Jay not only got the names right, but he called King Ghidorah by the original US translation of *Ghidrah*, a nice shout-out to how we did things back in the day!
It's five years later, and this trailer doesn't cease to pull tears out of me. There are many significant moments in my life that won't ever be forgotten, and one of them is the day I saw this movie in theaters. Don't care what anyone on earth says, King of the Monsters was a great movie.
This looks amazing, the song choice was perfect. The music gave me a sense of beauty and wonderment. And seeing the classic Godzilla monsters was great.
Love the end scene with all the fighter jets flying by Godzilla. That looked epic. Basically Godzilla doesn't really care about us. He does his own thing to bring balance to the world. We probably realize he is fighting the real threat which is Ghidora so we 'try' to help him.
3.50 look at the sheen in his eyes. I too was brought to tears by the beauty of, and the curiosity created from this trailer. not since the BvS teaser trailer back in 2015 have I cried from nerdy excitement. This is why I love movies that aren't afraid to be different and "dark".
I'v been watching reactions to the trailer all night and i think this is the best so far. Your faces are priceless... those eyes on superman! i had the same reaction, almost cried at the end with that AWESOME ROAR And plus i agree, who cares about the plot, give us the fights!
Just a quick FYI guys, yes this is very much a sequel to the 2014 film. Even brought back Ken Watanabe and Sally Fields, though those are the only 2 returning cast members. But yeah, this looks phenomenal. As a life long Godzilla fan, I does my heart good to see the Big 4 back together on the big screen in one movie. Long Live the King indeed!
This kicks butt. Thank God for the efforts of Ishiro Honda, Tomoyuki Tanaka, Eiji Tsuburaya, Akira Ifukube and a host of other talented, crazy people who started it all. Love me some Toho monster movies. Gaw!
Notice Gidorah is trapped in ice. I'm thinking there'll be a 'global warming releases a monster to stop us from killing the planet' story. So to stop Gidorah that woman releases Rodan (hence blowing up the volcano he's trapped in), Mothra and awakens (or he wakes up when Gidorah thaws out) Godzilla. Gidorah is even bigger than Godzilla so he'll need help. Possible King Kong foot after dude says 'long live the KING'.
Great trailer. Looks like we might be getting the japanese Kaiju style with the production quality and special effects of an american studio. Not surprised Toho has started embracing the new Godzilla design and openend up to working with Legendary.
"Godzilla" was more about the lesson to be learned... One that is once again being visited here... In that movie, as in the whole of this movie universe, The King and the God represents what we as a species take for granted: the forces of nature... When things were thrown into imbalance, as symbolized with the MUTOs, nature activated its failsafe for this planet: Godzilla... Godzilla is like a Category 6 hurricane... A 11.0 earthquake... A coast-shattering tsunami... An EF6 tornado... A stratovolcano approaching wtf-super status... You don't want to see any of those all the time... If you do, you're screwed, because you have nowhere else to go but this world...That is the mentality behind his lack of show... You feel the presence of a force of nature before you see it, and Godzilla is that force... He is natures failsafe... And you are fucked if nature feels the need to activate one of those... Fortunately in that movie, he came, did his job, and left... That is how they said they were going to portray Godzilla: as a failsafe force of nature... In this one, as you heard in the dialog, the premise and intent is the same... Only now, it's worse... So more than just one failsafe has to be activated... This time, as Vera's character said, we are the problem... And the herd has to be thinned... But if it doesn't happen, our race and maybe all life on this planet is extinct... "The arrogance of man is in thinking we are in control of nature, and not the other way around." The movie did what it was supposed to do... Whether or not some got it, especially in this day and age, is in the hands of the viewer... The root word of "monster" is the same as for "demonstrate"... A monster is essentially a hard lesson that needs to be taught and/or learned... The movie did its job... This one will, as well...
I’d be so damn happy if Rodman just goes to 1v1 Ghidorah, because he’s that badass. I mean, the director has a soft spot for Rodan, since he said so in an interview.
