For real I try to do the same with my own channel. I do wish youtube would respect the users better when searching for knowlage tutorial based content and feed us the quicker and better content rather than the longwinded entertaining content.
This is how you make a tutorial. You neatly zoomed into whatever you are using so that people with restricted data plans can be able to view it in lower quality too and you explained about it clearly.
Nice bite size tutorial! Well done. I love that you pointed out the difference between the short cut keys for alt/ command for both pc and mac (this is something that always throws me!) and selection and deselction of the points. Thanks so much :-)
Omg! Finally I leaned how to use the pen tool! Your skills are beyond Graphic Design! I have been watching quite a lot of videos on pen tool but only yours made me actually learn! Forever thankful man!! Following you 🤍
Oh.my.god. as simple as that. I can't believe I wasted my time on half an hour tutorials when yours was just a click away...this is amazing, finally I can use the pen tool.
This has helped me incredibly. Thankyou so much for putting the effort into making this video, It was clear and got to the point. Exactly what I needed! Thankyou
Im trying to trace a logo but when i press make selection it traces the whole page dk if that makes sense so when i copy and past the image i traced just dissappear instead of appearing on a new layer
@@graphicsociety1 I'm serious, I used to do this point by point with straight lines because I could never figure out how to make several curves in a row. Every video I watched seemed to think that was too basic to explain, until I found you! Cheers
I watched about 6 other demos before this and NONE mentioned the "ALT" key to remove handle and I was beginning to think. There is no way to follow an image. Thank you
Thank you so much for this great lesson and good information. I have a question and I hope to answer it. The first is why did you lock the bat layer and the second is why did you reduce the transparency? please.
Hello and thanks. I locked it so I would click and move it accidentally. If you don’t reduce the transparency you won’t be able to see the underlying layer to trace over.
Just after you closed the loop and zoomed out the point on the left wing appears to have moved since there is gray appearing outside the red line around minute 4:30 or so. A: why did it move and B: how would you fix it?
I didn’t do a clean job closing that point. To fix it clean on that point using the Direct Selection tool, the white tool, then you see the handles. Move the handles slightly
Results won't be anywhere near as good without a very thick stroke. The thinner the lines are, the sharper the passage point between each segment will be. Unfortunately this still isn't enough to make a smooth, thin tracing line.
Miles Spearman select the Pen tool and then look at the Options bar or the properties panel. You probably have a fill assigned to your pen tool or you have a stroke that is very thick. You need to adjust those.
Miles Spearman First ensure your pen tool is set to shape not the path. When you finish your shape you can go to properties panel or options bar on the top to change the shapes fill and stroke colors.
Yes. You need to prepare the file for that. They may need you to change outline to a certain Color and save the file in a certain way. You also need to do some adjustments on the laser cutter software to define the material you’re using, cutting depth, etc.
Finally, a tutorial that I won't have to watch for 30 minutes.
For real I try to do the same with my own channel. I do wish youtube would respect the users better when searching for knowlage tutorial based content and feed us the quicker and better content rather than the longwinded entertaining content.
I'm glad I could help.

Thank you so much ! Really appreciate your simple explanations after watching hundreds of complicated tutorials.
Perfect! This gave me exactly what I was looking for! I've been trying to learn this tool for ages! Thank you!
Thank you so much!! I've watched longer and shorter "how to use the pen tool" tutorial!! None where as user friendly as this one!!
This is how you make a tutorial. You neatly zoomed into whatever you are using so that people with restricted data plans can be able to view it in lower quality too and you explained about it clearly.
Sanket R thanks a lot for the nice comment.

But what if we want to adjust the spline asymmetrically, as opposed to getting rid of it altogether?
This was a decent video. Much thanks to you my friend
Dandra Balfour you’re very welcome 😊

Thank you I had to do this for class and I was really confused
Happy to hear that
but how do you color the inside after drawing it? i need help
Select the drawn shape and go to Properties panel to change the fill and stroke.
Results won't be anywhere near as good without a very thick stroke. The thinner the lines are, the sharper the passage point between each segment will be. Unfortunately this still isn't enough to make a smooth, thin tracing line.
Simplest tutorial on the Penn tool!
Thank you
THANKS
I have a black line surrounding my trace do you know anyway I get around that?
Miles Spearman select the Pen tool and then look at the Options bar or the properties panel. You probably have a fill assigned to your pen tool or you have a stroke that is very thick. You need to adjust those.
@@graphicsociety1 How do you change the color of the stroke?
Miles Spearman First ensure your pen tool is set to shape not the path. When you finish your shape you can go to properties panel or options bar on the top to change the shapes fill and stroke colors.
Thank you man✌
AimBot Harlz I’m glad it helped you.
thank you
Thank you
Can this method be applied for laser cut?
Yes. You need to prepare the file for that. They may need you to change outline to a certain Color and save the file in a certain way. You also need to do some adjustments on the laser cutter software to define the material you’re using, cutting depth, etc.
Thanks so much! :D
Andy Vu my pleasure.
Thank you - time to go to work
muchodj glad you found it useful :)
But how to fill a colour in it? Pls answer
When you close the path of the shape then you can go to properties panel and change the Fill colour to anything you want.
You couldn't use the curvature pen tool?
Good question! It’s not as accurate. It may or may not work for this shape but overall it gives you less control.
thank you so much bro
You’re welcome 😊
Thx!
You're welcome.
Finally I am at right place
