Shields up! Forcefield Impacts Test

  • I've always preferred bubble forcefields over the hull tight ones. It just seems more dramatic. I've also always thought that forcefields should distort and ripple when hit, and not just dissipate the energy. This was a surprisingly frustrating and tedious effect as it's really many effects wrapped into one. I spent 3 hours debugging before I finally discovered that two cache files needed to be renamed uniquely. Overall i'm pretty happy with the outcome though. In case you haven't noticed, forcefields will play a pretty big roll in Halcyon since the AI commander also uses dynamic forcefield to interact with the environment.

I like how we see the energy of the projectile diffusing on the shield !

I love the ripples! Makes me think that a large enough hit could indent the shield bubble far in enough to expose the hull. And now I'm curious as to how the enemy ship(s) might look!