Kong II: Hawaiian Boogaloo Surfacing in Hawaii, Kong, intent on death and destruction, has a change of heart when his new friend Kyle convinces him to enter a regional surfing contest in order to save a community youth center. Kong II: Hawaiian Boogaloo. Hanging ten at a theater near you!
Y'all pretty much called like 65% of the monster verse in this trailer riff. If I weren't already subbed for like 2 yrs now just going back thru your catalog, I'd do it all over again
First off, this is, in fact, a sequel to the 2014 film. If you notice, Watanabe and Hawkins are back. And let's be honest, Gareth Edwards makes boring movies. Not necessarily bad, but boring. I'm glad he's not back. Dougherty is a good writer/director choice. Also, I'm pretty sure Charles Dance is playing elder James Conrad (Tom Hiddleston) from Kong: Skull Island. He was a Monarch agent by the end of that film. As for the plot, from what I gleaned from the dialogue...I'm getting the impression that Vera Farmiga is playing some kind of eco-terrorist (embedded in Monarch) who believes the only way to save the planet from the decadence of mankind is by freeing the Titans. Maybe she hopes they will wipe out a large portion of the Earth's human population and retake their dominant place in the food chain, and consequently, humans and the planet will be better off. Of course, hijinks ensue when things don't go exactly according to plan.
Really good prediction. Considering Millie Bobby Brown's character seems to be in conflict with her, she probably has some connection to Godzilla/Rodan/Mothra (For sure at least Mothra, given what we saw in the trailer) in order to stem the destruction of King Ghidorah, who is 100% on a warpath, though this can probably be said for Rodan as well, as he was seen destroying quite a bit of a city. In any case, I do think the movie will end with a large amount of the world population dead, and a lesson about respecting the environment will be learned. Super excited!
Say what you want about Godzilla 2014 but it awoke the era of giant monster movies once more in this new generation along side with pacific rim going to the roots of giant monster battles.
I don't agree with that. We had several giant monster movies prior to Godzilla 2014. Shitty ones, like Godzilla 1998 and good ones, like King Kong 2005, Pacific Rim 2013 and Cloverfield 2008. It didn't really kick off anything. Even at the time, it wasn't immediately being considered for a shared universe. That didn't happen until they started work on Kong: Skull Island. And once again, that concept was appropriated from the Marvel business model. They set the standard for that.
Take note Gidorah is trapped in ice. Indicates a possible global warming releases an avenging demon plot.......so she releases rodan (hence blowing up the volcano), mothra and Godzilla to fight Gidorah and save humanity from Gidorah.....also note a possible Kong foot after dude says long live the king. Remember there are three kings: Godzilla king of monsters. King Kong. King Gidorah.
Man, Jay’s reactions to Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah were excellent. Basically, the plot revolves around a bio-terrorist group infiltrating Monarch to unleash the kaiju they discovered to destroy human civilization. The “human infection” is just human civilization in general. They probably view the kaiju as “great equalizers” and a return to Earth’s natural state. There really isn’t a global extinction event happening beyond what we are already dealing with in 2018. They are just using climate change as an excuse to awaken monsters. One of which Ghidorah; is literally a flying natural disaster.
Awesome trailer. What more can be said. The face of baby Mothra does remind me of how Gamera's face looked in "Gamera: The Brave". As for my favorite monster from the Godzilla universe, other than the big G himself, it is without question King Ghidorah.
i have never seen a better definition of "agog" than watching you both reaction to this !!! ( agog: adjective very eager or curious to hear or see something. synonyms: eager, excited, impatient, keen, anxious, avid, in suspense, on tenterhooks, on the edge of one's seat, on pins and needles )
The problem with believing Godzilla is saving us, is that Godzilla is saving us by proxy. He doesn’t play nice with others because he doesn’t like other dogs shitting in his lawn, so to speak.
