This reminded me so much of my outing on Liatach. I had done lots of scrambling in England & Wales but was new to Scotland. With some apprehension I set off on my own and gained the main ridge where I left my rucksack to do the peak to the east. By the time I got back a party had arrived at the bealach and began to set off along the traverse so I tagged along. When it came to the scrambling I realised that I was actually more confident than they were and we became a team who worked it all out together. We gained the top successfully and shared our celebrations. The lesson I learnt was about the value of companionship and it really boosted my confidence so the following day I did the horns of Alligin on my own. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Keith, I'm glad it brought back some good memories! I definitely wouldn't have wanted to try this one on my own. After crossing the first of the pinnacles we were a bit put off by the big looking climb up to the main one, so decided to drop down to the bypass. I'd like to give it another go along the top at some point though, but I might need to get a bit more confident with my scrambling first. Hannah and I climbed Beinn Alligin last year, but we didn't do the horns. I would be far more confident to do them now though! S
Thank you very much Alan, I really appreciate that! And apologies for the late reply, I've not been checking my RUclips account for the past few months! S
I take my hat off to you Sam and Ellis for your achievement in climbing two Munro's that day. Stunning image's. I don't think i could do that climb. I will check out Ellis's channel. All the best mate.
Thanks Pete! I might have slipped a bit again since this hike, athough I'm off to the lake district this weekend so hopefully that will trim me back up a bit! S
Well done guys! Reminds me of when I reached the highest point of the Wainwright Coast to Coast - Kidsky Pike and it was a total white out. Looking forward to seeing your next walks.
Cheers Andrew! I quite fancy doing the coast-to-coast sometime. I'm actually off to the Lake District this weekend so looking forward to a bit of a change of scenery, although the forecast isn't looking too great! S
What a great hike up, the pinnacles looked interesting! You really have picked a great location to set up home nearby. I had similar moody skies when I hiked into the Quinag in September, but the views are still amazing whatever the weather in Scotland.
