You are correct the axe blade was made out of one of Godzilla's back scale that kongs ancient ancestors created to fight against Godzilla because Kong and godzilla's species are rivals which is why they said in the trailer there was a war before and these are the last two of their species

Godzilla fan here. The “Two Endings” thing for KK vs G (1962) is a rumor. Both the Japanese and English versions of the film end with Kong rising to the surface. The rumor started in Ian Thorne’s Godzilla children’s book from the 80s.

Godzilla fan here. The “Two Endings” thing for KK vs G (1962) is a rumor. Both the Japanese and English versions of the film end with Kong rising to the surface. The rumor started in Ian Thorne’s Godzilla children’s book from the 80s.
No this isn't like BatvSup, these characters (and more importantly) these versions of these characters are established before the movie and not just thrown together 3 movies early