Traditionally, Godzilla, Rodan, and Mothra tend to team up against King Ghidorah. There have been other more recent Toho films where Godzilla takes a heel turn and Ghidorah does a face turn and is allied with Mothra and Rodan against Godzilla. I prefer Ghidorah as a villain and Godzilla in the hero role, though. I hope this movie takes that route. At least Godzilla and Mothra as allies against Ghidorah. Rodan could be a wild card. I definitely like your idea of Kong running in from backstage (to keep the wrestling analogy going) out to help Godzilla when he is about to be completely smashed. "IT'S KONG CENA!!!" :-D
I got the feeling that Vera Farminga's character had some ulterior motive to freeing the titans. I could be wrong and to be honest I don't care if I am. Either way I will be seeing this!
I got a cult "like" feeling from her, like she believes that the Titans have to balance us out. Basically what Thanos wanted. And there is a scene where you see a ancient mural with people bowing before Godzilla, so humans at some point coexist with at least Godzilla. And then he went away
I feel like in that one scene when it shows her pressing the button right before the thing on the volcano explodes isn't her freeing rodan. It's her freeing Ghidorah from his icy prison
canchaser2 so my theory is Godzilla, Mothra and Rodan are all the original titans of the Earth but King Ghidorah isn't. He's an alien creature like he was when he was originally introduced. Monarch mistaken believed that he was a titan and thus taw him out and the evil bastard goes on a rampage across the world. It seems like Monarch has a good relationship with the other titans...mainly Godzilla and Mothra. Rodan is just the lone wolf in all of this. The cool dude that joins in when shit gets out of hand.
Very interesting! I'll admit, I know almost nothing about Godzilla or the other Titans. ha Can't wait to see what they have in store for us with this movie.
She mentions that they need the titans. Only mothra and rodan have titan in their names if you go to the monarch website and you see that theres seismic activity where ghidorah is being held. I think ghidorah escapes from his ice bacause of an earthquake or sonething and they have to release mothra and rodan to fight him and somewhere along the way Godzilla joins the fight.
Seeing them both realize that Mothra, Ghidorah, and Rodan are back just bring a smile to my face. 🤣 *HOW DID YOU BOTH NOT KNOW!?* 🤣 The director even said it 4 years ago after the first Godzilla 2014 movie that all 3 of those classic monsters were confirmed.
Here's my take. Gidorah is trapped in ICE. Global warming is the catalyst that releases him to wipe us out because were causing it. Hence the infection bit. That woman realizes the only way to stop Gidorah is to wake the other titans: Rodan Mothra and Godzilla. She knows only they can defeat Gidorah since he's even bigger than Godzilla. Mothras power is lifeforce. Godzilla gets his ass kicked by Gidorah, and perhaps while Rodan is distracting Gidorah, Mothra 'heals' Godzilla with her power, he gets stronger, she sacrifices her life, and after Rodan dies in battle Godzilla delivers the death blow to Gidorah. Notice Godzilla and Mothra have blue eyes (good guys white hats). Rodan is red and Gidorah is yellow (black hats...or possibly a black hat and a neutral). Also notice possibly Kong's foot after dude says: Long live the KING.
I think the main character (Farmigia) is actually bad - she thinks humanity is an infection and the only way to cure it is to release the fever - the monsters. I think she's the villain of the thing. That's why other characters are calling her out of her mind and a monster.
I can see it now..... Godzilla has Kong pinned to the ground. He's getting ready to unleash his Atomic Breath. Then, starting at a near whisper, Kong utters 'Martha'. Godzilla pauses. Kong repeats himself, slightly louder. Godzilla steps off of Kong. Kong says the name one more time. And Godzilla replies, 'Why did you say that name? My mother's name was Martha.' 'Mine too,' Kong answers as he rubs his throat. They hug it out. Then team up to beat the crap out of any remaining evil monsters.
Godzilla and Gamera are the monster equivalent of Marvel and DC, I'm hoping someone's trying to bring that badass turtle to Western cinema. I want a Gamera movie!
Who would have thought that Clair De Lune would sound so damn Epic! Plus this director showed the subjects in all of their monster glory...just enough tease to tweak everyone's interest. Who is the director???Can not wait for 2019. You guys, by the way, are outrageous and a bit off center!!!Great reactions!
