chick, I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time , Thanx 4 Nothing and Bye Bye. Seven bangers out of 16 Songs made this album just okay for me but the good songs are really good and have crazy replay value. I kept going back to just my favs but not the album as a whole. Too bad this album lacked cohesion and consistency.
Oh we got more Mariah right away! So awesome! With this album " touch my body " became her 18th #1. I love Migrate, I'll be lovin you long time & bye bye....The following year in 2009 she came out with her album " Memoirs of an imperfect angel " as this one has many good songs as well & at the end she does another cover by one of my favorite bands, her version became super huge in Brazil.
I am reeeeady for memoirs! It’s her most cohesive album in her catalogue as she worked w The Dream on almost all of the tracks (if not all. Can’t recall) regardless, first time she’d done this in her career and it created a gem. Some of her best lyrical work and solid from front to back.
Funny thing is, Wendy absolutely LOVES that line about her that Mariah put in Touch My Body. She used to randomly sing that part all the time. 😂 If you ever listen to a Mariah/Wendy interview you will see one of the things LAMBS love most about Mariah… her quick wit and ability to laugh at rude interviewers and see them for the clowns they are. 🥰
Please continue your Azealia Banks journey with the 1991 EP and her Slay-Z mix tape! Love your reactions and I’d love to see you react to more of her work.
You should 100% react to Aaliyahs self titled album!(similar rnb style to destinys child) she worked very closely with timbaland on the album i think u would love it!!
Can we please do some AMY WINEHOUSE please 🙏🏼 we've only got 2 albums to go! Then we HAVE to do her live show that was released on dvd! I swear that will be one of your favourite things you've ever seen! I was lucky enough to have to witness it live 🫶🏼✌🏼
She missed out on releasing a few songs (or they were not properly marketed, etc) and Migrate was one of them. Could have been a #1 along with Butterfly, Breakdown (she was robbed).
I really loved the album when she released it, but while I still love all of the uptempo songs, the ballads leave me bored with the exception of For the Record and I Wish You Well. Overall, it’s a good album with some serious lyrical depth, but I don’t revisit it very much. As you said, everyone’s top 5 will always look relatively different and something will always be left out because of the sheer amount of material she’s released and how each album has its own sound.
This is one of her worst albums in my opinion even though it still pretty good. It just didn’t generate much timeless music as the others. It was very current at the time so it doesn’t age well at all. I actually think her next album Memoirs is WAAAAY better.
This is def not a fan favorite it’s more of like a bonus/party album for Mariah imo. I never reply it except for a few songs. I think Lovin You should have been a number one though it’s timeless too me.
first! the album title is very genius of her.

Last Kiss will forever be one of my absolute favorites. My gosh what a magical song that is. just instant classic.
I like this one too
@@Alebabe beautiful song. I fell in love with it instantly 💜🩷
@@3BuckHead same, first listen and I was completely obssesed with it.
No doubt ! One her best song 🎉

Complex? It’s her most shallow album ever
@@jeremimi Not interested in your opinion thanks, nothing you say will ever convince me, don't waste your time.
The entire album.. BOOOOPPPPP!!!
for real for real
Fun fact.. the first track on this album, Migrate, was produced by Danja who produced Britney's Blackout album. Certified bop.
Wow!! Thats why its so blackout coded!!
I love this album! Almost every song is a banger!

When I tell you this came at the perfect time I’ve been listening to this album for the past 2 weeks 😭
love the consistency
Loved this, I’m excited for you to hear Memoirs next lol
Beyond excited for MSG!!!
Yaaasss... Luv your reaction. Never disappoint❤. Mariah❤
One of my top 3 mariah albums! You can feel that she was having a ball at this time of her life!
I love how TEOM is so good you can't wait to get to EMC2 haha

Dude when are you doing her MSG live concert from 93??
Nm you said it after I typed it lmao. Love the facial hair btw ❤
I love this album so much 💜 it's a crime that Last Kiss wasn't a single. It gives me We Belong Together Part 2
You'll never guess which song off this album was covered by THEE Aretha Franklin 😂😂
TOUCH MY BODYYYY😍🫦

Points made ! 😅. Slick, fun, production, bops. "I wish you well", is amazing 🎉. I think you're gonna enjoy memoirs ❤
I like this album, it was fresh and current. I can hear Ariana Grande singing these songs
That Nivea song she referenced, 🎶Don’t mess with my man or I’ma be the one to bring it to you!🎶 used to be my JAM back in elementary school! 😂🥰
Don’t forget about us inyo!!❤❤
“I said if *Jermaine* likes it, then *I* like it.” 🥰

Danity Kane - Welcome To The Dollhouse album
Mariah wrote all the songs :)
Olá! Abraços do Brasil mais uma vez hehehe!

Yes Amy winehouse!! Her lives are crazy especially when she covered I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know ❤️🩹
@@KT-qu4cj she was so amazing. I have a really cool Amy tattoo on my forearm
React to Nelly Furtado Loose!! ✨

Same 100 percent
I remember a youtube comment long ago said she should have made a second version that had the acoustic equivalent (like her MTV shorts).

pause in between songs and give your thoughts
Please stop songs to talk. I can’t hear your comments over the music 😢
