It’s just Sephiroth and Zack for me. Otherwise I’ve enjoyed the new actors. Only one I miiiight also be bummed about is new Reno, but his new voice still suits the character. I’d be fine with a new voice for Zack. Just a different voice. New Zack sounds younger than Cloud. The cool factor is missing. There’s a reason Cloud wants to be cool/uses Zack sort of as a basis. Besides that, it’s not just the voice. It’s delivery. There’s some weird moments and that lies more on the directors. And who knows if it’s even TEHIR fault. Japanese games can often have people from japan listen in on the recording sessions of the English version of a game’s audio and give notes. And not all of the notes fit for English acting. Either way, wish I enjoyed this more. But the new actor doesn’t deserve any harassment. He just did his job.
His voice did capture the original Japanese voice but it didn’t suit well when performed from it… I don’t really know if the voice director forgot that there should be a cool factor about it but… it’s still under performed and Caleb has a long way to go.
Replacing Quinton Flynn is always a downgrade. ALWAYS.

Yeah.... really not a fan of Zack's new voice, it's kind of ruinning the charatcer for me.
Yeah same here. I might have to play it in Japanese, which is a shame because I liked everyone else's new voice so far 😥

Aerith, Red XIII, Yuffie and Barret are great, but everything else just seems so out of place and uncanny.
Zack new VA is so much more closer the Japanese. Old one is great, but people are mad for no reason. Poor guy gets hate for doing his job..

@@gall0wz_651 i noticed this but it personally feels weird to sound like that in english, because it sounds more natural and fitting in japanese despite the similarity. Not trying to perpetuate hate but I get the disappointment.
Being closer to the Japanese doesn’t mean it’s automatically good. Different langue. Different acting nuances for those languages. Not to mention overall acting in general isn’t necessarily going to be equal. Dude doesn’t deserve real spergage on the internet, but let’s not be disingenuous about people criticizing the performance.
@@TheShockVox not to mention a lot of japanese young males have that nasally tone. not the case for the west lol. also, zack and aerith's japanese voice actors are married, if that tells you something about the japanese dub.
The new English voice acting is terrible. The original with PSP is much better. The new voice acting is dry, tasteless, and emotionless

i agree, but some like cloud, genesis, tseng, cissne, aerith, angeal, and sephiroth are better.

@@Fbjsytshut up. All of them are suck. Old ones are the bestest of the best. And you should accept it with all its badness and goodness.
Honestly i don't like the old dub very much. To me it comes off as overly edgy at times and more often than that, i dont think it matches the japanese versions very well. Im fine when dubs do things differently if i think it seems equal or better than the original and i just don't get that equal or better feeling with the old dub very much. So I preferred the original game with jp voices. The new dub however i think does a much better job at capturing the charming/sweeter moments in particular. Its different than the jp version but mostly i found it on par and in some scenes better. I didnt play reunion until recent snd only beat it yesterday. Didn't realize the new dub was so controversial but whatever i guess. I will criticize both dubs for having some flat line delivery at times.