They say there’s no team ups in this film but I can’t help but think there is? Unless when you see the shot of Rodan flying around a destroyed DC? That he’s fighting King Ghidorah or “Monster Zero” solo. But also the director Michael Dougherty stated the shot with Godzilla firing off his atomic breath into the sky is a call to arms. So there’s gotta be some team up action against King Ghidorah.
42Caio (Caio Esteves) she’s gotta. If you saw the underwater carvings you saw people bowing down to Godzilla. And you saw the jets at the end fly past Godzilla as if they’re both headed towards something. The King & Queen of the monsters have a common threat. If they want to survive you’d think they’d team up against King Ghidorah.
Dragonk116 I don’t think he would either. Dougherty said he’s always been treated as a side character and feels like he’s done justice to rodan in this film. Maybe rodan will do his own thing and be persuaded in a sorts to help out.
They have to save the planet from ghidorah. He's like a prophecy that will destroy all life on earth and the ones that can stop him are the other monsters. I think somehow the humans had something to do with ghidorahs awakening
My prediction is it will be Godzilla and Mothra vs. Rodan and King Ghidrah. In Godzilla lore Mothra has always leaned towards good. There is also a not-so subtle clue in the trailer. Godzilla and Mothra scenes are colored blue whereas Rodan and King Ghidorah scenes are colored yellows and reds. Just my opinion. Edit: no one mentioned that my second spelling of Godzilla was wrong... I noticed it and changed it.. My ocd has been fed. 😉
There's a rumour of four more monsters, yet to be seen. We have a bloody year to find out. I agree that we could see Kong in this at some point, I hope haha.
The look on your faces when Mothra spread her wings was priceless. LOL
and then the face stay until the end of the trailer
Yah.
That look when he saw ghidora in the shadows. Gave me goosebumps all over again.
Kudos to Jay. He's one of the few reactors who actually got all the names correct.
zedrow69 I ain’t kidding about loving these movies!
Jay not only got the names right, but he called King Ghidorah by the original US translation of *Ghidrah*, a nice shout-out to how we did things back in the day!
He said ghidorah wrong tho
It's five years later, and this trailer doesn't cease to pull tears out of me. There are many significant moments in my life that won't ever be forgotten, and one of them is the day I saw this movie in theaters. Don't care what anyone on earth says, King of the Monsters was a great movie.
Yo, I think your buddy malfunctioned badly after seeing Mothra.. haha
This looks amazing, the song choice was perfect. The music gave me a sense of beauty and wonderment. And seeing the classic Godzilla monsters was great.
cory hawks Claire de Lune by DeBussy
Love the end scene with all the fighter jets flying by Godzilla. That looked epic.

“Dude that’s so metal!” That made the review for me.
10:48 "We are all just tiny Kaiju destroying the world" and it turns out that was kinda the plot of the film, humans destroying the world..
I'v been watching reactions to the trailer all night and i think this is the best so far. Your faces are priceless... those eyes on superman! i had the same reaction, almost cried at the end with that AWESOME ROAR

Godzilla, Mothra and Rodan are the good guys who fight against King Ghidorah who was freed by us humans....BIG MISTAKE.
Rodan is Godzilla's rival usually but joins him to defeat Ghidorah
Well in the scene where Rodan is going to the storm is going to fight King Ghidorah I think
Notice Gidorah is trapped in ice. I'm thinking there'll be a 'global warming releases a monster to stop us from killing the planet' story. It has to be Godzilla and Mothra vs Rodan and King Ghidorah, no? Rodan is destroying cities and jets so surely he’s “bad”.
Rodan is can be good guy or bad guy
Great trailer. Looks like we might be getting the japanese Kaiju style with the production quality and special effects of an american studio. Not surprised Toho has started embracing the new Godzilla design and openend up to working with Legendary.
Yes, this is part of the 2014 monster universe and the 2014 Godzilla is actually one of my favourite movies

long live the KING !
You aint kidding.
Anything more metal would be to have Aquaman shredding on a guitar near Godzilla 💪
This is a sequal to the 2014 Godzilla movie with Brian Cranston .
