your art style is so cool! I also use sai and thought that since it wasnt a expensive art program like photoshop or clip studio paint that i wouldnt be able to make good art. this video proved me wrong, and im glad i saw it
it's a common misconception! In my opinion, the only thing an expensive program offers more than a free one, is an extention of the tools you already have for free and lots of shortcuts (example: customized brushes, rather than drawing grass, flowers or chains by hand everytime). I like SAI cause it's a fairly simple program to use, but many people prefer to have other options when drawing - it's all about your preferences, not really the end result!

DPI doesn’t matter!!! (unless you are trying to print something) If your artwork is 2000*2000px it will be the same size at 72, 300 or whatever dpi. It’s just good to know how big your printed image can be with a certain dpi and size in pixels I really love your art, I just want to people know about this dpi stuff, cause a lot of artists misunderstand it
Well, for me it *does* matter for quality (so yes, it will still be 2000x2000px of course, because it does not impact the size). You can see it when doing brush strokes on your drawing program aswell - i don't print my art, but i accidentally set the DPI at 72 for the cyberpunk miku art and i couldn't post it because it was grainy. Maybe it varies from program to program (maybe some programs show you the printing output?), but DPI does matter - at least with me using SAI ^^"
@@mazamuno Maybe your friend had an option to only choose dpi and the size in inches or centimetres, so the program calculated the size in pixels automatically. Just try to take a 3000x3000px image with 300dpi, make a copy of it and change the dpi to 72, for example (but make sure it still 3000x3000px). @@toriel5695 that's what i said! it doesn't influence the size of the canvas itself - 3000x3000 will still be that size regardless of the DPI (as you said, it only influences the size when you print the image), but when drawing it *does* influence how sharp/grainy the image looks on your PC. That's the reason why even PNG images on google still look grainy, because google images resets one image's DPI to 72 for allowing a smoother browsing experience. As said, when drawing in 300 or in 72 DPI, you can see how smooth or grainy the brush stroke is. When printing, it changes the size, but when drawing it changes the quality of the art.