Great reaction. The other monsters Rodan and Mothra help Godzilla battle King Ghidorah
Kong II: Hawaiian Boogaloo
Surfacing in Hawaii, Kong, intent on death and destruction, has a change of heart when his new friend Kyle convinces him to enter a regional surfing contest in order to save a community youth center.
Kong II: Hawaiian Boogaloo. Hanging ten at a theater near you!
Nicely done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Travis Marshall I'd watch that
Punishment, you’re on time out!
🤣🤣🤣
Y'all pretty much called like 65% of the monster verse in this trailer riff. If I weren't already subbed for like 2 yrs now just going back thru your catalog, I'd do it all over again
I knew if I checked the comments by newest I would find something like this being said. Totally agree.
Jay has such a genuine reaction, it's amazing. One of the best i've seen to the trailer.
Soo were just gonna ignore the awesome scene where the fighter jets fly pass the side of Godzilla ?
Good reaction guys....SOOO many do reactions, and they don't know who and why.....bugs me badly...good job guys!!
It's nice to see a reaction video where the people reacting actually know who these monsters are, outside of Godzilla of course.
Let’s see we have Godzilla , Mothra , Rhodan ,and King Ghidora this will be awesome

Toho Godzilla universe set up the first massive crossover between movies, with Destroy All Monsters. Not MCU ! Godzilla did first !
Man, Jay’s reactions to Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah were excellent.
Basically, the plot revolves around a bio-terrorist group infiltrating Monarch to unleash the kaiju they discovered to destroy human civilization.

The dude on the right was my exact reaction to this. I totally teared up too with the music too.
Awesome trailer. What more can be said. The face of baby Mothra does remind me of how Gamera's face looked in "Gamera: The Brave". As for my favorite monster from the Godzilla universe, other than the big G himself, it is without question King Ghidorah.
5:50 "It's King Kong from the top rope!" LMFAO
After all this time, it’s still in my top 3 favorite trailers of all time. Still gives me chills watching it
Love the pregnant pause at the end of the trailer and then he's like, "That is so metal." hahahahaha.....Dude, right?!
I wasn't even planning to watch the trailer not just the movie OMG!! WOW!
i have never seen a better definition of "agog" than watching you both reaction to this !!!
Yes it's suppose to be 5 years after the Godzilla 2014 movie
Traditionally, Godzilla, Rodan, and Mothra tend to team up against King Ghidorah. That was the best trailer of SDCC so far. Very well made and quite artsy.
It goes Godzilla 2014, kong skull island, then Godzilla Kotm, then Godzilla vs King Kong
I'm glad you knew your monsters. Other reaction videos where they didn't know what they saw I turned them off.
Really enjoyed your reactions to this trailer. I've rewatched several times now.
I’m a grown man now. And to finally see other people “Get It” brings me to tears every time
Humanity is working with Godzilla because he’s saved humanity in the last movie
I got the feeling that Vera Farminga's character had some ulterior motive to freeing the titans. I could be wrong and to be honest I don't care if I am. Either way I will be seeing this!
I got a cult "like" feeling from her, like she believes that the Titans have to balance us out. Basically what Thanos wanted.

Other reaction videos thought baby Mothra was some kind of turtle. You have to be a real old school Toho fan to enjoy this.
Long Live The King . . . They finally gave us what we wanted :'( tiers of joy :D
I love how you are speechless lol
I've only just seen the trailer and I'm a huge Godzilla fan. Can't believe I missed the reveal!
Godzilla and Mothra are good monsters
I think they'll find Mothra first and then Mothra will help them converse with Godzilla and Rodin to finally fight Ghidorah.
Seeing them both realize that Mothra, Ghidorah, and Rodan are back just bring a smile to my face. 🤣
*HOW DID YOU BOTH NOT KNOW!?* 🤣 The director even said it 4 years ago after the first Godzilla 2014 movie that all 3 of those classic monsters were confirmed.
This reaction deserves a sub, best reaction I've seen so far and I'm right there with you guys on the excitement.
Thanks. Welcome. 🙂
Its fun to see some of these older reactions. I am getting caught up on my Monsterverse films. This was so early in your reviews!
Godzilla comes back with his rivals.
Long live the king 😎😎😎
Its the sequel to Godzilla 2014 and Kong Skull Island
"Long live the king." How ironic that Tywin Lannister says that...
Adam's face killed me the whole time
I think the main character (Farmigia) is actually bad - she thinks humanity is an infection and the only way to cure it is to release the fever - the monsters. I think she's the villain of the thing. That's why other characters are calling her out of her mind and a monster.
It would be awesome if King Kong and Godzilla both had mom's named Martha.
Pokey Can't Dance
More like:
Godzilla:... must... save.. Mothra!
Kong: ....... why did you say that name!!!???
Pokey Can't Dance I thought one of them was named Gladys.
🤣🤣🤣
Destoroyah. He's the Doomsaday of the Kaiju-verse.
Pokey Can't Dance CRYING!!!!!!
Pretty much the same as my reaction. I grew up on Godzilla and I am 100% insanely excited about this film!!!!!
You know who Godzilla should fight? A giant Graboid from Tremors.
See this is why I love you guys!!
Best trailer I've seen for a long time , since the wonder woman rise of the Worrior to be exact !
Anyone who saw the last Godzilla movie knows this will kick some serious ass!!
My farorite order: Godzilla, Gamera, Rodan , Ghidorah.
Godzilla and Gamera are the monster equivalent of Marvel and DC, I'm hoping someone's trying to bring that badass turtle to Western cinema. I want a Gamera movie!
Monster Zero is the enemy
I'm going to assume that King Ghidorah will be the big bad of the film, and it'll take Godzilla, Mothra, and Rodan to stop him.
Hail to the king, baby!
Oh, you deserve more internet points for that reference. 😁
Mothra, Godzilla and Humanity is the best tag team. Godzilla went from the strongest thing from earth to the litteral meaning of the word invinsible.
“King Kong from the Top Rope”
3:52 Row-dan
No Godzilla, mothra and Rodan have to be found to stop King Ghidorah!
Yes this movie is a sequel to the 2014 godzilla movie
Who would have thought that Clair De Lune would sound so damn Epic! Plus this director showed the subjects in all of their monster glory...just enough tease to tweak everyone's interest. Who is the director???Can not wait for 2019. You guys, by the way, are outrageous and a bit off center!!!Great reactions!
This was by far the best reaction
The best trailer I've seen in a very long time.
Yeah there's no way at least Mothra won't team up with Godzilla.
But isn't Rodan Brodan? I don't think he would be a dick to godzilla would he?
Dragonk116 agreed
Dragonk116 I don’t think he would either. Dougherty said he’s always been treated as a side character and feels like he’s done justice to rodan in this film. Maybe rodan will do his own thing and be persuaded in a sorts to help out.
Well .. Godzilla has never fought alongside mankind .. his side is earth side not for the mankind .. he's an anti-hero
This trailer is a damn-near spiritual experience.
The guy on the right is the proper reaction to this trailer......
The Titan Battle will decide the Fate of the 🌍.
LONG LIVE THE KING!
They have to save the planet from ghidorah. He's like a prophecy that will destroy all life on earth and the ones that can stop him are the other monsters. I think somehow the humans had something to do with ghidorahs awakening

Jay slightly predicts GvsK
My prediction is it will be Godzilla and Mothra vs. Rodan and King Ghidrah. In Godzilla lore Mothra has always leaned towards good. There is also a not-so subtle clue in the trailer. Godzilla and Mothra scenes are colored blue whereas Rodan and King Ghidorah scenes are colored yellows and reds. Just my opinion.
Edit: no one mentioned that my second spelling of Godzilla was wrong... I noticed it and changed it.. My ocd has been fed. 😉
Great Reactions Guys! :D
Hahaha his damn face ahhaha!
There's a rumour of four more monsters, yet to be seen. We have a bloody year to find out. I agree that we could see Kong in this at some point, I hope haha.
